First time watching better call saul (reaction)
Theres an official podcast for Better Call Saul (also BrBa).... where Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould and the cast and crew go episode by episode breaking down the making of every facet of the show. Its a deep dive but worth it.
Name? Never heard of it
It's a prequel show, so the disadvantage in storytelling is knowing Mike won't die on this desert trip. But the advantage in storytelling is the painful dramatic irony we get when we hear Mike talk about being willing to sacrifice is life to provide for his family, knowing he fails to do so.
When the sniper was revealed rather than being Mike it should have been Howard. "Jimmy thought anymore about that job".

Dexter or Twin Peaks would be excellent choices for reactions. Can you imagine this show without Kim? She's immense. I have to wonder if they planned her arc from the beginning or increased her role because she was so good. I can't think of a better female character in a TV show. I believe she's going to team up with Gilligan for a new project at some point. See how Saul cleans his shoes with some of that precious water earlier in the episode?
Dexter is really good. Julie Benz (Darla from Angel) was in it.

This episode marks the return of BCS co-creator Vince Gilligan to the director’s chair for the first time since Breaking Bad. His skill at showing off the stark beauty of New Mexico desert locations, evident since the Breaking Bad pilot, is in full force here. Notably, even though at this point he has the clout to shoot his next series anywhere he wants, his upcoming sci-fi oriented series featuring Rhea Seahorn is also being shot & set in the Albuquerque area, where he lives full time now.

I love how Lalo tells Saul, "You're Nobody." I bet you that is a connection to the movie that Odenkirk is in... which you should also consider watching on your channel.
“Nobody” released in 2021. season 5 of better call saul aired in 2019
@figz6327 I looked it up.... nobody was filmed earlier, and that episode aired later than you said. The movie was conceptualized by odenkirk. Regardless... if it was unplanned... it still is uncanny.
Elite, here’s a short series for your next show (10 episodes); but it will give you more time to consider a longer one and it’s one of the best ever: Band of Brothers.

Sopranos is another great series modern day Italian- American mobsters. Oh and don't worry about being called names. I smiled during Todd's scenes in breaking bad.

Battlestar Galactica Miniseries for a trial? It was a few years before Firefly and is quality SciFi. If you are still unsure, give Season 1 episode 1 a try by recording it on spec and only editing it down for release if you decide to pick it up. The episode, called "33," is that good!
I'd love to see him react to the Battlestar Galactica re-imagined series.

Shows that live up to breaking bad/better call Saul: game of thrones, Barry, succession, attack on titan, sopranos
Game of thrones? 🤣 S1-4 were brilliant, yes. And then it started getting worse and worse. To the point of being absolutely horrific. And simply disrespectful to viewers. One of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced
Now this will be controversial, cause AoT is loved by so many. I find it overrated and filled with clichés. Not to mention chasing shock moments just for the sake of shock moments.
I just don't see those 2 shows being anywhere near BrBa/BCS 🤷♂️
BrBa and BCS are my favorites, but here are some other series suggestions if you haven't seen them: Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Sopranos, Fargo are fantastic crime/legal shows ; Last of Us is a brief but fantastic apocalypse show; Games of Thrones and House of the Dragon are good fantasy shows.
I always wondered how Mike got to the desert - they can't drive back because Sauls car broke down, but what about Mike's car? Or did he walk all the way there and all the way back too lol
The last bad guy shoots it up before he drives off.

@@eliemoses Perhaps a show to consider? The quality of the show isn't nearly as consistent as the Breaking Bad Universe shows, but not many shows are. The first four seasons, at least, are pretty solid.
I also liked the suggestion someone else made of trying the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, it's a two-parter running about three hours in total, and seeing if you may want to watch the show. The show has four seasons and 2-3 movies. The miniseries is effectively a long pilot.

I saw some people suggesting that you pick up game of thrones but I think I saw somewhere that you've already watched it. Have you seen House of the Dragon yet Elie? As a fan of the book series who has a lot of issues with HBO's game of thrones I have to say that House of the Dragon is better in nearly every way. If the end of GoT put you off of it (understandable tbh) I gotta recommend you give HoTD a chance!

I love Bagman, I really do. Great episode. But I also feel it's overrated a bit.
Not to diminish my love for this episode, but I agree. But the only reason I agree is that there are lots of folks who state, like it's some kind of scientific fact, that this is the best episode of the entire series. For me, that's overblown rhetoric. There are so many brilliant episodes throughout this series that it feels disingenuous to have such certainty about one of them being so much better than the rest. That being said, I'd probably have this one in my favorite top 10 of the series. One of the main reasons being that it's such a PERFECT SETUP for the next episode, which for me personally, is an even greater episode. Just like no Breaking Bad, no Better Call Saul - No Bagman, no Bad Choice Road. And this analogy, and personal preference of mine, goes for how I feel about BB v BCS as well. Cheers...
If you want a good series to binge, go with Venture Bros! It's a little rough in the first season, but it continues to evolve and absolutely worth it!

It's crazy, the time and effort that goes into shooting an episode of this show. They shoot like they have a feature film schedule and not an episodic TV schedule. You aren't going to find any lazy direction here.

It sounds like this episode was pure hell to shoot, but whenever people ask Bob Odenkirk about it, he always calls out the stunt people and the crew who worked in the desert for this, because he feels like their job was even harder than his but they don't get any attention. He's a classy guy.
this one is directed by Vince (the og BrBa show runner) he does not direct much but when he does. Oh man oh...

this episode really is a work of art
Boardwalk Empire would be an amazing series to see you react to. It's damn near perfect and not many people have done a reaction to it, which is a shame. I wont spoil anything other than how fantastic it is 🤘
