My family always had an artificial tree. In fact, it was the same tree from at least the 70s. My mother and I putting it together was a holiday tradition, as was her wanting to cut off some of the pole to shorten it. It consisted of a wooden pole that screwed together, with sets of holes drilled into it at an angle. Each limb had a twisted main wire that spread out into three branches at the end. Twisted into the wire, were plastic bristles. Basically each limb was like a three-prong bottle brush. The ends of the wire had remnants of paint in different colors, and you followed the printed sheet for which color branches to put into which holes. Then the top of the tree was one piece that fit into a hole in the top end of the pole. My grandparents, who lived downstairs in our two-family house, also always had artificial tress, however unlike my parents, my grandfather was rarely satisfied with using the same tree more than a couple years in a row. He had an OLD, rotating tree stand, which also played music, and had outlets for plugging in the lights. He always bought "flocked" trees, with artificial snow on them. In fact, while my mother would hang up some decorations, my grandfather would go all out decorating his living room. There were so many lights that even if you turned the normal room lights off, you could still see to read the TV guide. Sadly they're all gone now. I live alone, don't have a girlfriend, and haven't decorated for Christmas in many years.
Oh... MY... Gowsh... I love your rendition of "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Star Trek" LOVE it. I have a Tricorder like that and a Voyager for my tree. No Enterprise-D.
Being a Star Trek fan, this Christmas tree looks awesome. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Right after 8:32 , the narrator's voice popped in my head, "Space the final frontier..."
Wow, Taylor! even threw in a Quantum leap reference. When people at work ask if they can do something, I still say "make it so". You ladies have a wonderful holiday. Looking forward to your great songs and shows.
You two are as mad as a box of frogs - I love it. Thank you so much for all the laughs this year, I've needed it. I wish you both a Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year. Live Long and Prosper.
Happy holiday. I'm curious to know if you also have the shuttlecraft toy and other playsets as well? Plus i wish you all the best with the show and look forward to seeing how this channel grows and whatnot. God bless.
I’m jealous of your Wonderful Wall o’ Retro! I hope to rework my den/closet to make room for my modest retro collection: two Atari 800s, an 800xl, a TS 1000 (if I can get it working again-see software guy/hardware guy discussion below), the glorified Radio Shack calculator/handheld computer, and a number of retro emulator devices. You make me feel old that TNG is the Trek “of your childhood”, though! (For me it was the Trek of my college and early career years.) Looking at that Tricorder form factor makes me think, “Hmm, would that be large enough to hold a Raspberry Pi, maybe a Nano? Would there still be enough room for mini-displays and controls? Could you fit a battery in the other half?” 🤔 Too bad I’m a software guy, not hardware (ask my wife-she hangs the pictures in our house! 😂).
@@fractalMD I'll book a ticket to the US A.S.A.P. 😋 Might be a while... But if anyone's interested: You probably just need to connect the other end of the strip to the same powersupply with a bit of wire to "inject" some voltage to compensate some of the voltage drop over the length of the strip. If your power supply is a low amperage one, getting a higher amperage one might also work.
@fractalMD for Christmas day, smoked gammon, large chicken (as turkey I find dry) all the veg & Yorkshire puddings, bacon and stuffing rolls, mash and roast potatoes. Then on to desert 😋
So I'm well into middle age and way past the whole, "I really don't want to go to work" phase and in pure burnout, like "kill me now" burnout in which I feel nothing and have become, to borrow a phrase, an "insensate meat puppet." Anyway after a grueling commute I get into my seat a few weeks ago and plug in the laptop and mutter, in a bad English accident, "Set a course....for Excel." Because I am punchy and essentially no longer in control of the fact that I mutter to myself constantly in a futile attempt to maintain consciousness or perhaps a crude simulacrum of sapience (seeing as how language is involved and all.) The guy who sits in the cubicle across from me, who is a D&D player and all that, by any measure a far bigger nerd than I am, says, "That. That is not healthy." Oh how I would watch ST:TNG and dream of the future, blissfully unaware of decades of stupid spreadsheets and Powerpoint decks to come. Not the...not the kind of decks I was hoping for. That. That is not healthy. EDIT: (The Phooooootonnnnn torpedooooooes thing just killed me. The only wormholes I ever encounter, are holes made by literal worms. Set a course, for SUBURBS.)

You need one of those little mini trees and can dedicate it to your family and good memories.
