the rattling could be from the timing chain tensioners, specially because your car was shaking on start up, its a sign before it breaks the timing chain
Yes timing chain tensioner Low oil pressure. Went the engine sits for a few hours it loose oil pressure on tensioners. In another words buy a timing chain kit and replace the chain guides and tensioners, water pump. It is best to do it all since you are opening the timing cover..
how much did it cost you to do this? did it affect the drive-ability of the car before doing the job? My car makes the same noise on cold start but not all the time.
@@Mohdr121 yes you have to remove the oil pan there’s several screws the need to be remove, before you can take the front timing cover off and remove the valve cover in order to take the camshaft brakets to take the sprockets off and replace the tensioners.. just search here on UA-cam , how to replace time belt on 350z.
did you find which tensioner was the cause? was there one tensioner in particular that was noticeably broken? damaged? hoping was main tensioner that's easier to replace and not the 2 upper tensioners. thanks

thats is the timing chain bro on i have real engine knocking sound you can hear the differences i hope you don't mind i will share the link on your video , so my subs can hear the differences,, nice video 😃😃😃👍
Mine does the same thing but only the first time after it has ran it starts with no noise what it is is after it sits over night the oil drains from some lifters that don't hold oil over night when you start it in the morning it takes 2 seconds to get oil pressure into the dry lifter
i get that its from low oil but what part of the car is making this noise my z makes it on startup and driving. i know its not rod knock because its not consistent
If you ready my replies, i commented on this several times. If your Z is over 100,000 miles , you need a timing belt kit, wish includes the tensioners and that is what’s making the noise.

Timing CHAIN bro
replacing the timing chain tensioner fix this issue some time 😃👍👍👍👍
my start up is identical and whenever i go over 2500 rpm i hear it super loud
i also have overheating issue that i think is water pump so makes sense
@@ProdigyProductions how long have you had this noise on start up? does it happen every cold start?
did u fix anything yet?
If you hear this noise went you drive them these are your internals/pistons, this is engine knock.. sorry man..
So there no chance it’s a time chain and water pump?
Sounds like piston slap, happened on my 5.0 mustang

@@fair2ladyz370 did that fix the knocking/tick? It was just the timing chain?
@@jonahswanktv2167 yes my issue was fixed
i have the exact same problem man but it should be the timing chain let me know what it was that fixed ur problem plz
Yes is timing belt related, but it was the tensioner from first started oil starvation.

Would it make a rattle sound when your rpms dropped? Think this might be what’s wrong with my z
No that’s a different problem. Once the oil reaches the tensioner the rattling goes away. The next time you hear it, is on a cold start.
