Vanilla Loch Modan - Music & Rain Ambience (1 hour, 4K, World of Warcraft Classic)

  • Dear friends, this is another classic World of Warcraft music & rain ambience zone: Loch Modan, part of the Dwarves starting area. The nostalgia is very strong with this zone.
    Dun Morogh Music & Ambience video here: • Vanilla Dun Morogh - M...
    Loch Modan is a large area east of Dun Morogh, situated in eastern Khaz Modan. It is known for its temperate climate, abandoned archaeological dig site, and the huge lake from which the region takes its name. The gray and rugged Khaz Mountains rise up on all sides around the loch, and the hills are lightly wooded with pine and birch. The loch was held in place by the Stonewrought Dam, an architectural wonder of no equal on Azeroth.
    Loch Modan is heavily populated by hostile troggs, unearthed from caves below ground by the dwarven digs. They have since settled in the surrounding mountainous area and built crude camps and caves from which to strike at passing travelers. Other dangers include dangerous wildlife, aggressive kobolds, and the powerful ogres of the Mo'grosh Stronghold.
    Unfortunately Loch Modan doesn't have an unique music associated with it but the track 'Forest Day' seems to match perfectly with the ambience. Original World of Warcraft Vanilla music in this video (always marked on the video) together with rain noise:
    00:11 Forest Day 1
    01:10 Forest Day 2
    02:26 Forest Day 3
    10:06 Ruins OST by Jason Hayes
    30:00 Orgrimmar 1
    31:09 Orgrimmar 2
    32:14 Volcanic Night 1
    33:25 Volcanic Night 2
    In rest there is a lot of "Forest Day" music extended, which is okay because it is highly addictive :)
    Forest (Day) aka Elwynn Forest, Volcanic (Night) and Orgrimmar was composed by Jason Hayes
    Ruins Original Soundtrack was composed and arranged by Jason Hayes, Tracy W. Bush, Derek Duke and Glenn Stafford (album The World of Warcraft Soundtrack)
    All main areas in WoW Loch Modan Vanilla:
    00:11 Thelsamar
    10:00 Algaz Station
    15:00 Silver Stream Mine
    20:00 Stonewrought Dam
    25:00 The Loch
    30:00 Mo'grosh Stronghold
    35:00 The Farstrider Lodge
    40:00 Ironband's Excavation Site
    45:00 Grizzlepaw Ridge
    50:00 Stonesplinter Valley
    55:00 Valley of Kings
    59:00 Outro (don't click!)
    ***
    As a Vanilla WoW player, I am capturing the old World of Warcraft atmosphere for eternity.

      Hey Kenneth,
      This is something which I am most of the time "fighting". To get to a common ground for most of the listeners. Sometimes I am successful :)
      If you like to hear the same track (called Forest) + rain ambience on different tones, check this out: www.mixcloud.com/meisio/ Maybe you will hear something you like.
      Looking forward to your feedback,

      Still one of my favorite memories and something that should serve as a lesson to anyone ever designing large world games. My first character was a Dwarf in Nov 2004 before anyone really knew anything about this game, and I felt like Dun Morogh took me a week to get through...you get so used to seeing the snow and ice that seeing grass and greenery was such a striking and memorable thing.
      Hellfire Peninsula into Zangarmarsh captured some of that feeling too.

      The tunnels avoided the problem of zones instantly/unrealistically changing at each border as if two maps were stuck together. You never knew what was happening on top of those tunnels on the mountain pass so the new zone came naturally. Brilliant zone design

    My first character (pre TBC) was a human warrior, Arnold. When I realised this game was a true Open World around level 18-20ish, I just packed my bags,ignored my Q-log and went wandering. Spent a lonnng time in Loch Modan, figuring out how to properly level my blacksmith, and go fishing.
    I kept Arnold (later as an alt, my main became a Blood Elf Rogue named Sarduri, and the *best* character I rolled) all the way through to cap in WotLK. I retired him in Loch Modan, by the shores fishing.

    I loved this area. It didn't seem as popular as other leveling areas. There were plenty of people to do the group quests with but not too many that I was waiting around for mobs to respawn. I supplemented leveling here with Westfall and Redridge and always found this a relaxing area to return to. I also loved the progression of Loch Modan to Wetlands.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +3

      Plus, soloing some quests was almost impossible at a certain level. But that was a good thing. You needed to team up, therefore to be social. :-)

      Meisio

    • @hawkstrike18
      @hawkstrike18 5 років тому

      @@Meisio To be honest, I like that being social isn't mandatory these days. Makes the ones who are kind stand out and be rewarded. And I have to say, they're not only a few; many just want to have fun with others (too bad I haven't been active, to assist the friends I've made with that...). I'd just rather know beforehand if I met someone who is pretending to be kind, simply to get a quest done.
      Anyway, just my perspective on this little detail :p

    The old Loch Modan was one of my favorite zones before it was destroyed. It was very refreshing for my dwarf hunter to wander outside the pretty yet frigid, snowy and cold Dun Morogh into this very lovely new zone.
    Aside from the troggs, ogres and Dark Iron dwarves, it seemed like a beautiful and relaxing place. Thelsamar is actually one of my favorite small towns in the game. It just seems like a cozy and nice little town. The Loch itself and the surrounding nature is beautiful. I was really sad when I saw the really impressive Stonewrought Dam destroyed and the Loch drained to almost nothing.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +3

      Hehe, a true dwarf in the heart! I like the dwarfs quite a lot, especially because they have such a nice starting area. If Dun Morogh was snowy and cold, now in Loch Modan we are changing the snow with the fresh green grass of a high plain, you can still have the sensation that is pretty chilly.
      Indeed, big changes in Cataclysm, but at least I was _happy_ to still recognize this zone. It is a pity about the Stonewrought Dam, but maybe we will have a chance to see it repaired in some future expansions. Still waiting "Cataclysm no. 2" but without destruction, where we can see progress in all classic areas of Azeroth.

    Since Classic came out, I've been returning to this game once in a while. Not logging into any higher levels, not saying hey to any old guild mates, not doing anything other than just starting a new character, and relaxing with listening to the music and watching the beautiful landscape.
    There will never be another game ever, that has consumed so much of my time, and brought me so much joy as this game have. I can literally close my eyes when the music is playing, and get a picture clear as crystal of how I adventured the land of Azeroth. I love these old zones and races, because I'm emotionally invested in them. I love them and their stories, the more weird creatures they're adding in the shadowlands the more distant it feels from the real wow.

    Loch Modan is a bit limited in distinct subject material, isn't it? Watching this I naturally remembered other things that might be seen also and there just isn't much.
    Thanks for another great video!

      Yes, nothing else to add except more images from Thelsamar (with the tavern for example). I like the Valley of Kings, Thelsamar and Stonewrought Dam.
      I will add another video without rain ambience after awhile.
      Thank you for the encouragement! I will continue with the videos written by you on the Discussion section :)

    While I did favor the human story lines, this zone did offer tremendous variety. Animals, trogs, ogres, dwarfs, kobold like things...mountains, caves, lakes, excavation sites...so it was an enjoyable diversion from fighting the defias. And since the quest hub was so centrally located it was pretty user friendly.

      Hey, it's a quick reminder that if you liked the video and you want to support me further in my work you can do that.
      Is it really disturbing? Interested in your opinion.
      Thank you.

    • @Sad-mm8tm
      @Sad-mm8tm 6 років тому +1

      Oh, I see. It blended into the music quite well so I thought there was a bike at Loch Modan or something.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +2

      The sound is everywhere on my videos, more like an audio watermark. Something to recognize my work. (I have something similar at the beginning too, the page flips, but it's more faint.)

    • @Sad-mm8tm
      @Sad-mm8tm 6 років тому +1

      Ah, I noticed now. I like it, it really blends nicely into the rest of the video.

    • @Meisio
      @Meisio  6 років тому +2

      Good! Thank you for the feedback. It is concerning if it's disturbing, last thing I want is to have some random sounds disturbing too much. If it made you ALT + TAB to check out what's going on, but without annoying you, than I've done my part :)

    I hope Blizzard will apply BFA graphic to all Vanilla zones one day so I can expirience WoW with the same passion as playing it for the first time. The update on Warsong Gulch is perfect they keep the true essence of the game but improved and polished so it feels like a different game to me. If they could do that to all Vanilla zones I would be super happy. They should keep the old Music it's timeless but the quests can be improved even more with the new mechanics.
