Vanilla Barrens - Music & Ambience (Part 1: Northern Barrens, 3 hours, World of Warcraft Classic)

- 02:20:30One of the most loved area in World of Warcraft Vanilla, The Barrens (First part, Northern Barrens), is presented in a 3 hours music and ambience movie, combining the ambient videos with the original Barrens soundtrack and the savanna sounds (mostly crickets, night owls and dry wind). Lets discover once more the old land of the Orcs and Taurens under the Vanilla only Barrens theme.
The Northern Barrens (Azeroth, Kalimdor continent) is a sprawling and arid savanna that stretches between the Stonetalon Mountains to the west and Durotar to the east. The grasslands and mesas of Mulgore rise to the southwest, while the rest of the Barrens lie to the south and southeast.
The Horde (under the command of Warchief Thrall) built settlements among the dry grasses and arid hills, and placed the Barrens solidly into the heart of Horde territory. The Horde has set up numerous outposts in this barren land, the largest being the Crossroads at the intersection of two major roads (named for the crossing of the main north-south road (Gold Road) and the road from Ratchet in the east all the way to the Stonetalon Mountains in the west). The Northern Barrens are also dotted with numerous farms populated by orcs and their families, and watch towers manned by orcish and tauren guards.
The Horde continued to fight against the quilboar and centaur.
The neutral goblin port Ratchet, led by Gazlowe, was also built here. A group of Cenarion Circle druids led by Naralex arrived to the Wailing Caverns in order to enter the Emerald Dream and restore the harsh land to its former green form.

Thank you for watching! :)
Every star in Barrens' night sky, is memory of a Horde player.
@@MinNyeAccount Some rude ass bitch you are.
I spent countless hours here, when I was just a kid, leveling up my orc warlock. I didn't started in Vanilla sadly, but due to our populated realm, I still saw many players in the barrens. Good ol' days.
What you said reminds me of lion king, mufasa to simba dialogue.. and the place it represents
@@arisuaozora I think that was the point, to remind you of Lion King. I'd be surprised if not.
Thank you :) !
I know the feeling
How I miss those late nights questing listening to that track. Can't imaging a more peaceful moment in my mind
And the 15min corpse run from north to south
For real. I need to start healing again.
You can get back - Turtle wow
@ArGer0 hey I hope you reply. Is turtle wow much better then classic? How's pvp?
@@michaelgraceffa7197 Check it out for yourself. I have been playing Turtle wow casually since 2018 and finally reached level 56. =D Recently played and there are players everywhere of all levels, about 2-3k online on average around the clock.
God this game is something special, I'm playing a lot of classic these days and leveling in these zones again bring so much memories and nostalgia, there isn't a single other game that affected me more than WoW, the musics, the quests, the interactions with other players, this was such an amazing experience that I'll remember for my entire life
ahh, my heart. You nailed it brother.
The true adventure was 2005-2009. On the edge of technology reaching another growth spurt.
I miss the legendary Barrens-Chat. 😄
The battle net whisper at 1:21:53 got me, I was really confused there for a second.
the quiet serenity...the strange lonely feeling...grinding in the night...the most beautiful nostalgia
Vanilla, tbc, wotlk.....
What a Time to be alive, never be forgotten
I miss those golden days of wow
fr fr growing up sucks now even tho wow calls out to me i know better than to put my limited time into this game... vanilla and tbc were the best ever and i miss the social aspect of the game in those eras strangle thorn vale is my fave music
I almost shed a tear.... I'm... home...
4 strength 4 stam leather belt!? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
level 18... ehhhh uhhhh
The Barrens is the one location in all of gaming that gives me the most nostalgia. This place is home.
Exactly.
Skullcrusher was home. Many memories. Remember my first guild Shadow Syndicate, Rage, Nightmares Asylum, Destiny’s Bane, Retaliation, Vulgar Display of Power. 20 year ago but forever a part of my life. Great times
Quantas vezes passei por esses locais, quantos amigos me acompanharam nessas jornadas infindas, quantos raptor tive que caçar, quantos momentos incríveis... que saudade, que tristeza.
I whistle this on dark winter nights on my street. I live in Hungary.
I perfected it's whistle.
Greetings,
From another era.
I still remember that in May 2005 or 2006, when I was still a high school student, a few roommates from our school dormitory sat in the same row of Internet cafes all night playing World of Warcraft. We participated in the exploration of the Wailing Caverns together. From 6 pm to 8:40 pm, we finally found the dungeon entrance. We wiped out countless times and the dungeon refreshed again and again. It was a lot of fun.
It was not until 2 am that we defeated 2 bosses. Most of the time we were lost................
The most memorable thing for me was that around 3 am in the morning, my roommate accidentally fell off the cliff and died when he was jumping down the stairs in front of the 4th BOSS. He ran back as a corpse, got lost again, and finally revived at the entrance of the dungeon where the mobs had already respawned. So we had to fight our way back to find him. It was not until 5 am that we finally met him at the cliff where he accidentally fell off again. The four of us pulled him up from the chair and beat him up for 10 minutes.
It was such a wonderous experience working out how to play. That was a huge part of the buzz for me.
the punishment fits teh crime

The nostalgia is real. So many long nights questing in Barrens getting diff too toons up, there are only a few things that give me this deep feeling in my stomach
I cannot get enough of The Barrens
Thank you, Horde players. Holidays have been ruined for me too. Know I loved each and every player I met from WoW until I couldn't.

yeah thats th best one! :-) epic nostalgia
Damn right, chills everytime
Ye thats the spot!
Yeah, I so feel it. My heart rate always lowers whenever I hear this...
big same man, always makes such a big smile i love it so much, ahhhh what i'd give to be 15-16 again :(
This game had soul.
Keyword: had. Unfortunately.
Barrens has always been my favorite zone, which is one of the reasons I hated Cataclysm. It messed it up too much for me. I love the music, the size of the zone, the quests, everything about vanilla Barrens. Thank you for this lengthy musical tribute!
Night Barrens is so peaceful... 😴
very true
man vanilla feels so long ago. Listening to this really brings back memories of those days
It was long time ago... When I re-entered this zone I spent days just watching everything, walking...
seriously man miss my old friends from this days when i was 14, met my best friend in 2005 that took his life in 2011 , had some truly amazing times and memories on vanilla wow :( RIP Nitzrokk/Faythless from kilrogg

@@zeening Kilrogg for life
@@nicolasvillamil7523 who were you on there? i had the same name Zeening horde Zeeningg /Shookeone for alliance& uhh jamcity i think, man do you remember way back in vanilla the Bane from Conquest getting the bug mount from opening the AQ gates at like 3am, conquest on alliance and temporary insanity were the 2 top crazy guilds on kilrogg competing for kills, and unrelated but the southshore and tarren mill PVP back in the day on kilrogg was incredible
Such soothing ambience. I remember hunting Alliance scum in Ratchet for hours. Good times.
What I look forward to the most for the release of Classic is to re-experience the old vanilla Barrens again. So many memories. It feels just like revisiting your childhood town after living somewhere else for many years.
It will be awesome! I just can't wait! :)

How did you like it now that you’ve had some time with Classic? Honest question
i feel horrible that did not age well at all :( rip vanilla wow
that's super sad to read knowing how classic went now >.

@@James28R bro what u say
My first toon was a troll rogue. I started playing mid wrath and stopped in mop. Sometimes I entertain the idea of playing again but I know it will never be the same. Thank you for the nostalgia.
Wish we all could just drop everything and go back to our childhood rooms and shut the door and play wow forever. 😢
So much nostalgia, I remember playing at night in the Barrens...I love Vanilla!
Yes, Vanilla Barrens at night (especially when few people are around) is just perfect. Did not played during Vanilla times a Horde character, but I've _fixed_ that during TBC. Thank you for watching.
My first memory of the Barrens was running up the hill from Durotar, just dinged level 11. Coming up to the intersection, where left took you to the Crossroads... that feeling of wonder still is with me today, listening to this.
Thank you @Meisio, for the videos. They’re great
The soundtrack alone makes me want to resub to classic. I'd be happy fishing for deviate fish in the oasis's for the rest of my days.
no barrens chat here? i lived for this.
Wow classic 2019 . Were good times
2:41:48 my favorite spot in WOW, I remember doing the nice quest given by the tauren and thinking "I might stay a bit longer here, just to stare at the night sky".
I didn't start out by playing in Vanilla WoW, but my hubby and I started playing in late BC (this was the year that WotLK was about to launch). We started out playing Horde and I remember taking the quest from the Tauren that would be walking up and down Gold Road. I also remember waiting for Takk the Leaper to spawn just to get the little hatchling. I think lots of players would be camping at the big tree just to farm the hatchling to put it on the auction house. Samething went for the ravasaur, darting and the razormaw hatchlings, too. All of the matriarchs or the counter parts (Takk and Dart) had to be killed in order to get the hatchlings. Now they don't have to spawn just to get them. The nests are just there.
Barrens chat was the best :-)
NO CHUCK NORRIS IS THE BEST .
The trumpets in the music makes it soo much better
Southfury river at night is a mood
Whenever I hear the barrens music, I can't help, but feel nostalgic. I remember, when I played at the start of BC, and was leveling up my orc warlock in the barrens. I can still hear the quill boars distant screaming upon death. Or the infamous barrens chat. When I was finally 70 and wad gearing up into pvp gear, the horde players was doing a raid to go into Stormwind. I of course joined. Fun times, when 100+ (there was more than 3 group) horde player running from STV up to Elwynn. Ahh, nostalgia. I got away from the original subject, sorry.
oooo yeah the city raids were soooo freaking awesome!!!! god it's insane how even back then servers could handle that but nowadays on like LOTRO it lags to the point of fucking unplayability because you grouped with a single other person... on an MMO... lol forget raiding... i helped defend against the alliance a few times in orgrimmar and then when i eventually went alliance helped defend stormwind a bunch of times lol, i don't think i ever remember darnassus getting raided though or ironforge especially(mekkatorque in particular)
Listening to this and just waiting to hear the sound a gnoll makes when it aggros followed by "THWACK"
1:22:09 when you hear the Whisper Addon and you think you got a whisper rn XDDD
Another one of my favorite zones. I feel like I say this for everything lol. I loved the thrill as an Alliance player coming to a hostile place. In Vanilla times, we used to raid one of the Horde camps. Now that was some world pvp worth remembering :D
the cross roads, and we'd retaliate against silvermoon post up north in ashenvale
that would be the cross roads, good times in world pvp man i loved the open world pvp vanilla had, the old tarren mill/southshore days and the chasing battles from the crossroads up to ashenvale that encampment for the alliance i cannot remember lol silversong or something?
@@zeening Something like that haha, the good old days of Wow yeah.
2:20:30 gave me chills. Haven't done WC in like, 6-7 years.
Wailing Caverns! Yes, a big part of The Barrens adventure.
Welcome back! :)
And yes while lvling my alts i do listen thank you for making my lvling better
[Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]
Whenever I have tedious project or task I put on this repeat :) despite the barrens gameplay Im very nostalgic for the zone as I had the best/worst social encounters there back in the day.
Barrens chat ftw
Going for the quest achievment in the barrens. after 10 quests or so the revamped azeroth music made me so sick that i just had to play this in the background
Hehe, at some point I am going to make available just the soundtrack + ambience for 8 hours (on UA-cam + downloadable). I hope it will be soon! :)
Thank you for _watching_ :)
They (blizzard) changed the music? Wtf?
I called the Barrens 2005 my second home
Great job with these vids. The feeling just seeing the zones and hearing the music is pure magic after this many years. No other game in my life gives me the same true nostalgia that classic wow does.

the barrens are a good example for something i don't like in retail wow. everything feels so packed. I love the vastness of mulgore, the barrens or silithus
Barrens carries the heaviest memories and moods from WoW ... Gods I miss it sometimes.

WoW US beta, playing an undead warlock, completely clueless, but overwhelmed with this great world..
take me back to 2006
This is before cataclysm.
God so many memories. The counter attack quest, which then did three more times cause it was fun. The Rouge "teammate" in WC who's energy bar was full both in and out of game. Guns of northwatch and that quest where you lead that belf out of the fort. Oh man the fort was fun, while waiting for mobs to respawn we talk about some dnd and other WoW stories we had. The Quilboars, oh so many Quilboars die by my hands and it was so good. Rping at Ratchet, questing at the Venture CO. oil rig, doing my warrior quest, and getting a lot of different types of beer. I hope my guild is still on the sever when I return during December. Cruse you College Exams.
Edit: Almost forgot to mention when I level so much in Barrens that when I went to the mountain with the burning blade I was so overlevel I just auto attack and they were dead.
Ahhh Barrens, I remember when I was leveling my NE druid I loved to go to barrens stealth around horde players and visit orgrimmar from a distance knowing almost no one could see me as a stealthed cat until a level 22 orc rogue found me first ( I was around 21) and then I killed him and it was my first interaction vs another player in pvp and I was so proud to have killed him by myself yep this will stay forever in my mind
I did the same thing with my undead rogue but near big alliance cities and alliance zones. I never camped any lower levels though. PvP servers were so dope.

You posted this in 2017 and only now I see it...omg. I stopped playing Wow late 2012...i remember I was at Crossroads because I loved the Barrens. I had played WoW for many years till that night, I don't know why but the game had taken a turn for me. It was gradual but I just couldn't hang on any longer. It lost something or something or something changed I don't know...it wasn't burn out cause I know the feeling of burn out in a game, I feel it occasionally on ESO, lol. WoW just seemed not the same, I had lost that spark for the game or a spark had left the game I don't know. Anyways, thanks for the feels and memories...sooo many memories...sigh.
