My personal favorite opening of the year is Link Click’s which dropped a day or two ago. It’s so cool and creative. Visually stunning but it also has the characters powers interact with and change the song and visuals
I honestly really enjoyed the OP song but in terms in the visuals - they're incredible. Ep 1 truly might be the best looking episode of the entire series but it also could just be my recency bias.
Maybe I'm in my feelings but the last shots at the classroom made me very nostalgic and kinda emotional. Like it's just a few short snapshots of better times in the character's lives before it all went south.
This opening literally blew my mind for how smooth it was. Honestly, I'm fine with the "less detailed" approach, as long as it gives us extremely fluid animation. One thing I wasn't a big fan of in season 1 was both its look and some more inconsistent and stiff shots. S2 is definitely in good hands with Goshozono as the director.
I was always confused since i rewatched your video of entire working of studio ufotable when you mentioned that the 3 sec scene of yutaka Nakamura had 82 drawings because even if drawn in 1's, it's 10 more drawings than the most possible until this video when you mentioned that one animator animating more drawings than 24 for per second. Thanks for finally clearing my doubt.
CSM ED 8 was my favorite ED and I wanted a similar style for the Shibuya arc OP but this works just as well too. Kamiya definitely should direct an episode or be a Animation Director for one episode and I know the perfect episode for him to direct in the Shibuya arc SPOILERS for the manga Yuji vs Choso. I was always envisioned the bathroom they fight in to be very blue-green/cyan and mixed with the gushing water (the water vfx and the vfx in general in this episode looks fantastic) and the intense red coming off of Choso’s blood vfx would create a gorgeous contrast for the atmosphere of the fight. Plus seeing this OP and CSM ED 8 Kamiya seems to have a good eye for action choreography so I think he could create a gorgeous breath taking intense chaotic bloody fight.
Great breakdown as usual, and another fantastic OP in a year filled with amazing OPs!!! My personal favorites are Paradox from Vinland, Magical Destroyers and Love is Show from Kaguya. They just capture the vibes, themes, and experience of watching their shows immaculately. OnK, Tengoku Daimakyou, this and Hell's Paradise are great as well. For this new season tho, Horimiya and Undead Murder Farce have strong OPs too, and I'm just salivating waiting for the Zom 100 OP to drop.

You already have the basics down with your animation. All you really need to do is work on improving the drawings themselves, but that'll obviously come with time. All the best!

An aspect that took me a couple of times seeing it before I felt like I understood it, was why we keep seeing the trick of taking a scene and revealing it to just be a reflection in Gojo's glasses. But every time a transition like that happens, it's always when Geto's in frame. That's when I began to think that it's not just a "repetitive trick," but is instead telling us that "Gojo in constantly watching Geto."

i think this opening will only last for 5 episode which is the hidden inventory flash back episode. and after that we will back to the timeline of season 1. and i expect a new opening showing the main cast like last season as usual and song theme has to be sticking to season 2 topic and situation as well.
No, it's just the shading style used by Fujimoto that's being replicated by other animators. Similar to how Kenichi Kutsuna animated lightning and then pretty much all the animators including big names started animating lightning the same way, and it got named "Kutsuna lightning".
Tier list (song + visuals): SSS: 3 S: 8, 5, 7 A: 4, 9, 11, 12 B: 2, 10 C: 6 I love chainsaw blood as well. If it was animated it'd probably be my second favourite. This list isn't much, but hopefully I've quenched your months old thirst to know my opinion on chainsaw man EDs.
I’m actually kinda surprised you didn’t put the CSM opening as one of your favorites. Visually it isn’t quite as good as this OP but that’s cause it’s purposely filling it up with a bunch of references as a homage to Fujimitos love for movies. But I think the song itself and just the overall creativeness of the OP makes it one of my favorites, ever.
CSM OP didn't come out this year. It's my second favourite opening of 2022 though, right behind ousama ranking's op 2. Also visually it's definitely superior to this JJK OP; in fact it's one of the best animated openings of all time and definitely Shingo Yamashita's best work.
