Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and give this video a thumbs up, it really helps us out! How many of you are going to have a Reaper in your squad when War of the Chosen launches on August 29?
For some reason they bring to mind the shenanigans I got up to in Invisible Inc. -- a stealth game that plays a lot like XCOM by the Mark of the Ninja/Don't Starve guys. :D that game was all about carefully managing when to go loud and for how long and setting up perfect ambushes. Reapers sound like the ideal support, like a concealment ranger taken to the nth degree.
No, LW2 only adds them for infiltration. I'm talking about the tactical suppressors mod FOR LW2 that makes them actually useful (there is a vanilla version as well).
I was referring to the DLC most other devs put out. XCOM 2 is my first Firaxis game. I don't think I've even bought DLC in the last five years or so. I'm really in love with this developer!
Reapers look incredible. I love the Slavpunk (Is that a thing? I'm making it a thing) style and their awesome stealth mechanics. Really excited to see how the other factions square up to them.
Actually thats how it started. Both the Stalker games and the movie (yes there was a movie. A 70s arthouse Soviet movie by Tarkovsky) were based off Roadside Picnic, the original novel that had a place called the Zone that was the result of a temporary alien invasion - as in, the Aliens came to Earth, and then, mysteriously left, just like they had appeared. In Roadside Picnic, the Zone was the area where the Aliens landed, and was abandoned and cordoned off - but trespassers (also known as Stalkers) went in to the area to hunt for artifacts I recommend reading Roadside Picnic. It not only influenced the movie, but also the Stalker games, and even the recent Metro novel and games (in those, the Rangers were actually called stalkers) As to how some of this ties to Chernobyl: when the Chernobyl accident happened, the Zone of exclusion seemed eerily similar to the depiction of the "Zone" in Roadside picnic.
Iris Trismegistus oh yeah! but both those where after they left right, that was the reasoning for roadside picnic. I was headed more into : Xcom is failing to hold the line , but the zone remains! kinda thing. As for STALKER, wasn't (like most things) a group of well intentioned scientists behind the whole noonosphere thing? as for the books, I still need to read roadside picnic but I did read 2033 and 34. I haven't found any translations of the STALKER books though.
Belive me you don't need to read a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. books, becose most of them is big pile of gaphomania. Different book, different Zone, no relations with each other. Maby 1 or 2 good(readable). Air freshener composition have a greater literary value then this books
The Reapers are probably my favorite of the factions to play with. On my current playthrough, I rolled Squadsight and Shredder on Outrider, so she usually ends up breaking concealment to fight like a normal (If not super OP) sniper - With Banish/Annihilate, a Superior Extended Magazine, and Tactical Rigging to allow for Bluescreen Rounds, she can just delete a Sectopod in a single move - while I got the chance to recruit a new Reaper later on, and specced her fully into stealth. Hanna "Haunt" Karlsen is her name, and "Haunted" is probably a good word for how the Aliens feel when she's around. Sting, Remote Start and two Shrapnel-boosted Claymores let her cause massive explosions out of nowhere, and with Silent Killer, her shots come out of nowhere like bolts from the blue to pick the survivors off one by one. Most missions, she never even leaves Shadow.
These guys look incredible. I'm glad to get a proper stealth class now available to us, who can at least semi-reliably maintain stealth and be a ghost.
If you're a fan of ST TNG, the new characters are voiced by alumni of the show: Johnathan Frakes (Riker) as Volk, leader of the Reapers. Michael Dorn (Worf) as Pratal Mox, a veteran Skirmisher. Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) as Elena "Outrider" Dragunova, a veteran Reaper. Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) as Betos, leader of the Skirmishers. John de Lancie (Q) as Geist, leader of the Templars.
Was that a perk tree with four choices per rank? Or at least 4 rows, up to three of which were filled. Is that going to be a special unit specific thing, or is that going to affect the base classes as well?
It's a special unit specific thing, they get abilities in a different manner. Normal soldiers get similar list next to their normal perks instead of the AWC perk.
I love that fact you have a "old days or prewar" gun. You would think that in a world war the gun that is spread around the world like a AK (and variants) would be used a lot more then space guns in a fight back for earth!
An old classmate of mine would name his x-com agents after his friends at school, myself included. He would go to each of us and ask what class we would like to be, and what skills we would like to have. I asked to be a sniper, though I can't remember the skills I asked for. One day he announced in the school canteen that he finished the game and declared me MVP, for my soldier had been on the most missions in his game, all the way up to the last mission and landed the killing blow. If he's getting this DLC, I sure as hell want him to make me as a Reaper.
Justin Van Volkenburg Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are Come on baby, don't fear the reaper Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
hypeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~ but why is that called a vektor rifle? It actually looks like Dragunov for me. Am I doing firearm classification wrong or I missed something or someone missed something?
No, they just don't use real weapon names or designs. They give vague directions of "oooh, yeah, it looks like this kind of gun", but they usually won't bring in anything that looks real if they can help it.
You all have done such an excellent job with these games, and I'm so proud to be a fan! Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication - it really really shows!
My character has always been a powerful sniper, I really hope that he can turn into the reaper class or atleast take an ability using the new points system.
I love everything we are getting with this new DLC. Only thing I don't like is having to shoot the claymore to detonate it. But Rule of Cool I guess :P
I see a lot of work to do for the Long War 2 Team to integrate this expansion... this shadow concealment looks like Tactical Suppressors with a better UI
These guys look like total bad asses. The only thing I'm curious about is if multiple claymore's could be put on a single person (or if one claymore exploding could proc a claymore attached to someone else in the same pod). If you can chain claymore blasts that would definitely make for some interesting new alpha strike set ups. In general I'm just a big fan of being stealthy, so these guys look right up my alley.
You know I appreciate the idea of Shadow concealment with the whole doing shit in stealth, but that would probably take longer. Considering about 70% of missions are timed.
I really hope they add more helmet customisation options for the late game armors, maybe stuff from the factions even. Compared to the original I was disappointed by the options available in vanilla xcom2
Reapers: Got a message for you, Hunter. Hunter: What is it? Reapers: A Bounty Hunter for you. And a Trophy Collectors, I seen your crimes. Hunter: Try that again, Reaper. I dare you.
Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and give this video a thumbs up, it really helps us out!
How many of you are going to have a Reaper in your squad when War of the Chosen launches on August 29?
Ah, yes, ‘Reapers’
For some reason they bring to mind the shenanigans I got up to in Invisible Inc. -- a stealth game that plays a lot like XCOM by the Mark of the Ninja/Don't Starve guys. :D that game was all about carefully managing when to go loud and for how long and setting up perfect ambushes. Reapers sound like the ideal support, like a concealment ranger taken to the nth degree.
I was hoping for the terror unit, but this will have to do
why won't you let me give you money
Count me in, i'll definitely have one in my squad.
Ah yes reapers we have dismissed that claim - Advent
Davkin I thought the same damn thing
Your extinction is imminent. We are the harbinger if your destruction.
Davkin Damnit you stole my line!
Davkin You forgot the quotes around the word "Reaper".
They better have the leader of the group have a helmet with four horizontal glowing eyes.
Velociraptors of Skyrim I assume they show the leader of the reapers at 1:16
If Mass Effect taught me one thing is that no alien species stands a chance against the reapers
Quick, name one of your troopers Shepard!
And then give him Reaper training?
Indoctrination Theory...
@@DJregs ah yes that copium theory
@@9f81rsd00 Awsome Idea, report to the ship, we''ll bang, ok?
If only silencers existed in the XCOM universe :^)
to be fair gun are still damn load with a silencer on. movies lied to us about them.
Yep. Unless you're far away and using subsonic rounds, you're not going to really get away with it at close range.
Tactical suppressor mod!
*COUGH* Long War 2 *COUGH*
No, LW2 only adds them for infiltration. I'm talking about the tactical suppressors mod FOR LW2 that makes them actually useful (there is a vanilla version as well).
Sorry Bradford, but that's actually the S.T.A.L.K.E.R faction.
Get out of here Stalker!
Looks like 100% slav squad. Good. I'm ready for some cheeki-breeki.
my first thought was "S.T.A.L.K.E.R player now want Xcom2 , more news at 11""
and when they are gonna miss, you can shout: "OI BLIN!", or "SUKA!" :D
Reapers should have their HQ in Chernobyl for true epicness.
There's a mode for that.
Sam Ogone I'm so glad someone put together that stalker soundpack when the game first came out.
Wow, DLC that's actually an expansion, and not just more of the same?
Goddamn, I'm so glad I bought XCOM 2.
The Juice What? Firaxis has had an okay track record with expansions.
I was referring to the DLC most other devs put out.
XCOM 2 is my first Firaxis game. I don't think I've even bought DLC in the last five years or so. I'm really in love with this developer!
The Juice Enemy within, the expansion for the first xcom was pretty good. mech suits and gene spliced soldiers ftw
Jep the fist games expansion whas hell good I lovedt the mecks. and I played at least 3 kampaings after a nother.
My memories a little fuzzy, but Enemy Unknown didn't have any small DLCs (Rulers, Shen's Gift etc.) and just had the expansion right?
Reapers look incredible. I love the Slavpunk (Is that a thing? I'm making it a thing) style and their awesome stealth mechanics. Really excited to see how the other factions square up to them.
Adding the STALKER Bandit voice pack, JUST so that they can go "AH NUU CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMKE".
You want aliens to catch some "masleena"?
Vektor rifle looks like SVD, or Dragunov Sniper Rifle. And look at the soldier's name at the 0:32. Elena Dragunova. Coincidence? :D
"on one turn?"
Stop breaking the 4th wall Bradford!
You could probably do real stealth runs with these guys then.
only if they cut down on the damn time missions
Thankfully there is a mod that makes it so timers don't start until concelement is broken.
j marine just use the True Concealment mod. Makes it so that as long as your whole squad is concealed the timer doesn't tick down.
Kegan682 ci.memecdn.com/1541693.jpg no joke where it is. when I go on my second playthrough(after getting this DLC) I must have it on.
there will be new option which doubles mission timers ;)
my xcom side wants to use them but my mass effect side wants to destroy them
MUST. FOLLOW. ANDERSON'S. WISHES... *twitch*
Serza CZ IT'S ALL FOR YOU, SPACE DAD!
commander leon Shepard i gonna chose to control the reaper for the 1° time thanks to this trailer...
Wrong brand of Reaper man lol
Demonbasher13 DAMN YOU INTER-DIMENSION REAPERS! STOP MAKING MY HEAD SPIN!
Finally! We got a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. faction!
I would read a story based on the xenos landing in the zone.
This will be just as easy as the rest of Earth! (bloodsucker noise)
Actually thats how it started. Both the Stalker games and the movie (yes there was a movie. I thought they were finally gonna add a giant robot cuttlefish character.
I'm Garrus Vakarian and this is now my favorite comment on the Citadel!
Anyone getting an STALKER/Metro 2033 vibe from this faction?
Kinda am
Get out of here Stalker!
Or come here Artyom!
These guys look incredible. I'm glad to get a proper stealth class now available to us, who can at least semi-reliably maintain stealth and be a ghost.
yeah i wish vanilia had more stealth focus abilites.
Attention Stalkers, the aliens never left the Zone. Actually they never left the planet. Have fun!
That would be a pretty intresting crossover. poor xenos thinking they can beat humanity. GET OUT OF HERE S.E.C.T.O.I.D. !
I can't wait for the mods.
You guys are the only ones that didnt destroy the best old games with their sequels, you actually make it better every time. Its remarkable. Congratz!
If you're a fan of ST TNG, the new characters are voiced by alumni of the show:
Johnathan Frakes (Riker) as Volk, leader of the Reapers.
Michael Dorn (Worf) as Pratal Mox, a veteran Skirmisher.

It's a special unit specific thing, they get abilities in a different manner.
Normal soldiers get similar list next to their normal perks instead of the AWC perk.
opens a lot of new modding possiblities though which is great
+Brownninja97 ummm, im on ps4 how the phuk does this help me?!!!
It doesn't. I suggest you consider buying a pc...
@cap sortee You playing on a console doesn't help anyone either so...
A nuuuu cheeki breeki class
An XCOM class with a focus on stealth? SIGN ME UP!
That "real stealth" looks awesome!
Just thinking what the Long War team will be able to extract from these new mechanics!
Omg the last scene with the exploding bus...
THAT'S MY XCOM, BABY!
Nice to see that thea also have a complete new skill menu. Can't wait to see all skills in action.
I love that fact you have a "old days or prewar" gun. You would think that in a world war the gun that is spread around the world like a AK (and variants) would be used a lot more then space guns in a fight back for earth!
Ah yes "reapers"
my name is bolo santosi
An old classmate of mine would name his x-com agents after his friends at school, myself included. If he's getting this DLC, I sure as hell want him to make me as a Reaper.
Goddammit Firaxis, my wallet is not ready for this.
On the other hand, expansion looking real crisp right now. seems like you did everything right...
Don't jinx it now.
Apparently it's so large it almost became XCOM 3
XCOM 3 became 'XCOM 4: Terror of the Deep' for this expansion!
0:38 "Dragunova". I see what you did there...
Seems like Stalker is now canon. CHEEKI BREEKI
Get out of here Stalker!
Fear the Reaper.
Justin Van Volkenburg Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain, we can be like they are
Come on baby, don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand, don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly, don't fear the reaper
The reapers aren't problem anymore, kids are.
Well I just imagined what it would be like having that detonate ability in a place full of cars
hypeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~
but why is that called a vektor rifle? It actually looks like Dragunov for me. Am I doing firearm classification wrong or I missed something or someone missed something?
yeah that looks like a Dragunov sniper rifle. This just my kind of faction: kill all the aliens before they even saw you coming.
Theres some elements that look like an m14
Sam Jones They don't use real life weapon names
probably dodging copyright?
No, they just don't use real weapon names or designs. They give vague directions of "oooh, yeah, it looks like this kind of gun", but they usually won't bring in anything that looks real if they can help it.
Listening to old Bradford switch between old man and guy attempting to be young is cathartic.
I just conpleted xcom 2 with no soldiers death and i find this to be tears inducing. damn you Solomon for making me cry again.
Reapers are the most useful out of the three WotC Factions as they're primarily used as scouts.
"See's Claymore being used"
Flashbacks to Commander Beaglerush and his mine tactics
You guys have my full support. Love what you do and excited about the future of Xcom. Keep up the good work!
You all have done such an excellent job with these games, and I'm so proud to be a fan! Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication - it really really shows!
Well someone saw how popular the suppressor mods are. Looks fun, and that new skill tree! Modders are going to have a field day once this drops.
Can't wait to play this with Long war 2
I just hope that it won't be too glitchy on consoles, 'cause I can't wait to dive into this amazing game once more!
In a Time full of Lazer weaponries
The Reapers: DRAGUNOV
My character has always been a powerful sniper, I really hope that he can turn into the reaper class or atleast take an ability using the new points system.
Sounds handy! Might be useful against alien rulers, like Subject Alpha (Archon King)
I love everything we are getting with this new DLC. Only thing I don't like is having to shoot the claymore to detonate it. But Rule of Cool I guess :P
Hot damn, sneaking and sniping?
My favourite stuff, that!
This actually looks pretty awesome.
More of these, please!! Can't get enough!
CHEEKI BREEKI Commander!
"My name is Bolo Santosi, I am the leader of the revolutionary army known as the Reapers."
I'm gonna name all of these guys Bolo Santosi
Oooh, I just hope we can train our XCOM soldiers with that shadow stealth skill
Can't wait!
Reaper has already touched that [ A D V E N T C A P T A I N ]!
That new class tree!!!!!!!!!
is it just me or this reaper faction have many similiarities with S.T.A.L.K.E.R faction
you are most certinly not alone
august 29 so far away. this made me drool, please pretty please some more game play footage
"Good Luck Commander" , Who need's luck when you can stick a claymore to an advent and take out a squad with one shot
And people told me installing the Reaper voice pack was silly.
So Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii Rangers are now units in XCOM? Nice.
looks great and I see great usage on assassination missions :D
Seasons might not fear the reapers, nor do the wind, the sun, or the rain, but ADVENT should definitely be fear the reapers.
These new units look so powerful that I don't even know why I should be using regular xcom soldiers at all.
Good luck, Commander.
Elena Dragunova...with a sniper rifle.
"Molotov" Jovovich.
Yeah...oh, boy.
i'm really hiped for this expansion
Ah, yes... *Reapers*.
Can't wait till the mods come out that allow for just using the reaper class without picking a side.
Stalker 2 footage seem nice
Holy fuck these guys seem absolutely crazy
Sounds extremely fair.
You can not add anything else, this is good enough.
must destroy reapers
With the same luck missing shots we prolly have same luck continue the shadow :P
powerful rifle with damage roll from 3 to 4, WOW :))
"DON'T CALL ME HORNED. IT'S JUST REAPER."
You know I appreciate the idea of Shadow concealment with the whole doing shit in stealth, but that would probably take longer.
Considering about 70% of missions are timed.
anyone else think "covenant plasma grenade/sticky grenade mod when?" when they saw that sticky explosive?
Looks like Bolo Santosi survived the aliens and is back to kick their ass
These Reapers seem like they'd be at home in the Zone, drinking vodka and eating diet sausage and bread.
Liked and subscribed! I want to play the DLC right meow!!
Am I the only one to whom this seems incredibly "Star Wars"?
"Yes, my master..."
I am glad that I didn't personally bought the game as now I can wait for the Complete Edition.
Edit: who would love underwater missions?
I really hope they add more helmet customisation options for the late game armors, maybe stuff from the factions even. Compared to the original I was disappointed by the options available in vanilla xcom2
OMG!!! I am so hyped!!!
This looks so good... I just hope this expansion also brings some engine optimization.
a cross between ranger and sniper, my two most damaging classes.
Definitely! maybe i can put your Anarchy's Children pack to good use with him!
This is what i Call a good exspension. Im hyped for it
Reapers: Got a message for you, Hunter.
Hunter: What is it?
Reapers: A Bounty Hunter for you. And a Trophy Collectors, I seen your crimes.
Hunter: Try that again, Reaper. I dare you.
Hmmmm yes these will make for some fun solo-op blacksite missions considering it's very hard to get spotted during shadow concealment
"Get out here Stalker!"
time to recruit Simo to Xcom
