The fight against ADVENT continues when additional resistance factions form in order to eliminate the alien threat on Earth. In response, a new enemy, known as the “Chosen,” emerges with one goal: recapture the Commander. Yeah I was gonna use the Reaper but now that I see how powerful the Templars are I'm definitely going to use them.

Also, the Reapers are like the Terran because they are the most human, the Skirmishers are like the Zerg because they are genetically modified soldiers, and the Templars are like the Protoss because they wield energy swords, and use psionic power. It all connects.

Alrighty then, personal opinion is Skirmishers>Templars>Reapers.
Curious regarding how others think.
Templars>Reapers>Skirmishers

Mostly agree, though I need to see how stealth missions have changed.
Honestly, all three of them look pretty cool, and apparently we'll be able to get one of each without too much difficulty.
Templars>Skirmishers>Reapers
1- Templars: I can see similarities between them and the WoW Warlocks (no "mana regeneration" AKA: no cooldowns on PSI moves, spend "magic" wisely), great idea on paper, (IMO) great idea in practice
2- Skirmishers: focused around LOUD missions, where stealth isn't present at the start, I suppose they will be *almost* a must pick on "The Lost" late-game missions
3- STALKERS I mean... Reapers: focused around stealth with sprinkles of action (the detonator, for example), but I think they won't shine as often as the Skirmishers (even if it's just by a little bit, and I hope it will be that way)
I'm not much of a fan on picking stealthy commando habilities... so I don't think I'll use them a lot...
The Templar better shout "UNLIMITED POWER!" when using the Force Lightning.
I like that they need focus to do certain things. These guys look really awesome. I'd have to say these and the Skirmishers are the ones I'm looking most forward to. The Reapers will be useful and seem cool, but these other 2 classes look so much more awesome!
Phill they are all awesome for different purposes. Skirmishers are best against single targets I bet, Templars great against multiples, Reapers are good for recon and small squads covert missions.
think you got that reversed, given all the actions Skirms get.
Remember when the DBZ battle during the final mission was the most anime thing in XCOM 2?

You know, with all these elite and powerful groups around the world, its odd that Xcom would only now hear of them.
Not that I'm complaining, new units are always welcome.
I can already tell that this one will be my favorite of the new classes.

I have a question. All these new music tracks which playing on the background in DLC trailers... I guess game OST will be axpanded too? Cuz it sounds pretty nice.
If only I could have the game so that I can put Reaper,Skirmisher,Templar,and Spark in one squad. That should be cool.

ok clearly the best character, besides wielding dual halo energy swords, i can see mods changing that out to be dual lightsabers

i am a bit concerned about the heroes weapons,
i mean for each tear they only change the "receiver" (the barrel basically), and that's it,
i figured they would equip differend looking weapons like we have for normal soldiers,
a magnetic rifle is different looking to a plasma one.

This looks really really awesome...PLEASE tell me there's an option to recolor their energy though? Not digging the purple drink look. Would make it white to fit their holy theme or blue.

. . . So not even a alien invasion/ occupation was enough to get the Templar's and Assassin's (Reaper's) to put aside there differences.
I think that the Reapers don´t like the Templars because the templars are obsessed with psionic energy and the Reapers might think that this is dangerous since this is the very source of power of the Elders and how they control their soldiers.

The focus ability sounds a whole lot like focus from the game Warframe, to me.

Got a Templar who rolled bladestorm, reaper, and shadowstep. Most beautifully overpowered thing I have ever witnessed. He single-handedly won my legend ironman campaign.

Nice to know that they'll still have pistols to use if their power's drained. I really like the heavy focus on melee/CLOSE RANGE too, since the Ranger is my favorite class.
They're officially called Autopistols here, and they work identically to the Sharpshooter's pistols.

I find the Skirmishers to be more like a ranger as they can kill easily while Templars need focus before killing the masses

TheLPRnetwork Humanity has had psychic energy since Xcom 1. Although I don't think they made it that far in the cannon, humans are supposed to be really strong psychically.
TheLPRnetwork I would guess they are probably some cult that figured out manifesting psionics and believed it was the work of the gods, hence the name "templars"
HowJewDoin' you know with that being said, and considering parts of XCOM 1 got retconned, I like to believe now that XCOM tried multiple times to get psyionic soldiers. But instead some defected from the program and went into hiding.

You can kill them on the battlefield, but the Ethereals will just resurrect them.
You have to kill them in their bases to take them out permanently.

Anton Kirilenko Vahlen is working with Advent and created the Rulers. If nothing else then it'd be Durand.
Spearka , one of the original Psionic soldiers, actually. And Annete Durand is pretty much it, "one of the original Psionic soldiers".
If we didn't even finish researching the skeleton suit, no way did we get Psionics. Remember we didn't even last more than a few weeks in XCOM 2 timeline
bobsickle, yeah, but defeat of XCOM doesn't make Annete any less powerful. She could've escaped on her own.

KotzwurstPro the devs themselves have stated that you will get a hero from each faction easily through early covert actions. So you will have one easily, but a second will be hard to get. And in case you're wondering they said this you can see them say it in their livestream of the story mission, which is on this channel.

You can get all of them, but I heard they have a shared resource they use to upgrade abilities, which if that is right would mean you would have to choose which ones you want to get stronger over a given play through.
Devin Moore also that very same resource can be used on base soldiers for them to learn more abilities as well, such as a ranger having both blade master and phantom, or there secret abilities similar to the advanced warfare center.
I want to hear more about their origins. Like how do these guys have such advanced tech and psionic powers if they have no ties with Advent? probably saving that lore for the in game storyline
The XCOM 2 website already has their backstory up.
"The Templars - led by Geist, one of the original Psionic soldiers - stayed away from ADVENT and their city centers after surviving the fall of the XCOM Project. In their isolation, they developed an almost religious zeal for collecting Psionic energy. Experimenting upon themselves, they even created weaponry that taps into their latent skills. As ADVENT and the Chosen Warlock begin siphoning Psionic energy across the planet, the Templars are now preparing to strike back."
So they're actually former XCOM.

I think they might be the psions from the first XCOM game who've honed their abilities to extraordinary degrees. They've developed into a secret order/resistance and sought others with the capacity to learn the same abilities. What do you think?

Seems having a Templar will help in the Skirmishers/Reaper mission. Wonder is Mr we will get an assassins mission with Abstergo name dropped as well.

@@MrHarshverdhan Not really. 1 reaper is worth more than all 3 chosen put together. And they even drop op weapons for you to use in late game.
With mods on the other hand...
