Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and give this video the thumbs up - it really helps us out! What's your favorite feature of the Skirmisher? Will this unit be in your squad in XCOM 2: War of the Chosen?
Wait wait wait, if they get action every time enemy gets action, DO THAT MEAN ITS 1v1 VS RULERS?! Think about it, some 1 takes action, then ruler moves, but to that, skirmisher also gets an action, to that, ruler gets an action, thus creating cycle of constant back and forth between skirmisher and ruler
Yeah, but what is the nickname going to be? They probably number each troop. Elders: " Yes trooper 33333, kill xcom, kill them now." Trooper 33333 "I shouldn't" Elders: " do it"
They are possibly not merely clones but former Earth's ex military who willingly went through genetic modifications, with clones only coming in when volunteer pool became more scarce. Psionic chips was added for insurance measure, to make sure loyalty is insured. This is basically reverse Star Wars storm trooper scenario (originally Galactic Senate having no standing army, massively boosting their forces with clones and then slowly wean those forces with ordinary humans through Galactic Empire time) and would provide much more reasonable belief why the rest of Resistance hate them so much. Clones at least created and have no choice in the matter to fight or not, since its their lot in life. Collaborators willingly submitting to genetic modification to ADVENT soldier, after Earth's defeat, when they was supposed to protect Earth from aliens will draw much ire for being sellouts who willingly even after Earth' defeat in first XCOM surrendered and joined with genocidal enemy.
actually, they're very likely early ADVENT clones. thing to remember is you as the commander were jacked into the Psionic Network for two decades. it wouldn't be surprising that some ADVENT troopers would get chunks of your personality and will to defend humanity. mean, hell, ever since Jsleezy's mod came out with the ADVENT faces, i've had a bunch of defected ADVENT anyways with precisely that backstory.
1) That takes a lot of resources to create that many "Chunks Of You" when there plenty of surrendered manpower already available, trained and experienced for warfare. That would take significant amount of time to breed global army the size of ADVENT. To control Earth you need army in Millions (or way more - billions). Cloning one guy, even if he/she is the best soldier in the world, even with perfected cloning would take decade at least and centuries at most. - Even if there was some kind of giant mother ship with cloning bays. 2) Even that is easy to refute for the fact that ADVENT was "Formed" out of human collaborators who went under alien ruler ship umbrella and thus they required to supplement their own military forces to ADVENT. This would of been really shitty secret or no secret at all if giant millions (billions) numbered clone army would suddenly appeared from the thin air to serve ADVENT or even slowly pushed in, especially Dr. Tygan not being the only rogue professor out there working for ADVENT. - You rescue a lot of ADVENT defector scientists and they would of easily known by that point. 3) Commander was jacked, but it wasn't for his individual fighting ability but for strategic, tactical kills ("Commanding"), and apparently high psionic potential. Also you are forgetting the fact that ADVENT does recruit actively into its ranks from human population (if they catch high psionic to turn into goo material for Elders being side benefit and those that are not sent to rank and file with psionic chip planted in their head), in fact some of them come not even gene modified (the ones you can recruit at Black Market). If you play missions in city slums, you will notice ADVENT posters plastered all over the place. Bradford also mentions ADVENT mutiny at one point or another. Captured ADVENT trooper in one of the leads, who dies after interrogation also shows independence not akin to a clone trooper. There are just way too many hints to refute" They are All Clones", but we'll only known when Firaxis says something about it.
Caliell one small thing, most clone troopers from Star Wars actually did show some form of independence, they customized their own armor and gave each other nick names. Some even broke away and became mandalorians pursuing their heritage from Jango Fett after they got their chips out. They had varying levels of individualism, personality, independence, etc. Probably the same for the non controlled skirmishers that got their chips out, they're all special snow flakes.
*Reaper trailer* - "Wow, these stealthy guys seem neat. They could be a cool option to put in your team." *Skirmisher Trailer* - "The only way these guys could be better was if they instantly killed all enemies upon entering the level."
I wonder how will an Alien ruler vs. Skirmisher work? will they keep getting reactions from each other, essentially making it a one turn brawl between the two until the ruler tries to escape? or only one reaction?
"Hi, I'm Stealy, and I'm a Skirmisher. Looks like we've got some nice stuff here: - Use the hook on enemies after using the hook to climb; that's 2 grapples. - Actions when you get shot at; that's 3 grapples. - Battlelord that's nice; that's... 6 and a half grapples"

TheArklyte thanks for those I only just started a playthrough of xcom 2 and I'm keeping things vanilla. that's including the use of cosmetic mods but those two are going on my list for my second playthrough
If you're a fan of ST TNG, the new characters are voiced by alumni of the show: Johnathan Frakes (Riker) as Volk, leader of the Reapers. Michael Dorn (Worf) as Pratal Mox, a veteran Skirmisher. Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) as Elena "Outrider" Dragunova, a veteran Reaper. Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar) as Betos, leader of the Skirmishers. John de Lancie (Q) as Geist, leader of the Templars.
I love the idea of Aliens that abandoned advent, it opens up a whole new realm of possibility. I hope we also get the ability to recruit traitor factions of Vipers and Mutons, and maybe berserkers (Doubt it would be possible, especially since the berserkers would butcher the stealth mechanics of the game since they are anything but stealthy, but I can dream dammit).
BentoBox No it would just extend the turns by 2 more actions. One for battle lord, one for ruler reaction to battle lord. Also they made it were rulers don't react to everything. Small actions like reloading won't trigger a ruler action. I think it's now mainly firing or movement that will trigger.
Unless you mod your game, you get one of each at the start and then it's up to RNG whether you get more. I've only had one reaper joining to me during my first game, and I've completed close to 50 missions.
@@320FL There is ways to make it bit more easier. Sometimes they might rarely just join out of nowhere (as in you get contacted by one of the leaders and they say they have a soldier who wants to join X-com). Second, slightly more complicated but more quaranteed is way is to do resistance covert ops. The trick there is that you have to have fairly high influence with factions(raised by completing chosen related operations). Then, it's up to RNG whether you get "recruit faction soldier" ops, though likelyhood of course rises when you've got three on high influence. Personally, I only recruit them unless my original faction hero has been killed. I much rather use my time trying to sabotage Avatar project, Doomsday counter really is a bitch in commander+ difficulty.
Kinda reminds me of the clone wars series where Rex and a few other clones were able to remove their chips which made order 66 ineffective once they removed them
How on Earth does this have 9 thumbs up already? It was announced only about a minute ago at time of typing! After watching the video, it's hard to blame 'em. I'm practically salivating from the potential of these magnificent soldiers.
Firaxis/2k has a pretty well established pattern of how they do games? Major releases about every 5 years with 1 or more expansion packs in between. Xcom Enemy Unknown released Oct 2012 Xcom Enemy within expansion Nov 2013 Xcom 2 released Feb 2016 Xcom 2 War of the Chosen expansion Aug 2017 Civilization 5 released Sep 2010 Civilization 5 Gods and Kings expansion Jun 2012 Civilization 5 Brave New world Jul 2013 Civilization 6 released Oct 2016
It was more 2 dlc and 2 customization packs. Of the dlc 1 sucked ass as it spawns mid to end game bosses early game. Then the customization packs 1 is a preorder item that barely adds anything if you didn't preorder (cost isn't worth it) and the other pack makes your soldiers look like they are cast members for the Purge movies.
Looking at these different factions/classes and my first reaction was, "Holy crap! My team is going to be incredibly OP!" Then I got to thinking......"Wait.....if XCOM is going to be getting these incredibly OP units......then what the hell is ADVENT going to be getting?" I'm scared now. lol
They got Chosen who can summon reinforcements, can be immune to certain attacks and are utter monsters to deal. They got Purifiers, who use flamethrowers and risk exploding upon death, so melee is no-no. They got Priests, who use psionic powers. They got Spectres, who knock out your troopers and create temporal clone of them to fight for ADVENT.
2000 years ago a skirmisher met a Viper lord on the battlefield. They are still taking turns shooting at each other and missing to this very day while the entire force on either side is waiting for the turn to end to get back their action points.
Here's what I want to know: Since Skirmishers are fully-fledged ADVENT hybrid soldiers, does that mean they could pick up and use ADVENT's magnetic rifles and use their transport ships? Because I recall that those are biometrically-locked and booby trapped to explode if humans try to use them. But an ADVENT soldier with their DNA... he might open up some really neat opportunities for XCOM to expand their airforce and armory a little bit...
I'm liking this expansion more and more! I really hope the changes would create endless opportunities for multiple playthroughs and it seems like it's heading to that direction
So they can shoot a lot, they can take more actions, they're good at melee, they can grapple.... what are they bad at? EDIT: At 238, the number of likes on this comment have passed the number of hours I have put into the game. Here's hoping Long War 2 gets a quick compatibility update for this expansion, folks.
stalhein61 I think they're mostly there to counterbalance some new big bad? There are 3 of these OP classes, (2 revealed right now) and it seems like you can only choose 1.
I'm liking the new classes and all but I think I'm really going to be investing more time and resources into spark units because they got a upgrade in the aiming department and I don't think they will get fatigued or have a mental breakdown and try to hide in the infirmary for weeks like I know some of my soldiers will be doing lol.
it sounds like that a high ranking/ high levelled Skirmisher will be a beast of a close range fighter/defender. This expansion is looking very cool. Can't wait to play it.
their customization will be unique and not applicable to other XCOM. However, Reaper and Templar are gettingn new faces that you can also apply to regular soldiers. Source - dev post at reddit
At 1:00 you can see the information for the Reflex ability. In some Let's Plays that I am watching the perk has an additional 'This can only be triggered once per mission.' This version (in this video) is much better, so which is in the final release of the game?
i wonder how the skirmishers managed to remove their control chips while under the control of ADVENT? maybe some other resistance fighters figured it out? that's a question i would really like to know
SKIRMISHER UNIT: >Extremely mobile >Can launch self at enemies to give them a melee beatdown >Effective at close range Rating? *"WE CALL THIS A DIFFICULTY TWEAK."* Modding community, please add a Cloaker voicepack.
HOOOOLY CRAP THE SKILL TREES ARE AMAZING. I can't wait anymore. I've been waiting forever now, watching playthroughs and I just want to play this game again..
And there is still coming new content! I love this game. Love the devs and also the long war devs! Best game in the universe. I'm sure if aliens would swarm our tiny world they would love this game too :D
I am so in love with the Xcom franchise. I recently immortalised myself by adding my name to the player roster for Julian Gollop's Phoenix point (2018) and can't wait to play WoTC. Long live Xcom!
I think the bullpup should be a crit based weapon. So maybe a from med-long to long range the crit chance would be 0 but once u start to close the gap the crit chance goes up all the way to 60 or 70% within around 3 tiles. Also they should have a base crit damage increase of 2 or 3.
It will be interesting to see how Battlelord interacts with the Leader ability... If both the Skirmisher and the alien Leaders get another action after each action the other side takes, will it just be a non-stop race to see who kills the other first? Or does it only activate once per turn, for each enemy unit you can see?
Looks like the only thing cool about designing these soldiers would be their armor, but these guys are still going to one of the most badass troopers we'll get.
Layne Warner dude they're badass check out his scars without his helmet. That's basically what Skirmishers are, Top tier soldiers with Scorpion from Mortal Kombat mixed in. If you aren't already sold idk what to tell ya lol.
Looks cool :) Still very excited for the Templars though! But one question, will we get to have all three new classes at once? It's been made clear that the 3 groups dont like eachother. Does this mean we will only get to choose 1 or 2 at most, or will we be given ways to make all three groups be able to coexist and get along so we can have a Reaper, Templar, and Skirmisher on our roster?
So 1:14, the skirmisher can get a skill that gives him an immediate action after each enemy completes theirs. But the alien bosses from the Alien Hunters dlc also have this. If it isn't coded right you might end up with just those two in an infinite reaction loop to each other. Either way, super excited about this game.
You can get multiple, but they've stated that it gets increasingly difficult with each special soldier you bring on. So what I take from those statements is - the price goes exponentially.
First I was like: I can't trust these guys, then I was like: HOLY SH*T I need me one of these! Favorite skill: Take an action after eac enemy action, my own personal Alien Ruler, baby!!!
Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and give this video the thumbs up - it really helps us out!

This guy will definitely be in my squad, a shock grapple to stun mechanical enemies AND more attack opportunities? Count me in!

Skirmishers are part of a faction. All of these are.
Now I am really interested in the background of the templars...
This is the only game that managed to get me hyped up enough to raise the money for this expansion! Nice job!!
snek defector when?
Playable aliens mod.
Snek defectors NOW. Go Chimera Squad!
SKIRMISHER UNIT:
>Extremely mobile
>Can launch self at enemies to give them a melee beatdown
>Effective at close range
Rating?

Modding community, please add a Cloaker voicepack.
HOOOOLY CRAP THE SKILL TREES ARE AMAZING.
I can't wait anymore. I've been waiting forever now, watching playthroughs and I just want to play this game again..
now this is awesome, futuristic soldier people break the chains of their old army to join the resistance. Nice!
So we get our own version of the Viper tongue pull? lovely!
And there is still coming new content! I love this game. Love the devs and also the long war devs! Best game in the universe.
I'm sure if aliens would swarm our tiny world they would love this game too :D
Just COM 2, coming soon to a Steam server near you.
Wow this looks like it actually looks like it adds stuff to the game instead of cut content. What year is it?
I am so in love with the Xcom franchise. I recently immortalised myself by adding my name to the player roster for Julian Gollop's Phoenix point (2018) and can't wait to play WoTC. Long live Xcom!
I can't wait to see what the Templars are capable of.
If this skill tree will be our soldier build possibilities, I'm already sold.
his helmet is so cool it makes him look like the arkham knight
Definitely my favorite faction so far.
I think the bullpup should be a crit based weapon. So maybe a from med-long to long range the crit chance would be 0 but once u start to close the gap the crit chance goes up all the way to 60 or 70% within around 3 tiles. Also they should have a base crit damage increase of 2 or 3.
These new classes remind me of the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock.
New Mass Effect 3 multiplayer DLC looks awesome...oh wait
Steel Bear
Dammit, I laughed at that more than I Should have XD.
I can see a little of destiny's titan in this one and I frigin love it! I hope there a suprise in the expansion they don't tell us
I just enjoy hearing Bradford saying "Bullpup". Cool DLC btw great job
It will be interesting to see how Battlelord interacts with the Leader ability... If both the Skirmisher and the alien Leaders get another action after each action the other side takes, will it just be a non-stop race to see who kills the other first? Or does it only activate once per turn, for each enemy unit you can see?
These guys will be best friends with Rangers with that ability to "Get over here" enemies
Gonna be an awesome to have this character and the sniper that can stay unspotted to clean house a mission
REALLY want it to be Vahlen as their leader
EDIT: Ok not their leader but at least the one who takes out the chips
These guys rebelled against Advent? Welcome to the revolution
awesome. can't wait for some details on the skirmisher
Fanfic authors to your stations!
This seems to be my second favourite class, always wanted to have advent troops
Close range!? (Sign me right the fuck up boy it's been too long since I have been"CLOSE RANGE!")
Now my Avent rebel character have a real class!
I think those scars are for every Skirmishers, and I did said they'll be are most badass soldiers.
Colonel Pratal "Mox" Mox
Shit guys, who brought Mox Mox here?
Definitely the class I'm looking forward to the most. An Overwatch-oriented build seems very powerful.
Heavy armor? Cool grapples? YES YES YES
Release this now! Looking forward to it.
Either way, super excited about this game.
by that point its just gonna be a 1v1
@@alvinvalentino5797
Ngl that’ll be pretty cool to have a powerful unit that can be forced in a duel with the boss
*skirmisher reaction*
Sheldon: Rico! Why are you joining XCOM?
Rico: ...
Rico: Just Cause.
Interesting how Advent rebels were first proposed as a mod not long after the game came out. Looks like Firaxis was listening.
Oh hello Worf, nice to see you again.
SUCH A LUST FOR EXPANSION....WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Junior Jester A Weapon to Surpass Advent
inb4 people port metal gear rex in as a (controllable) sectopod
0:54 AYY
Do you only get one hero soldier per faction or can you get multiple ones from each if you invest more resources and time?
jayo multiple
You can get multiple, but they've stated that it gets increasingly difficult with each special soldier you bring on. So what I take from those statements is - the price goes exponentially.
choosing between these guys and the templars will be tough
0:39 Wait..... There's Chryssalids? *Nooooooooooo!!*
"Ex-Advent", I knew from that one video they looked alittle too advanced for a human group! 😂😂😂
Is there something to mitigate how massively OP Battle Lord sounds? How is this just not the best class?
First I was like: I can't trust these guys, then I was like: HOLY SH*T I need me one of these!
Favorite skill: Take an action after eac enemy action, my own personal Alien Ruler, baby!!!
Am I the only to get a Mandalorian feel from these guys? It seems like these guys would also have a method to "recruit" advent soldiers.
I love how XCOM units are getting crazier.
What will they think of next? XD
Can't wait to see what the Templar, the psychic users, will be able to pull
thanks for put subtitles in spanish!:) im very excited to play this expansion
awesome! I have always wondered if the soldiers could have any free will
Advent "Wolverine" Shinobi with Rapid Fire and Light Armor and Combatives :) + Spiderman's Arc Thrower
