My left china, the Zildjian A Custom 18" broke so I changed it few days back with the A Ultra Hammered 19" china.
Here is a little soundest (raw sound) and a brutal drumming, mixed to show how it could sound on a full drums mix !
This china is super trashy and a lot higher compared to the A Custom. And the Volcano bell is pretty amazing, the position of the china won't change on the stand. Hope it gives a longer durability to the china !

how do you think it would compare to the sabian aax holy china? Is it worth having both on my kit?
The A Ultra Hammered has a lot more sustain than the Holy China which is cut. It depends on how you like two chinas to sound 😉
The best thing is if you are able, go play both of them in your local store !
Therefore, I think the both will sound great together 😊
The Zildjian as your main, and the Holy as your "FX" china, but that's just my thoughts !
Oh so you mic up each cymbal individually? (Except for splashes)
Mustis1524 exactly !! :) I'll add a cardioid condenser microphone for the two splashes so they'll be more precise in the mix and the spacing will be done with the 2 sm81 micing the crashes

Yes they are !! I really love bright cymbals to contrast with the deep shells !
I have A Custom Projection crashes which are thinner than Medium for more projection !

Man, you have incredible skills. Please explore all drum genres, when you'll be tired of metal stuff, there's a world...Don't you love Erskine? Or "El Negro" Hernandez? Or Dennis Chambers? With your flawless tech you have so much potential...IMHO the problem in this genrle is that it's easy to be repetitive, and not musical. IMHO.
I can understand what you say, for now I am into extreme metal, but that's sure one day I will leave this genre for another horizon 😊

Well, to be honest, the one I am using today is the one I have in this video 😉
No crackles, no problem at all ! But it is the auxiliary china, so the one I use the less. I did many covers, shows and rehearses since then so it is pretty solid ! :D

The only thing that sounds unnatural is the kick, and that's because it's a sample
@@ThomasCremier sorry for the late reply... Just listened to the Septic Flesh cover The vampire of Nazareth. Now it's much better, just use less reverb especially on the snare to avoid the confused cavern effect. You want a much more focused/heavy sound
