I've been thinking about getting into tattooing and ... Damn, thanks you girl, this video was super super interesting and you're so amazing. I feel even more encouraged to start tattoing.
Thank you for the insight, it's helpful as I want to pursue tattooing one day too. I have just had my main 2 pieces of my lower arm half sleeve and getting the filler done in November. I appreciate the genuine guidance and input you give to your viewers.
Another thing good to have is a good set of colored sharpies for drawing straight on skin patterns our to touch up stencils that might have lines missing ECT.
@Barbara Crane I want to get into tattooing. But I cannot draw at all. I have no experience whatsoever in drawing. How long does it take to be able to draw? What do you recommend I practice/learn drawing? Because I am overwhelm at the fact I have to learn drawing and then learn tattooing. The goal seems very hard to reach atm :(
Find your style. Practice it as often as you can. It is better to perfect one style you truly enjoy first. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and experiment with techniques.
Maybe those kits are okay to start off, but I know a lot of people that start tattooing later go into tattooing people with the same machine/equipment. And I was just thinking that it is better to start off with somewhat good equipment (doesn't have to be super expensive, just bought at a legit tattoo store). Also because Im not 100% sure that those Amazon kits will be the best quality and then the experience of having bad and cheap equipment could determine how you feel about tattooing all together.
I'm super late but I've been doing tattoos on myself for 2 years ish and I've been really thinking of getting into tattooing others (other than my sister lol). This was super helpful 🤍🤍🤍🤍
Tattoo apprentice here !! Absolutely not. It needs to be in an autoclave because if it isn’t cleaned and sterilized properly then it is very easy to transfer blood and skin diseases. Better safe than sorry because you can be arrested for unsterilized tubes
I just turned 30 & am apprenticing after 11 years of bar tending & wasting my life. I did however, attend art school during my high school years & almost landed a scholarship to a great art college but, behavioral issues knocked that down. All I’m really saying is, focus on the artistic basics & draw your ass off. Ignore any doubts that you have about your age.
Your inspiration of tattooing is the best many people say may god bless you but I say may humans and world and god respect you I love your tattoos And who doesn’t have a channel of tattoo when they have so many tattoos on themselves love you later your tattoos are gonna be mystery history later👣👀💄🧥🥾💼🕵🏻♂️
You've cross contaminated everything. Please practice better hygiene. Take a blood borne pathogens course etc

I was just training at the time. I was training to handle the machine itself and I wasn’t paying attention to hygene since I wasn’t tattooing a person. It was a fun thing to try, but Im not a tattoo artist now and I don’t think I will ever be but if I do decide to become one, trust me I would be as hygenic as possible when it would come to tattooing real people.
Technically you’re a scratcher. You seem committed to doing everything correctly and safely which I respect a lot but it’s not the correct way to start tattooing. I respect you and really enjoy your content. Many amazing artists start as a scratcher but I just wanted to clarify to anyone watching that this is not the correct way to start tattooing, apprenticing is and many tattoo artists won’t take scratchers as apprentices because they have picked up s lot of really bad habits that is too much effort to undo.

Since you sound so sure about titling me a scratcher, please clarify what a scratcher is and what you think I am doing wrong? A tattoo artist named Emil Salmins (@emiltramp) is my mentor and I would not doubt his skills and knowledge since he is a professional. So I believe he is teaching me the right way, or at least the way that would be easier for me.
Barbara Crane Barbara Crane Barbara Crane I was under her impression you didn’t have a mentor because someone commented asking when you will be ready to apprentice and you said that you are ready but you need to find a place to start. Maybe there’s a misunderstanding? I’m not doubting his skills or yours. I was simply talking about how f you don’t have a mentor then technically you would be a scratcher because your previous comment made it seem like you’re not an apprentice and didn’t have a shop. I just figured you would reply “I already am an apprentice” rather than “I am ready I just need to find a place to start”

I even said that in the start of the video ( 1:40 to be exact) :D About the apprentice I meant that I would be ready to be at a tattoo shop 24/7 as an apprentice, but right now I am just training at home and sometimes at the shop with my mentor. Maybe I am the one not rly understanding the role of an apprentice, because I thought apprentices are at the tattoo shop as often the tattooers are.. at least thats how it works here.
Barbara Crane I SEE! It’s all a giant misunderstanding then. You are already an apprentice even if you haven’t touched skin, at least that’s what an apprentice is in California. That’s why I was confused. I know you mentioned it in the video but then I read the comment.
You seem so happy. Also you've definitely got at least one customer! *points to myself*
Yes, recently I am trying to be very positive and it looks like it's shinning through :D
Great, will keep in mind, hehe

I feel extremely lucky to have landed an apprenticeship with an awesome mentor.
If that opportunity presents itself to an aspiring tattooer - snag it.
I f with ur vibes heavy. So chill n positive!

I'm not sure whether you've tried a rotary machine yet but I definitely recommend them
That's so exciting that you are getting into tattooing!

This is really helpful! Thank you. :)
May I ask what camera you use? Your camera quality is sooo good!
What machine/ink/cartridges for simple lined tattoos?
If you’re ever travel-tattooing like how I see some artists do, do make a YT update! I’m sure lots of people will support you ♥️
Do you have a link for that plastic box? I’ve been looking for a similar one but can’t find it
Haha, sorry, no. I got it at a home depo. It is just a tool box. :)
this is the first video of yours i’m seeing and the production quality is 👌 really awesome.
Do you use dry paper towel or soaked in green soap to wipe that ink from the skin?
why not order the amazon kits to get started ?? i did and it’s perf for first time tattooing learning a lot
u jus said don’t buy it, gave not a single reason

How artistic were you before you decided to start tattooing
I would love to get a tattoo that is made by you . Would be awesome. Let me know , when can i sign up 😄
Do you not use a machine bag too.. great content though big thumps up for ya..

Must being drawing skills, to tattoo apprentice?
I’m currently apprenticing for myself & it does help to draw as much as you can
I wish you the best on your journey! 🤍🖤

could you just boil the metal grips in a pot of water for 5 or 10 min to sterilize them?

@@mariekelley3594 ah ok. good to know👍
@@mariekelley3594 and thanks for the reply!
You said not to buy a tattoo lot of ebay I'm guessing not from amazon either... so where should I get my first tattoo kit to practice tattooing?
a tattoo supply shop
I‘ve got mine from killerinktattoo.com and i‘m very happy with it! There are different sets from beginner to professional so you can make your pick :)
I would love to have a little piece made by you :)
Can we learn tattoo at home or classes is must ??
Start by creating an art portfolio, then go to shops asking for an apprenticeship. That is the correct way to start
Are you from Latvia?
When will you be ready to apprentice?
I am ready now, just need to find a place where to start, but time will tell :)
Barbara Crane that's amazing, good luck!!
You are cool! Thanks for the video!😊
I'm pretty sure the ball in the ink is a agitator lol I think
