Me who just got my own machine and packs of fake skin from Amazon....TO BE FAIR I myself didn't buy them, I let my mothers buy them because they wanted the best, cheapest option for a beginner cause I'm 17 and I've never held a tattoo machine before but I'm also really passionate about being a Tattoo artist
Also I'm glad I saw you blotting the ink, I tried rubbing it off like i see ppl do with actual skin. I ended up smearing and staining the skin paper when I was filling in the color.
I wanted to thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I'm a bloody beginner and your website as well as your videos help me so much and don't feel so alone on this journey! I can only imagine the work it takes you to put it all together in such high quality and stuctured as it is on your website! I'm amazed on how much we can access for free!
Awesome video brother! I just ordered a bunch of things to get in to tattooing, it should be here this weekend! I ordered some “Yuelong” fake skin that you recommended in a previous video because of the thin-ness of the skin. Just so I can be extra sure I’m not blowing out lines. I will definitely order some of these nice skins as well though! Your channel is badass and you’re definitely helping so many people with this information! Thankyou for all your hard work and effort for real 🙏🔥🌍
Man.....I've been watching your videos every night for like 3 weeks and you're definitely a GOAT for teaching all this! Question.....what's a good and budget friendly first tattoo gun you'd recommend? I know you have videos on it, but I figured I'd ask ! And do you think someone could become a tattoo artist and JUST do lettering? Thanks man!
Tip. Fun fact. What have you. When you are getting comfortable and you're still on fake skin. Take your skin and kind of fold it around something that's the size and dhape of body parts.
I think people who judge others for using fake skins must not appreciate the process and all that goes into it. When I was very first learning, there was no videos you could watch to help you and certainly no such thing as fake practice skin - you took a chance and got a human Guinea pig and hoped for the best. Don’t waste any time or energy on people who have any kind of problem with using fake skin.. sometimes you just wanna tattoo a cool design and have no one to put it on. They can get over it. 🤙🏻

@TATTOOING 101 How come when I do a line pass on fake skin it never gets a dark bold line. I have to go over it like 3 times to get it okay. Is this normal?
That’s pretty normal with fake skin. It doesn’t hold ink the same way real skin does, so you often need extra passes to build up a bold line. I'm using an Emalla tattoo gun. And I'm using the skin paper that came with the kit. Does anyone know if this is good quality for a rookie like myself?
Possibly it’s how far your needles hang out, if they do not fully retract back inside the cartridge each time they will not pick up enough ink. Just a guess.
@@TylerMoffatt do you know what’s the standard RL for basic tattoos? Like for line work, outlines etc? What’s the most common standard RL? I just got into tattoos been practicing with 3L (0.35 MM) and I’ve noticed the needles are wayyyy too skinny. So is 7RL the perfect size you wanna be at? Also like he said in the video, with the 3L I’ve noticed the lines are very shaky and since needle is very skinny it literally drops ink anywhere the needle goes, my hand can move barely a centimeter and you’ll see it in the lines from the needle. Thanks in advance man. 🙏🏼
Practice skins aren’t washable-once ink is in, it’s there for good. If you want to keep practicing, you can use different areas of the skin until it’s fully covered
What do you use underneath the fake skin to dampen the sound? I’ve tried different things but the seem to be loud. I’m just trying to find something I can tattoo in my apartment at night so the neighbors don’t here it all night 😂
does one need to disinfect fake skins? does one need to do all that jam one does with real skins? I need to practice lines, lines, lines, shades, shades, shades. Do I need to do the whole cleaning jam every time when I'm actually just tattooing at home?
Yep, always clean up, even with fake skin - always try to approach your fake skins like you are tattooing a person. Builds good habits for the real thing. Keeps your setup tight.
I've been practicing stick n pokes for about 3 weeks on fake skins. I've gone threw 3 7rl needles because I was able to tell they were getting over used and started to Flare out. I cleaned them by dipping them in alcohol and wiping dry with a paper towel. Also if you leave them out you need to worry about accidentally getting urself
So is a 7 Round Liner whats normally used for line work? Outlines etc? Right now I’m using 3 RL and can tell it’s too skinny, lines are so shaky etc… someone please help me… what RL is the standard for basic line work and outlines?
Fake skin itself won’t damage your machine, but if you go too deep and hit the table, you’ll blunt your needles. As long as you’re using the right technique, keeping your machine clean, and maintaining it properly, your machine will be fine
I saw a video about this issue recently. It may be because your hand speed and the machine voltage doesn't ''match''. Try moving your hand faster or lowering the machine voltage.
It's said in the video to use a thin layer of vaseline on the skin after the stencil has dried. In another video (a Domestika course) I learned that water with glycerine soap is used for cleaning; not just paper. Also you shouldn't use toilet paper, because that dissolves to easily. Use good quality paper kitchen towels instead.

my thing is like why do ppl judge me for using fake skin instead of messing up ppls real skin does the same techniques apply ?

I noticed a faint shadow of ink after you did the lining for the stars. Is that something that only happens on fake skin or real skin as well?
Thx for the tips

Does the ink for practice on practice skins and fruit matter? What kind would u recommend?
Taking hella notes ngl 😅
Do you use a baby wipe to access ink of or just like a damp paper towel
I know on real skin u would most likely not use baby wipes. Just paper towels. And then 'Green Soap'
Can you do a video on how to stencil on fake skin? And any fake skin recommendations?
We've got a couple of videos on both these topics on our channel! Feel free to check them out 😀

Question. Where can I buy fake skins? Amazon or elsewhere. What is a good product/brand to practice on?. Thank you.
I'm using an Emalla tattoo gun. And I'm using the skin paper that came with the kit. Does anyone know if this is good quality for a rookie like myself?
Note: the industry doesn't like people calling them guns. They are machines. Hope this helps a wee bit
How do you make it so it doesn’t smudge whenever you wipe the tattoo? Every time I wipe it it’s ruined most of the skin and tattoo
Try dabbing instead of wiping. Wiping can smear ink and irritate the skin. Dabbing keeps it clean without messing up the work.
Is the ink watered down?
How do you get the lines so black and vibrant? When I do it, it looks like a pencil 😭
I have the same problem, it's SO annoying (will be back if I find a solution or something)
Did you get rid of this problem?
Possibly it’s how far your needles hang out, if they do not fully retract back inside the cartridge each time they will not pick up enough ink. Just a guess.
When you recommend 7rl needle which diameter do you mean?
7 is the amount of needles. R is the orientation of the need group, and L is for line work. The more needles, the larger the line

how often can i reuse a needle for practicing? and if i would clean them after each session, how should i do it?
I second this question
I think you're able to reuse them often if it's on fake skin, but you have to throw away the needles after a session on real skin
I've been practicing stick n pokes for about 3 weeks on fake skins. I've gone threw 3 7rl needles because I was able to tell they were getting over used and started to Flare out. 3-4 times is ideal before they begin to dent and affect your design! 😇

I do a lot of traditional so I use 11rl and 14rl
Get some 7s and try those out. The are a great midrange size for practicing on skins
Thank youuuuuuuuuuu ❤️
A couple problems I'm having is when I wipe the ink "away" it just smears up the whole canvas.
And a lot of ink comes out. Like spills out of my pen

Has anyone used TEMU skin
I always have cracks on the (fake)skin, where i draw the line. Is it because i press to deep or is it because od skin quality??

How many skins come in a pack?
How to clean. Mine is so dirty with paint. When i use toilet paper it's just getting bad

For practice? Reuse the needle for multiple sessions
the stencils have to dry in 3 hours??
