Nah likely just what u are used to. I prefere black and white. But id guess when i play for a year on a blue orange Board even on this crapy colours id likely have a preference if i use it for that long
Green and white is the best color combination for human eyes (according to some study). At least that’s why road signs in the USA are all green with white text.
Green has a better contrast compared to the "wooden" theme and looks cleaner. BTW, a lot of "roll up" chess boards come in green. It is not that unusual.
@@journeytograndmasterI've seen green boards in US, here... They are the roll up ones, as discussed... However, the green is a lot darker than the chescom theme
I think lichess has some problems with its app. Id recomend to use it in browser if possible. Cause some features are not possible in the app/ very confusing to find if possible
I think they are both overrated comparing to FIDE. Not that it's bad, current fide system is heavily criticized. But it's just different. I have 2413 FIDE, 2650-2750 in chess.com blitz and 2600-2700 on lichess blitz
I like to play casual/unrated games when tired after work... and Lichess sucks for that because they don't stop players having multiple accounts or maintaining a real rating. There's people on the site with 20,000 games and perma-beginner ratings. It's very rare to get a fair unrated game against a genuinely comparable opponent. That's a big drawback for the site.
I have no clue what you are talking about. I've had 2 accounts on both sites for years. Lichess does discourage this, but I don't use it to cheat so.. You have to choose custom games and the time control and set your rating min and max rating. I play 2000+rated players this way. But I just play regular rated games otherwise to play ppl around my level. I don't understand "fair unrated games"...casual games has the advantage that you can play much higher rated ppl. If you want a fair game, just play rated games. Or you can have an alt account on Zen mode and just play anyone without feeling like you're losing something...
@@journeytograndmaster Yeah, that's good for you; but maybe not so good for others if it means lower elo players get unknowingly used as cannon fodder for practice. I think that the basic facility for being able to play against opponents of one's own strength is pretty fundamental to a chess application. The vast saturation of smurf accounts on Lichess seriously degrades that facility. Most people could just play unrated on their main account and select a desired rating range when practicing. 🤷🏼♂️ Doesn't Lichess have an anonymous mode ... for those of a higher level wishing to obscure their preparation?
I'm an old park player so I use squares and pieces in 4 different colors. Also I only use the Dubrovnik set for two color bishops(Lichess) Thanks for the video, it's very useful.
Lichess for the speed chess is just too unrealistic. They sacrificed authenticity for smooth gameplay. I don't want to play. 1 minute bullet game and have the game last about 15 percent longer than it should. You heard it here, time your 1-0 game look at the clock at the end, and calculate. A 2 minute game total regardless of premoves ect should not last almost 2 and a half minutes.
Gotta disagree with you there! Green boards are actually super popular and used in a lot of tournaments because they're easier on the eyes, make the pieces pop more and just looks nicer overall. I even set my Lichess board to green! 🍀♟
Wow, really? Like real over the board tournaments with a green board? It would be a nightmare for me :) But of course, it's different for everyone, green is just not my colour.
Honestly, the only reason I didnt completely switch to Lichess yet, is because the UI isnt so pleasing to me.

I love the green board. It's the only color that doesn't confuse me.

I have kinda the same preference . Light green is a color that calms you so I guess it's related to that.

Settings on lichess, change the board theme to green.
Tyvm for going through the features in a clear and concise manner.
Lichess is much more impressive than I thought!🤯

change the board theme to green in settings on lichess
I honestly have never seen a green board in real life (playing all around Europe for 20 years). But people keep saying it's possible. Is it in USA?
@@journeytograndmasterI've seen green boards in US, here... They are the roll up ones, as discussed... However, the green is a lot darker than the chescom theme
Yeah it's a high-contrast look which looks very nice on modern OLED screens

why not play on both?

The standard board used in tournaments is green and white board, right? Only top level tournaments give wooden or DGT board
@@shrirangbondale2263 what? I am playing chess for 20 years and have never even seen a real board with green squares. Do they use it in USA?

In the puzzles dashboard category, on the left

I don't see that "FROM MY GAMES" option in lichess
Why not? Maybe you haven't enough games yet?
