I’m so glad to see a fellow ironstone collector who also shares my passion for them! I’ve collected antique ironstone for 25 years and I’m still in love with them to this day. I have my eyes on a cake stand and a foot bath nowadays. They’re the holy grail for all serious antique ironstone collectors, Rajiv! So keep your eyes open for them!
I love every single video you make. Whether I’m familiar or unfamiliar with the things/art you mention never seems to matter - I wind up feeling passionate about it by the end of your video.
Completely agree. Rajiv has given me so many ideas, so much hope, and encouragement in that wanting everything in your home to be special (to you) and beautiful is not ridiculous.
Being alive is the special occasion! Use your treasures every day 😊 Rajiv, your ironstone is beautiful. I am in love with the pitcher... Thank you for another grand video!
When Martha Stewart introduced antique ironstone in her show some 20 years ago, she literally brought up its prices because her followers rushed out to hunt them down!
This brought back memories of my grandmothers love of ironstone. She didn’t have much of it but they were her treasures. I have seen people take 40 volume hydrogen peroxide and submerge the ceramic in an enamel broiler and heat in the oven to remove stains more quickly than a cold soak. Bleach can leach in under the glaze and cause flaking to the surface and should be avoided. This was fun to watch-thanks Rajiv!
I know someone who buys hydrogen peroxide paste /cream (in Amazon) and applies it to ironstone and leaves it overnight to whiten it. (Also very good for whitening pieces of plastic that are yellowish because of time/sun damage)
The music is pleasing and the background colors looks so lovely with the calming white and pops of color from the orchids. Just all out gorgeous Rajiv.
I love your practical approach to collecting and the way it seamlessly intertwines with your love of the aesthetics. Also, the wagon imitation was hilarious 😂
When I saw the topic was ironstone, I stopped right in the middle of my Amazon order 😅 I adore ironstone, especially when it's hotelware or restaurantware. I'd like to get some more "white" pieces, but I LOVE the crazing and some discoloration lol. I love it when you can see the age and the use. I find these speak to me the most. My absolute favorite piece is a square bowl, fluted on the outside, with a slight pedestal. And I got it for $4 at a thrift store. I could write poetry for that bowl!! ❤️
Rajiv, the reverence you hold for your items is inspiring! I use fine China I found from a thrift store for my usual dish ware. I show it love by using these pieces that had definitely been donated unused. My friends are always so scared to use them when they come over, but the use it how it’s loved.
Rajiv, you’ve also highlighted the Ironstone with all of your beautiful variations of white (creams and ivories) in your walls, flower vase and curtains. So pleasing to the eye.
This reminds me of how paste stones were used in jewelry in the 17/1800s, the cuts and designs were just as beautiful as cut gemstones, yet made to be affordable and very durable. I didn’t know much about ironstone, it’s so beautiful - thanks for sharing!
I'm gaga over you. Love your channel. I first encountered you when you featured your hallway. I have always loved and collected and sold ironstone as a dealer. Its simple the color is soft and pleasing. All crazed, even chipped and discolored pieces can be decorative or repurposed. Platters are my favorite. Thank you.
I have three Ironstone plates that I absolutely love and use to eat on regularly. One has bad crazing, the other two are nearly perfect. I had no idea that they were Ironstone until I saw this video and noticed the marks underneath. I casually collect antique or handmade dishes, but from thrift stores usually. My plates were 99 cents for all three. Rajiv's collection is so beautiful.
I would LOVE to see you set a table with your china, silverware, glassware and one of your glorious flower arrangements! Maybe even show how you cook something you would serve…..please, please kind sir!
I love your appreciation for vintage and antique pieces. The White Ironstone China Association has compiled a wonderful reference The Illustrated Guide of White Ironstone China from A to Z. It’s so valuable for the collector especially if you’re interested in researching the history, shapes and different potters. Happy hunting!
I've been collecting ironstone since the 70's when I received a piece that belonged to my great grandmother from the 1880's. I have been in love ever since.
I am not sure if I am corect but I always thought the eradesant shine to older English Ironstone was that it was fired in coal ..Lets ask someone in the 5 towns of SToke on Trent :) I am sure they were fired in bungs (towers) of saggers .Saggers are protective containers that stack in the kilns or a kind of "KIln Furnature ... In the design work they started on paper but then the pot was sculpted and the mastery was in that work ..Then molds were made of the sculpted pot and the shape could be mass produced leaving a small team with mastery and a larger group with good skill finishing the making of the pots .. On the glazing and firing side the skill level still took a lifetime to keep the production ahead of the surprises altering materials and changing conditions always bring to a pottery kiln ... A visit to the SToke museum may be in order ...
Thanks, Master Wolff! I knew you'd have some idea of how these were fired. This is the color that I'd like to mimic in the bowls I'm making in Rhode Island.
Rajiv, you manage to make potentially boring subjects mesmerizing!! I learn a lot from you and it is such a treat in my day when I realize you have uploaded a new video.👍
Here I am suffering through a cold, wishing I could find a wonderful video to watch. Low and behold you answered my wish Rajiv ❤ You speak to my soul. I love how you enjoy life. Thank you 🤗 Happy Holidays!
Indeed.. it almost looks modern. I love it too. I’d not known anything about it before watching your video. I admire you for using all of it instead of just displaying it on a shelf. ❤
Definitely concur on the recommendation to collect with a friend if you happen to love the same thing... it deepens the everyday joy. And same for seeing things in a museum, which really ups the inspiration quotient. My best friend and I have been collecting Russell Wright Iroquois china for over 15 years, and I use it every day. Each time I reach for a plate or bowl, I am happier than the moment before. Thanks for sharing all your inspirations, Rajiv!
Beautiful collection, "some kind of vase" could be used to preserve cherries in vinegar, the hollow at the top prevents them from rising, you close it with a very thin white cotton and a cork cover
I love ironstone but I don't collect it, I love early American 1700's -1800's.However listening to and seeing these pieces I thought how beautiful it would be to set a dinner table amongst all the old wooden patina pieces I have curated. You have curated beautiful collection.
Rajiv, i can't decide on whether or not having beautiful things would be my style of life. Honestly, you knida make me think it is not, but I still love watching you and your beautiful things.
I can confirm Rajiv's thought process on how to spot genuine ironstone as I was just at the Round Top Antique Fair last month and that blue undertone is so obvious now! Thanks so much to Rajiv and his informational channel for helping me on this front. I'm happy to report I purchased my first pieces and we have a trip planned to the English countryside in the fall where i do plan to come back with more pieces even if i have to ship them back home because they are too bulky for my suitcases!
Whenever I see you have a new video. I get so happy. It’s like me saying educate me. I have learned so much from you and I have been antiquing all my life.
the pitcher is just the quintessential shape of a pitcher! i love it so much. a long time ago now, when i was living in and repairing the house i grew up in.. without hardly any money unfortunately, i was collecting small items just to get by for everyday use, a mug, a plate. didn't have much to spend was scrounging for every little thing, i found a small ironstone plate in a local antique store. there was something lovely about it, the color, the simplicity. it was stamped ironstone on the reverse and was just a couple of dollars, so i took it home. sadly don't have it any more though i wish i did, but this video reminded me of home for just a little while.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful collection! The quivering“You’re coming home with me!” is the best feeling while thrifting! I try to enjoy my treasured finds as often as possible. It makes a mundane day so much brighter!
Drop your playlist! I know you have some Sri Lanka gems and more! I’m definitely cooking the curry ! I know this isn’t the video but I’m watching on my tv and writing this on my phone 😂 love your content thank you for showing us your passion
Over the holidays, I bought a Victorian stone vase/jar in a UK small town called Winchester, and, immediately thought of Rajiv lol 😂 thought “he’d be so proud!”
Lovely collection. I’d really like to see you put the orchid arrangement together AND see how you water it without having to completely disassemble it.
Lovely! My favourite ceramics are Thomas white China. I inherited my parents wedding set and we use it every day. The simplicity of the design makes my heart sing, it has an impossibly pure form
I collect English ironstone too but with colors and patterns and much more detailed.I have several beautiful pitchers with basins,a few gravy boats, one with bottom dish,a creamer or two and most likely a few more pieces in my antique cabinets.
Love to watch you with treasures. Collecting antiques and vintage is my passion and I hope to rarely purchase new. Recycling is and great reason but the quality is everything. Love your channel.
Hi... I have very detailed iron stone collection and I tried to give it as a gift 🎁 to my supervisor years ago and she didn't accept it 😭 and I was disappointed because I think 🤔 she didn't know what it was so I ended up with it and it's in my dinning room hutch today... So I have my finished collection and... Nobody appreciates these things because it's so beautiful but... IDK 😐... I love it so I'm right along with you my twin 👍
I love ironstone. Actually, I am obsessed with dishes. I have six sets, all but one are incomplete so I have variety almost everyday. My husband and I prefer our white china best. It's like the little black dress of dishes. It never gets boring. You can easily give it a new look with different flatware (I also have multiple patterns) and/or different cloth napkins and placemats. I have a corner cabinet that is filled with white china accessories (not just ironstone, but Juliska signature pieces).
I just discovered your account after watching you in the hgtv UA-cam video. Your love for these treasures is so lovely to witness and I feel like k have the same excitement - the difference is that I don’t know anything about this stuff! Looking forward to learning from your channel :)

I'm convinced Rajiv is a cute woodland sprite taking occasional breaks from enchanting forests to school us on life's beauty.
😂❤😊 very well said
👏👏👏
Absolutely!

I love every single video you make.

Rajiv, your ironstone is beautiful. I am in love with the pitcher... Thank you for another grand video!
Yes, the pitcher is absolutely gorgeous.
I will remember this. "Being alive is the special occasion." Thank you.
1.gorgeous collection! 2. All your collector friends are suddenly annoyed that you unleashed a new crop of people looking for ironstone lol
Lol
When Martha Stewart introduced antique ironstone in her show some 20 years ago, she literally brought up its prices because her followers rushed out to hunt them down!
Yes!! Yes!! Yes!! Use your collections! Don’t just lock them up in a glass cabinet. Enjoy them and bring a little bit of beauty into everyday life
I almost cried hearing you describe the beauty of the pitcher.
Awe...you're speaking my language, Johnson Brothers, stoneware, transferware...TEA PARTY!!!! Love this!
Thanks Rajiv,I use all white china (not ironstone) and dress it up with my grandmother's hand painted pieces.
This brought back memories of my grandmothers love of ironstone. She didn’t have much of it but they were her treasures. I like the fact that you use the items that you collect. You have some really impressive pieces. Thanks for sharing!!!!!

„It would go gakakagakagakaka all over the country..“ Rajiv love this video ❤️😁
We all want to see a table set out with some of your Ironstone and one of your lovely flower arrangements.

I’m about to do the same, I have my eye on a Royal Doulton 45 piece bone china set for $120. I will use them as my daily set. 🇨🇦
Rajiv, you’ve also highlighted the Ironstone with all of your beautiful variations of white (creams and ivories) in your walls, flower vase and curtains. So pleasing to the eye.

Can we talk about how well the colour of the shirt goes with the gold bracelets?! I am mesmerized. 😍
I need to relax before bed. I don’t care too much about collecting, but I love watching Rajiv do anything.
I loved the way you imitated the rattling of the crockery in the wagons 😂❤

The color reminds me of vintage milk glass, which happens to be an obsession I caught from a friend who collects it.
Gah-gah-gah-gah-gh-gh-gh-gah and then arrive unbroken. Love love love this!!!
I am not an antique collector. However your video is very informative and interesting even for someone who is not a collector. 🤗
please consider more videos on antiques & collecting..

I like that you use your iron stone and not let it collect dust. Beautiful collection.
Love that piece behind you with flowers displayed in it poised on that pedestal, very cool looking
Thank you! There's a video on my channel on how I made that orchid arrangement!
Yes! I love Ironstone. Your pieces are beautiful. And the hunt is the best part. I'm still hunting. Thanks for the video,🙌🏽🫶🏾🥰

Its always so great and cheerful to see Rajiv's new video pop up, first thing in my UA-cam feed. Always.
I collect pottery and I love eating off of it everyday. It makes the food taste better, and I love looking at it.
I wish I could feel this way about one thing in my life, the way he feels about all his possessions. It’s inspiring.

I l(extra) love it when you talk about the things you learned at Pioneer Village
My sister and I recently found a tall ironstone pitcher in llano Texas. We were thrilled and had to drop you a note. 13:29
Now I wanna hear the story about the silver and see it, too! Beautiful collection.
Lovely collection. I’d really like to see you put the orchid arrangement together AND see how you water it without having to completely disassemble it.
Last week's video on my channel shows how I put that arrangement together ;-)
Rajiv, you are officially the perfect man🏆

I collect ironstone. I love it, also. I have a pitcher with the ‘crazing’, that I adore…its my oldest piece.
I love the white ironstone but I also like the brownish ones that can be used at Thanksgiving with my autumnal tones.
It's so nice to watch and so good to use your items ❤❤thank you for sharing 🎉🎉
Lovely collection! I would like to say that your closeups are not close enough to see the details you discuss like crazing and back stamps. Thank you.😊
Thank you for the video. I will start looking for Ironstone to collect.
Rajiv, you are a beautiful soul. Thank you for your thoughtful content.
Thank you for watching!
Rajiv, thank you for all the tips about Ironestone! I was inspired by you and purchased my first pieces this past weekend!

The silver shovel in your sugar pot is a spoon for ice cream. The edge can be”cut” a very cold ice cream. My silver cutlery has similar ones.
Hi Rajiv
Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge with us. I enjoy ALL of your videos. Very Grateful❤😊😊
🌹🌹 Thank you Rajiv🌹🌹
Beautiful pieces, nice collection.
I wait for your videos every Saturday. Just amazing content ❤
