I was on Distortion stream for a while when he was practicing this. So many hours of hard work and frustration. Nothing but respect to the speedrunning community. and Distortion is of the best of them.

Asmon's face at the end, at the dragon wing jump thingy to the finsh line, went from confused to shocked to surprised to shocked again to completely awestruck to completely awestruck with max open eyes to acceptance. What an incredible feat.. unbelievable yet existing!
19:00 Another pretty common one is devs don't normalize their velocity vector, so moving diagonally gives you say 2m/s forward plus 2m/s right which means you are moving at about 2.9 m/s (sqrt of A squared + B squared)

I think Distortion might be one of the best speedrunners out there. Something so fun watching these guys speedrun live. Couldn't stop watching his streams until he hit this new record. Sad he's done with the game now, but he deserves a much needed rest. He got what he came for. GG

I looked at the rules and what's allowed and what isn't seems completely arbitrary to me. Why are some glitches okay but others aren't?

This is some of the most mind blowing speed running I’ve ever seen. Having played and eventually beaten Only Up after 3 days of intense play, this is insane skills.

Sometimes i think content like this is so easy and asmon is profiting from others. But id never have known about this speedrunner or even the game without him.
You forget the fact that videos like this give massive exposure and publicity to the people. It’s not just pure profit for one reacting
You MUST credit the creators, and encourage your audience to check them out. Anything else is pure profiting.
Imagine how many times they fell to achieve this. At higher levels a mistake is more painful

200 hours of practice and honing in 2 weeks. The man is a machine.
Pretty sure he was like 8 hrs in on just that day alone. I don’t know how they can do run after run all day long and sometimes missing boat or dragon skip. ZexRow was live for more than 24 hrs one day. Absolutely crazy.
They have mods which allow them to restart at certain points so as far as practice goes they don’t have to restart
Every CoD jumper from 1.7 vanilla to MW4 is looking at this and licking their lips.
Distortion is one of the goats when it comes to variety speedrunning at a high level
Man the minute I saw Asmon reacting to the first speedrun I went over to my boy Dist and checked if he was speedrunning this game. He was not... yet. And now we're here.
engine related bugs are indeed a thing. dark souls and bloodborne share one common bug due to using the same engine. basically if you kill someone/something with an important drop, e.g a npc (most commonly used for siegward in ds3), they will drop an item which will remain dropped even if you quit the game and reload. well the engine allows you to duplicate that item if you unload and reload that area. back to siegward. he drops a titanite slab, the big old +10 stone, which is why he's one of the most common victims for this bug. basically you kill him in his cell in the profaned capital, and then run back to a specific spot in irithyll where you run back and forth to unload and reload profaned capital, duplicating the items. this works in bloodborne as well, often used on alfred or the rifle spear hunter by vicar amelia for infinite fire or bolt paper depending on who you're killing.
I feel like speedrunning should be a special olympics event
They already have the Paralympics for handicapped and mentally impaired people so no.

Not familiar with this game.. seen people / clips of it if course.. but i've only watched halo speedruns & dark souls speedruns since thats what i mostly played. Maybe some parts of some other games but this is just simply amazing. I love speedrun videos. That skip he just did with the dragon i feel like made him skip so much. The way these people figured this out especially in this game is astonishing. Simply amazing. Thanks 4 making this video. Was good to see.

Let me just brag that I just finished Only up! in 91 minutes and only broke 1 keyboard during the process. I did cry a few times though.

Pretty sure the boat glitch works by the game not realizing the character model is stuck yet the player tricks the game by still moving as if they were able to freely walk and they eventually glitch onto the pad once they've triggered the climb mechanic.

The record before this was so clean with all the tricks at the start of the run I'm kinda sad that this run where he had a bunch of things not go his way is the one that went sub 17 and he doesn't wanna run the game anymore.

Does this game have some sort of Save State where you can practice stages over and over again or do you have to climb all the way back up every time you fall? and this includes mods not just the base game.... I feel like with some practice I could do a lot of these moves, but not if I had to have the patience to run all the way up every time I fell
