I see a ton of super meat boy like the timed blocks and the zig zag climbing/descending with synchronized projectiles a couple of them were straight up the same level design. E: Moon seems to have lots of VVVVVV inspiration

True,its always fun to see new ways you'd beat a level,when i ran one RTS game i was happy i could shorten mission time from 40'ish minutes+complicated strats usually down to 3 minutes using strategy i made(few units distract the AI and objective unit i was spawned with went straight to accomplish mission target,50% chance to succeed is worth it) and splodey looks fun,combines some mechanics from old VVVV game and super meat boy to make something good in its own way Anyways,hope to see more good reactions to exciting speedruns in the future,thanks Asmon for the vid

Splodey is one of those games... I've already spent almost 50 hours playing it, and I still can't get enough. The gameplay is so unique. I hate to sound like an ad, but it has consumed so many hours of my life this week that It's safe to say that Im enjoying it
This game is genius to me as someone who has experience making games. The physics is basically the default you begin with when you make this kind of game, but instead of patching it down and constraining it, they made it the entire point. What a great idea.
It's more amazing that this guy makes a mistake every couple levels, even dying sometimes. This record could be so much faster, can't wait to see it perfected.

As a gamer who played Quake 1-3 with rocket jump custom maps this seems quite normal to me. He never figured out the explosion could make him jump ? Its obvious this guy has practiced but a lot of these levels seems straight forward so that rocket jumping is the intended way to play the game. Didn't see asmons playthroughs btw.
I don't know what impresses me more being able to do these levels that fast, or being able to memorize the levels in order to know what levels you do what.

When the player shoots completely vertically, the bombs all hit the ground at the same time, which implies there is an in game mechanic that corrects their fall speed to make them explode simultaneously. That is good game design.

obviously a lot of time and effort goes into figuring out the routing and building the muscle memory for these kind of speedruns. but the important thing i think most gamers can learn from speedrunners is: a lot of things actually become very simple if you just go fast.
A mentally healthy human being unfettered by ego would be relieved and amused seeing someone effortlessly and creatively solve a problem on which they struggled You can see how happy he is watching the levels he never played in contrast to the first two-thirds of the video
A lot of Skill that resemble Super Metroid movement, this seems like a interesting game. Hell, not even metroid has super metroid movement anymore, very good to see a game pushing the legacy forward.
I missed this run, but I watched Athena trash records for days. She did an awesome job. Seemed like an overall good person and deserves the cash. She worked so hard on running this.
I was there boys... saw this game kill confidence little by little, until he finally realized that he was not good enough. What painful stream it was, and I loved every second.
And it looks like this isn't even the min/maxed version. more will follow. Speedrunners are just built different. There's no reason to feel pathetic or even compare yourself to them. You also wouldn't feel bad whenever you'd get knocked out by Klitschko. It is what it is.
My favourite part of speedrunners dying in their runs: It proves they're human and make mistakes, that they're not using TAS and most importantly... as insane as their run it, it could still be FASTER o.O
Correct if I’m wrong, but is the white arrow controlled by your mouse? If that’s so, wouldn’t it mean that each run would be slightly different than the other because you need perfect accuracy? That means you must be highly consistent with your aim. Crazy.
