You're half right. Where you are wrong is that it's not just "regular glass" . It's tempered glass and it's absolutely meant to break into small blunt pieces (instead of large sharp pieces) while being simultaneously stronger than "regular" glass. The lamination process you speak of is a real thing, but costs significantly more than other windows in a car. This is why it's done in more critical places like the windshield. The windows in the back of a car can vary, but they are always made with tempered glass. Most of time they aren't laminated the same as the windshield. The lamination process is used to make the windshield much stronger than just tempered glass alone. This is done to prevent oncoming objects from penetrating the cabin, like a rock on the highway or something.

As a native of San Francisco (I now live in a suburb not far from it) what ticks me off is the police have been refusing to deal with problems like this for decades because it's an organized operation with lots of players and taking it down means doing work. Instead when I worked in the courts I'd see whole task forces dedicated to having a couple guys who can 'look the part' walk up to idiots and pretend to offer drugs or ask to buy small amounts of street level drugs - take down the seriously stupid ultra low level offenders, and ignore complex more serious problems. And of course they focus those task forces in areas with high likelihood of black or brown offenders because juries won't ask questions and just return guilty when the defendant 'fits the profile'. Meanwhile real issues like the thefts in these videos just go unchecked. In the video - the part where he shows where two cars were parked. One of those neighborhoods was an historically poor area where the projects used to be. But the other by the water is a wealthy area. The police ignore the issue in both. Note how he also comments on the jacket. People who look into these things do notice that most 'real crime' in any given city is committed by a very small number of highly active actors. With some manpower - the cops could end all of this. The number of people involved is probably very small.
You think any police want to do work when activist judges are going to get them back on the street as soon as possible? All while having their funding reduced and having to walk on eggshells lest they take action against the wrong person and have their livelihood stripped from them forever despite it never being an issue before?
this sounds absolutely insane to me. in brasil, a public servant (like a cop or delegate) denying duty is a crime (prevaricação, but it seems prevarication is a false cognate, they aren't the same thing). excepting discretionary acts, when a public servant has the ability to act, they have also the obligation. obviously, it sadly doesn't work perfectly on practice. but at least it's a law violation
The insistence on this being the last glitter bomb is probably to get them to fall for the next one since they seemed very cautious about what packages they stole this time.
I'm sad that's his last Glitter Bomb video, but I have enjoyed the 5 year journey. Also I'm ecstatic to hear those 3 scam call centers were shut down and the higher ups were arrested. Just shows what we're capable of if we all work together.
Asmon's initial response of 'lol put C4 in it' was the first thing I thought about this.. Of course they're already skirting the law since booby traps aren't legal and actually hurting someone is against the law, even if they stole from you. Although I think that if the state sanctioned a few package thief napalm bombs there's a case that the criminal sentenced their own self when they stole the package and the consequences were completely the results of their own risk.
@@voltage6507 Gunpowder and black powder can be shipped FYI. A thief that steals such a package that "mysteriously" catches fire cannot claim its a trap, as its marked as hazardous. A lot of thieves won't take the time to check.

19:00 Maybe value is the reason they're not stealing it. If the value is over a certain number, the penalty if you get caught might go from misdemeanor to felony, so they avoid it.
so for anyone curious, in the us its illegal to make a trap that can cause harm to people for the sake of catching someone doing something illegal. its the cops job even when they wont do it and taking their job gets you in trouble. fun fact, some people actually do leave dangerous boxes as if its a delivery for the sake of hurting others. i remember a story from 100 ways to die about a thief dying from anthrax or something like it due to stealing a trapped package from a judge. if this is in cali then its less the cops wont do anything and significantly more that they cant do anything.

The thing about America though, is that each state is basically it's own "mini" country. Over here where I live, you get shot and killed for doing that shit, and it's legal to do so. In other parts of the country it is nearly a small utopia where the biggest problems that occur are due to nature. Then you have places like Miami or other murder capitols and it's a crazy twilight zone. what i dont get the most is... why are packages left on porches in the first place? Here in france packages that cant fit in a mailbox (and all mailboxes have locks) are instead kept at the post office t be collected, and a paper slip to come collect it left in the box instead. Also when you collect they ask for proof of identity so stealing the slip is worthless. I dont know why the same isnt done here, with packages either left in a locked box, or safely kept in the post office until they are collected.
I know right, here in the uk, they will hide it in the side passage or behind a bush for you, or else they get fired, they send a pic to tell you where it is l
You can ask postal services to do that in the US, and for expensive enough items you have to sign so this will happen. But it's not all packages because it's more convenient to just have it there in areas with less theft
