@@skummelkatt - Maybe not for you but for me it was (& evidently for Bill, too). So just be thankful for your own talent & discipline to be able to master this song! :-)
Very awesome cover. George Harrison & Ravi Shankar would've been insanely proud. And what's better, there's no post production fluffing, no auto-tune, just real musician ship, raw and un-compromised. Thanks to all of you & excellent job.
Dude why aren't you all famous!!! The girl playing the sitar is so good and she's pretty too. Your guitar skills are good too. Keep up the good work man , I really hope you'll get the recognition you'll deserve.
@Aaron Roberts They are certainly above average. And being "world-class" isn't necessarily something brought about by pure talent alone. In every city in the world there is a guitarist better than Hendrix, a pianist better than Lang Lang and a violinist better than Paganini, but they will never reach the immense fame they deserve. It's just a sad reality of the current music industry. In the end, all that matters is that you enjoy playing. If anything good happens because of it, consider it a nice bonus :)
I once had a girl Or should I say she once had me She showed me her room Isn't it good Norwegian wood? She asked me to stay And she told me to sit anywhere So I looked around And I noticed there wasn't a chair I sat on a rug biding my time Drinking her wine We talked until two and then she said "It's time for bed" She told me she worked In the morning and started to laugh I told her I didn't And crawled off to sleep in the bath And when I awoke I was alone This bird had flown So I lit a fire Isn't it good Norwegian wood?
The Beatles version is awesome! And then I hear a 12 string guitar instrumental version, then a banjo version, and now sitar - and all really good covers!
I respect your opinion, but this song has been in thousands of people's playlists for over 40 years. Way before Murakami used it as title of one of his books.
Backstory - A young lady brought John Lennon to her flat after a party, leading him to believe that romance would follow. It didn't. She told him she had to go to work in the morning and went to bed by herself. When he woke up she was gone and the flat was freezing cold, so he broke up a cheap imported Norwegian chair, tossed it into the fire and warmed up before taking off.
Wow !!! So Brilliant !!! The Acoustic guitarist, Sitar player & even the vocalist were all so good. The Beatles would have/would love this cover. Well done !!! Please do the Inner Light too.
The reference to Norwegian wood is the pine cladding in the girls house. The final reference to lighting a fire is said to be the man torching the house because the girl teased him but didn’t sleep with him. 😮
Very nice cover. The sitar is a very interesting instrument. This song was the first to feature it to a wide audience in the west. Thanks for playing it for us.
