This is exactly the reason why Nolan was firm on ending his Dark Knight trilogy. He described the MCU as an "infinitely expanding balloon," in which there is no end. Even when you think a character is dead or an actor has left the project, they will find a way to keep them coming back forever.

Kevin had two “Break in case of Emergency” buttons in his office: One for RDJ, one for Doom. And for some godforsaken reason, he decided to smash both at once
Good call. But Doom only works for that purpose if it's the honest-to-goodness classic Doom. RDJ or no RDJ, they have to know the focus the fandom will have on this.
Bringing back RDJ as a alt-verse Iron Man after all this time trying to reboot the Avengers with new faces would be admitting Disney's M-She-U was the entirely wrong direction. Which Feige/Iger would never do. Amusingly, any plans to bring in Rescue post-Extremis Pepper was shot down by Paltrow herself because she basically refused to headline a movie without RDJ.
I expected them to royally fuck up Doom cause no way they would have the maturity to do him right. I didn't expected them to be so desperate that they epically fuck up both Doom and Iron Man in the same move.
People say they want RDJ back as Iron Man, but I choose to interpret that as what people want back is good and enjoyable Marvel movies. The thing is RDJ as Iron Man is 'the face' of the good and enjoyable Marvel movies era, and people can't separate the two.

Cheap Nostalgia bait. RDJ is Iron Man. Seeing him become a completely different person in the MCU which he only left 5 years ago is gonna be very strange.
“We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again,” Feige said at the time about Iron Man’s death. “We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”
I mean, Iron Man is still dead, I don't see how this changes that. The comics have pointed out how Victor Doom and Tony Stark are mirror images of each other, after all.
@@NotAGoodUsername360 Because a huge part of "Iron Man" in the MCU, is RDJ's performance. Bringing him back cheapens that scene because another part of the impact of the scene was knowing RDJ would be gone from the MCU.
I mean technically, it's a whole another character. As much as I'm also mixed on this casting, it shouldn't be a problem unless they make him a Stark Variant or something, if that happens then it's an issue.
I feel for the genuine comic fans who’ve waited decades for a proper, true to life live action portrayal of Doom, and instead of Doom being Doom, he’s an “evil Tony Stark variant” instead. Talk about a kick to the nuts
this could very well be a Variant Tony Stark as Doom, OR a version of Dr Doom who BEAT Tony Stark on his planet - stole all his tech AND his body, because Doom does that. Nobody knows but everyone has a Chicken Little mentality.

Given its Stephen McFeely writing, no worries, he wrote Captain America The First Avenger, Winter Soldier, and Civil War, he wrote Avengers Infinity War, and Endgame, as well as the first two Chronicles of Narnia films, I doubt he will just be Tony Stark, given the breadth of villains the writer does.
Exactly my thoughts. Are you telling all of us fans that the A-list actors that actually have the menacing face and aura of Doom weren’t available for this?
Mads was the baddie in Dr Strange, so that would be reusing a char as well. But I agree theres many options out there and this is pathetic bait by disney.

Nothing says "unimaginable possibilities" quite like "introducing" a character who was already played in multiple different films throughout the years, played by an actor who previously played a different character within the same franchise.

It’s getting downright goofy that Disney still thinks the reason why people aren’t watching Star Wars or Marvel anymore is anything other than the poor writing. It’s hilarious to me that the nostalgia bait tactic hasn’t worked for them with Star Wars for years now and they think it will somehow work with Marvel? They could probably make a huge amount of profit with these IP’s by just cutting down the budget per IP a bunch, hire writers who’ve had more experience than co-writing 2 Rick and Morty episodes (or whatever it was anyway) and give the teams more time to work on these projects. Hell, they might not even have to cut down on the amount of stuff they release by that much since they could probably have more productions running at the same time from the money they cut from the budget from half of these projects. This would automatically create extra time to work on the shows since shows would still be releasing regularly. You can’t convince me that The Rise of Skywalker needed to cost 416 mil when the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy costed 514 mil adjusted for inflation. This while it made 3 times as much at the box office and resulted in more than 4 times the amount of content in minutes more than TROS. This is not even taking physical sales into account and we all know the trilogy would’ve sold a hell of a lot more of these than TROS. It’s not rocket science Disney…
I wish actors would have the same take on a franchise as Henry Cavill has. He said if he played one role in Warhammer 40k he can't play another in the same "universe" ... To see RDJ as Doctor Doom really makes me want to smash my keyboard over my head.
I agree but this is poorly applied here imo. I'm almost sure he's gonna be playing a Tony Stark variant that is Dr. Doom. So technically he'll be playing the same character which doesn't contradict what Cavill meant.
I can see how this happened. Marvel needed a new headline villain. RDJ had previously complained that playing Tony Stark for so long made him almost forget how to act, so he wanted to do things as different from that role as possible. It's 'somehow Palpatine returned' mixed with 'Randy Savage wants to be a heel'.

But so is other actor, and he already known for Iron Man. (Yes, I know Chris Evan as human torch and cap). It is what it is I guess.
Bro, the way he said "the one person who can play Victor Von Doom" it was like they didn't have any other choice or didn't do a casting for the character 😅😅😅
Talking like there are no other actors in Hollywood. Cillian Murphy just won a damn Oscar and would be great as Doom. So would Fassbender. Hell Julian McMahon could've been recast, he played Doom in the Fox movies. He's 56 atm which is 3 yrs younger than RDJ. Mads would've been a great choice too.
Thing is the concept can be done well but it fundamentally relies on the idea that other universes or alternate characters are different people and just as valuable as the originals. Far too many writers treat as a cheap way to ax favorites without consequences or to raise stakes by sacrificing entire universes because a main hero is trying to save one person from their universe, then acting like it's no big deal, ultimately making everything meaningless. Raise the stakes by making other universe matter.
And in the promotional poster, it’ll be a floating head poster where doctor doom is just rdjs face, cuz we gotta have the actors face there to sell tickets and not the fucking character he’s playing
They should’ve had Karl Urban, dude would’ve left the mask on, insulted everyone, and demanded his name be left off credits so no one knew who Doom was. In fact, reroll that bad Halo series and have him as Master Chief as well. He killed it as Dredd
What's funny is that he did the "ironman pose" when he should have done the Dr Doom pose. All we're gonna get is pretty much the same as Tony Stark but under the disguise of Doom.
Seeing that stage entry... Yeah, that's not Doom. Doom would be arrogant, and not demand attention... He KNOWS he will get it regardless. The RDJ spice may have worked with Sherlock since, like Tony Stark, both are very arrogant, clever, but ultimately good aligned people. That doesn't fit Doom
I was discussing this with a coworker today as we're both big nerds and comic fans. RDJ was a great piece of casting for Iron Man. He literally embodied rebirth with that role and was an excellent portrayal of that character. I don't really see having him come back into the same universe as a different character working well. It's going to be very hard to separate him and Tony Stark. So to me this smells a lot like desperation on the part of a studio with a failing franchise and the best idea they could come up with was, "Throw Iron Man back in."
@whichDude think this will be the same. Mostly likely their going to use parallel earth doom to "clean house" with most of the new avengers. Then secret wars is going to lead to a light reboot.
Considering they're talking about going the secret wars route, technically, Doom does win. Steals Galactus' powers, manages to overpower the beyonder with that. He literally kills a bunch of them when they refuse to bow down and follow him with 1 single attack. He only really loses to the beyonder inhabiting Claw.
Ngl, for the first time the MCU subreddit didn't disappoint me. Most of them seem to recognise this is just a desperate move. I hope they react accordingly when the movies come out.
And it’s confusing AF. At least Guardians 3 makes no mention of the multiverse because they only focus on the Guardians own world but still acknowledge the last 2 Avengers movies that they were in
I loved how he panicked at the beginning of the word and came up with multi-universe. You can almost hear an inner voice whispering: don't say multiverse, don't say multiverse, remember what the marketing consultants said about it. Just say anything else.
I don't know what you expect here If it's not for all those unlucky and unfair nonsense that happened for Jonathan majors , mcu would've continued with kang storyline but all messed up And dr doom is supposed to be there eventually in the secret wars and even if it's desperate rdj has a solid resume as being a great antagonist ( not only Oppenheimer) and dr doom is one of the greatest characters in fiction and marvel in both comics and movies they only make stories that are canonical and too orthodox way ( same stories inside nut shell ) since marvel is the very first to bring multiverse concept and stories And this is multiverse There is no problem in recasting characters becz of this synonym And in movies marvel is already running out of ideas and they have clearly said they will be taking their time and won't be taking any grandular risks so yeah Why not give it a shot Marvel still has fantastic four which is full of talented casting So as thunderbolts( except Yelena belova )
so obvios none of you who watch this blumbering oaf of a youtuber even read the comics. otherwise youd already know how, early into his life, and prior to becoming Dr Doom, Victor von doom's face gets permantly scarred and disfigured, so he never takes off his mask anyway. seriously read the source material if you ever want to critique something.

This is exactly the reason why Nolan was firm on ending his Dark Knight trilogy. He described the MCU as an "infinitely expanding balloon," in which there is no end. Even when you think a character is dead or an actor has left the project, they will find a way to keep them coming back forever.
This is why you never give one man all the power. Kevin Feige has driven this property into the earth’s mantle. With no one to answer to or stand up against him, he’s become egomaniacal, and has no problem chasing away others who ask questions, make demands, or disagree with his flawed vision. He only has his Smithers clones in the Russos, Ryan Reynolds (whom he has spoiled with total power over Deadpool by making him a micro-Feige), and RDJ, whom he is probably overpaying and whom he probably had to get on his knees and beg. Feige has overstayed his welcome, and he needs to be shown the door. Run this thing by committee with legitimate writers and directors.
Dude it CAN WORK. they just suck. Kevin legit is just throwing shit at the wall. The Fans collectively had better Theories than all of marvel studios combined. That's not the Fault of the MCU, the MCU is art. The fault is in the painter for ruining his own Art.

It's going to be very hard to separate him and Tony Stark. So to me this smells a lot like desperation on the part of a studio with a failing franchise and the best idea they could come up with was, "Throw Iron Man back in."

@@whichDude#thanosdidnothingwrong
"Win aggressively" 😂
@whichDude think this will be the same. Mostly likely their going to use parallel earth doom to "clean house" with most of the new avengers. Then secret wars is going to lead to a light reboot.
Considering they're talking about going the secret wars route, technically, Doom does win. Steals Galactus' powers, manages to overpower the beyonder with that. He literally kills a bunch of them when they refuse to bow down and follow him with 1 single attack. He only really loses to the beyonder inhabiting Claw.
RDJ to Feige: "You could not live with your own failure. Where did that bring you? Back to me..."
You win the internets today 👏👏👏👏👏
He burned through the Dr. Doolittle money pretty quick.
Finally a good reference in here 😂
Or is that Feige to RDJ?
The happy clapping seal killed me
Ngl, for the first time the MCU subreddit didn't disappoint me. Most of them seem to recognise this is just a desperate move. I hope they react accordingly when the movies come out.
That MCU subreddit is full of soibois
I was permanently banned from r/marvel for saying I didn't like America Chavez lol
They didnt clap because of the casting, they just clapped at the sight or RDJ
Yeah , like a bunch of seals
@@rzn2258pretty disturbing. But I was disturbed when I saw the announcement and I thought we were still in April but this is the timeline we live in
Dr Strange throwing up when multiverse is mentioned sums it up for me, as I could care less about Marvel phases anymore.
And it’s confusing AF. At least Guardians 3 makes no mention of the multiverse because they only focus on the Guardians own world but still acknowledge the last 2 Avengers movies that they were in
Could not care less. You have suggested you have some care to give still rather than being all out of cares to give.
@@anthonylulham3473he cares at least a little bit i guess
yeah, that multi-universe line just shows that they have no idea what they are doing.
"Disney's gonna have him doing this til he's 90"

"As proof of the unimaginable possibilities in the marvel multi-universe..." *brings out the same actor from something else*
I loved how he panicked at the beginning of the word and came up with multi-universe. You can almost hear an inner voice whispering: don't say multiverse, don't say multiverse, remember what the marketing consultants said about it. Just say anything else.
this. THIS
Oh wow.
This has some strange "somehow Palpetin came back" vibes.
The desperation due to lack of creativity is astounding.
I don't know what you expect here
If it's not for all those unlucky and unfair nonsense that happened for Jonathan majors , mcu would've continued with kang storyline but all messed up
And dr doom is supposed to be there eventually in the secret wars and even if it's desperate rdj has a solid resume as being a great antagonist ( not only Oppenheimer) and dr doom is one of the greatest characters in fiction and marvel in both comics and movies they only make stories that are canonical and too orthodox way ( same stories inside nut shell ) since marvel is the very first to bring multiverse concept and stories
And this is multiverse
There is no problem in recasting characters becz of this synonym
And in movies marvel is already running out of ideas and they have clearly said they will be taking their time and won't be taking any grandular risks so yeah
Why not give it a shot
Marvel still has fantastic four which is full of talented casting
So as thunderbolts( except Yelena belova )
And dude if Russo brothers are gonna do this again then defensively would have a plan
@@Prominent_intellect There are literally dozens of other A class actors out there. But it had to be Iron Man XD
How the hell do you sell THE face of iron as doctor doom? That's like having Mark Hamill play Luke Skywalker AND Darth Vader.
Disney probably will announce that some time in the future
@@sudimara7731 guaranteed
Well, it kinda worked in the cave.😅
Isn't Luke vader's son ? it would work and not be weird, what a horrible comparison 😂
so obvios none of you who watch this blumbering oaf of a youtuber even read the comics.
otherwise youd already know how, early into his life, and prior to becoming Dr Doom, Victor von doom's face gets permantly scarred and disfigured, so he never takes off his mask anyway.
seriously read the source material if you ever want to critique something.

When the crowd went nuts, all I could hear was the screaming goats from Thor love and thunder. Facepalm emote...
I remember him during the Oppenheimer press tour saying how he wanted to make more movies like that. I guess now that he got the Oscar he doesn't mind lazy easy paydays again.

imo if they wanted to give RDJ a villain role, they should have made a Superior Ironman movie

The seal clapping clip was very Apt, this is pure Disney Desperation.
That clip was so cringe. There's nothing more embarrassing than a group of 20-something year old men absolutely losing their shit, screaming like a bunch of twats, because of a character announcement.
Its called beeing a happy Fan. Something you grifters wouldent get.
