    If there are oil stains or heavy grease on the concrete driveway, service station, dumpster pad, then you need to use straight sodium hydroxide - 2.5 cups + 1/4 cup Blue Dawn added to 5 gallons of water - stir - apply - use your surface cleaner.

    Hey Mike, I am a 16 year old that started a pressure washing business and I have a pressure washer that is just short of 3GPM. This is obviously not enough water flow for a really efficient surface cleaner. My question to you is do you think I should go all out and get a 6GPM and buffer tank for surface cleaning or when would you in my position of just starting a business end up making that big upgrade? I am a serious business man and regardless of my age would like to take business a step further, thank you so much for helping grow the business development of many people getting out of the trap of employment.

      Bleach is cheap so there is no harm in going hotter than Mike describes as long as you watch out for edge burn. I like to hotter than a house-wash mix as he describes and sometimes you don't need the surface cleaner, just the ball valve and a rinse and that is not as likely with a "house-wash" mix but more likely with a "roof mix". As Mike said, not all jobs are the same.

  • @Unmployable
    @Unmployable Рік тому +9

    Pre treating concrete for algae has usually for the most part been a waste of product and time. Haven’t seen a situation where it speeds up the job or left a better result. However, when it comes to post treating it seems to always be a good idea. Because it removes swirl marks and lines and prevents algae growing back in in weird patterns. Because it will always grow back where the least amount was removed which is where the lines and swirl marks are. So always post treat. Oil, rust and stains or course are a completely different story and require completely different chemicals and do require a nice dwell time then pressure wash.

    • @AllAboutPressureWashing
      @AllAboutPressureWashing  Рік тому +3

      Of course pre-treatment is effective.

    • @Unmployable
      @Unmployable Рік тому +2

      @@AllAboutPressureWashing your surface cleaner can only go a certain speed regardless of pretreating and will remove most of the organics then go in with the post treat and it’s perfect. No situation I can think of to pre-treat. Even in the most severe cases of algae build up the bleach will only affect the surface level of the algae and doesn’t do a good job penetrating into the concrete. While it will kill some algae of course I’m not debating that, it just doesn’t make that much of a difference to warrant the extra chemical cost and the extra time spent doing it. Post treat is the most effective method. Saves time and chemical and leaves the ideal result every time.
