That's up next ... I wanted to ride the ol' girl around Australia in original form first. And we have now done exactly that - she has proven herself as the ultimate ADV legend, and so now I will treat her to a top-end rebuild, which she probably doesn't need but to this day I will never know how many km's she's actually done. The previous owner said they had to fix speedo drive when they purchased her from previous owner. She had 54'000km on the clock when I bought her but who knows, that should probably be more like 154'000km ... ? It doesn't matter, everyone will soon get to see inside the beating heart of the Warhorse!
@@MotologyFilms I’m on a cross country trip in the US and you inspired me to go more off-road. Thanks for that! But you are sick man… I hope I get as good as you are

I agree with you. 250€ per fairing at Honda for 2007 honda varadero 125 and no availability on second hand market where I live. This is pain. You fall you lose.
Well, that escalated quickly ... so cool to read everyone's excitement for the return of the Warhorse. I got about 20 comment replies in and figured I'd just thank all of you with a few words here. I'm so grateful for the like-minded, passionate global community of riders we're forming here on my channel. And while I do have great relationships with KTM, Yamaha, BMW and so on, it's nice to be completely detached from any kind of manufacturer expectation when creating content with my very own motorcycle. I can tell everyone is on the same wavelength with this film, because there's very little in question, just genuine appreciation for what the Warhorse is. Thankyou all ... I look forward to crossing paths with you on the trail, or bumping into you at the bar. Adam.
Great video! recently got myself a 99 Honda Transalp (my dream bike) to adjust for some long distance adventure. I have a question about mods though, when setting up a bike for offroad, do you get wide fotpegs and a longer gear sticks to fit enduro boots to shift and break, or are you suppose to be able to ride the beauty on stock gear? Welcome back to Sweden anytime :D
@@philsc6028 good question mate, I have to find same thing for the Warhorse - she has such a solid but quick-shifting gear box that she changes gear when I'm just thinking about sticking my boot down there. I need to find A: longer gear lever, B: wider, bigger footpegs 👌
Ah, the old good Africa Twin XRV-750. The world never thank enough to the designers who created it, to the engineers who build it and to the pilots who flew it over the sand dunes of Africa straight into our hearts.
"The only thing better than buying a new motorcycle isnfinding an old one and fixing it up." Honestly... as the newer bikes are so laden with dealer fix only stuff... i think this is more true than ever before.
Right from the start I was thinking, "I hope he keeps that stitched up screen" and I can't tell you how fkn happy I was to see you put it back on. Legend! I am ridiculously excited to see every episode of where you go with this. Hurry up fkn!
It's actually strong AF with my zip-tie fix... like it would prob crack somewhere else if she takes another hit. But let's hope not - one battlescar is enough and she handles so much better off-road now with firmer springs and proper off-road ADV tyres!
One very important tip for these engines: Geat a Superpinion front sprocket! These engines have a tendency to strip output shafts like crazy, which results in a very expensive and painful engine overhaul. With time the sprockets become loose and start stripping the splines on the output shaft. especially if the skinny mounting bracket breaks. Your shaft looks in perfect shape so that's not likely to happen soon, but eventually will. I stripped one on my 2001 Transalp 650 this year ( it shares the exact same output shaft and engine, just underbored) which has 95K km on the clock. After reading about the problem, I found out it was more common than you would think. The Superpinion sprockets are a good way of minimising the possibillity of this issue, not only because of the tight tolerances, but also because the mounting brackets are super thick! Look them up, they are not that expensive, and just keep it in mind for the next chain and sprockets set. Cheers!
At 6'28" you'll see Adam apply copper grease to the splines. This is all it takes to save them from wear. A really enjoyable video - I had a RD03 AT 20 years ago and sort of wish I still had it although it was horribly underbraked. Now on my 2nd Transalp 600 (1999 model) with a 650 TA in between. Superb bikes - the 650 TA is IMO better than the 650 AT and the 600 TA a nicer ride than either.

That, and simply not having $20 or $30K to blow on a motorcycle. The idea of riding the Warhorse across Australia excites me more than doing so on any of the modern ADV bikes / models. Maybe because I love this bike and look forward to any chance to ride it ...

Now I just have to buy an old clapper and do her up. Can't stop wishing dad was here - a mechanic for almost 60 years, he would have loved this series and no doubt would have jumped at the chance to do a rebuild with me. One day I'll muddle my way through with him watching on from above. Love your work Adam - fabulous production too, should be a TV series. Cheers and thanks, from Sydney - Dave

The day ends at the garage and my friend is proud of his work; an 88' XL600V has reborn. He asks me if i saw the new ARiemann1 warhorse video. My very own 92' RD04 in "f**k off colors" sits frowning in a dark corner, patiently waiting. After all, the passage of time is not a problem for the best adventure motorcycle ever made. Today was a good day. Cheers!
With ever bolt you trun, every part you replace, that got me it's an absolute truth. My old Honda varadero 1000 isn't just a bike she is my Landy v. Every trip we do I love her just that bit more...
The music was epic... The build is epic... There is something about getting an old bike and making it new again, certainly a labour of love. I have had a '97 VFR750 for 2 years, first road bike in 15 years of ADV bikes. Half rebuilt it and did 2 up /3000km around Tasmania on it recently, never missed a beat. Looking for a KTM950 ADV S now to replace the Super Tenere. To rebuild, find parts, spanner and then ride these older bikes is just a joy. Have bought new before, the research and buying is a good buzz, but a year down the track I just feel a little empty.
I lived on the east coast and bought a 1989 Honda Transalp site unseen from a guy in Oregon. I flew out to Seattle and he met me at the airport with the bike and I rode it back home. I loved every mile. I’ve sold it a few years ago and since bought a 2020 Africa Twin DCT ES and it’s a beast. But I miss the Transalp.
I just bought my first ever rd04 1991 Afrika Twin with white, red and blue colours. I couldnt be more exited! Your videos with this bike made me want one and now I have it. Thank you for inspiration, I'm so in love with my bike!

I’m so glad you kept the stitched screen. Love all your stuff. I doubt you’ll read this. I’m 65. My first road bike was a brand new XT500 after, like you riding heaps of junk on the fields from the age of 13. I can’t ride now because of illness and am pretty much housebound but you’ve got me looking at Africa Twin prices 😂😂 ride on brother. Be safe. Graham. UK.
Back in 1998 the first time i saw XRV750 made me think this bike going to be a legend, its great to see u riding this, will look forward to your adventures on the Warhorse!

Brilliant vid. Brilliant bike. Patina pending. The sound is incredible. Fully appreciated all the way from beautiful Oregon. Fully enjoy all the smiles she'll bring you.
Great work with the warhorse. After I had my first taste of offroad driving with a rented bike, I spend my last summer getting the warhorse's little sister, my 1993 Transalp ready for the dirt. It's amazing how well these old bikes behave offroad with just a little bit of modding. The Africa Twin and the Transalp are the definition of "Old but gold."
Bro when I started watching this video I was like, if Warhorse was mine, I'd keep the broken and repaired windshield. And then that's exactly what you did! So happy that she's been brought back to life. Love your content. Cheers!
I couldn’t of said it better👏👏👏👍 she’s a beaut! Great job she came out gorgeous & I luv that u kept her main battle scar it gives her character. Great episode, luv all ur films👍
Man, I celebrate every single Warhorse video. I love the fact that you kept the fixed windscreen. Telling a story…I also think that the XRV 750 is a unique legend, the best bike ever…like a 80 or 70 series Land Cruiser in the car world. Already as a child and later teenager, I adored this bike. I sold mine years ago and have missed her ever since. Your videos on the Warhorse were the last missing piece. I will get another one and will never sell it again. Keep up your great, inspiring work. I love your videos.
Outstanding video Adam! You're the last of a dying breed of men. One who can take an old motorcycle and make it better than the company put out. You even had the powder coater apply a zinc primer prior to the white for a life long finish.
I would agree there is a joy in fixing up and riding an older bike. The joy is multiplied with working on it, kinda of like building a master piece if you will. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely not up to the scale of the AT but I've spent the last year or so building up a 1999 Suzuki DR350 that I'm very proud of. Did all of it on my own and learned as I went, from full race tech goldvalce rebuild to converting from AC to DC...it is a dirt model.. full LED lighting including off-road lighting, lowered footpegs, raised bars, new seat, and a light adventure/dual sport tank and rear bag setup. Came off a brand new Beta 300 I had up until last year but honestly love riding what I've built. I've enjoyed watching every one of the videos in this series. Thank you!!

The feeling of working on your machine and riding it after is amazing. To me is therapy working on my 'old' 2005 sv650 and then ride it and see the result of all my work. Also, when you study your bike, service it and restore it you get the knowledge of how it works and that brings a great satisfaction
Yeah, it becomes fantastic right after the initial few hundred km of doubt whether you messed up the complete rebuild of the engine or not :)
@@radoslavtomov9121 never went that far with the engine mainly because always had japanese bikes with very reliable engines and the bike i have with highest milleage is a 300cc scooter with 74000km
That has got to be the most beautiful Africa twin i have ever seen.
This isn’t a restoration. It’s a love story.
Thanks Adam, you have inspired me to resurrect my old girl and bring some life back to both of us.
Stumbled across your channel last weekend and got hooked on your travel through Norway, Sweden and Finland. So happy you released this today and revealed the overhauled battle-scarred warhorse! Can't wait for the adventures to come!
Just discovered your channel. I am an old 72 year old war horse vietvet. You really put out a professional video that I will be living th 15:39 vicariously through. Looking forward to your adventures. SemperFi
Truly amazing in every way, your knowledge, passion and ability are in inspiration to us all - and you do all of this without exposing yourself, getting your arse out or posing with a bike in budgie-smugglers. Respect Adam, as every you’ve left me desperate to see the next edition!
Man, I love the fact that you kept the scarred windshield. It looks so unique and gives the bike even more character. Watching your video makes me want to fix up my old RD07 :D Keep up the good work and thank you for making these awesome videos.
Take care!
10:44 it's that moment of enjoying the view
Damn i am feeling nostalgic now . Been watching this workhorse for long .. really left it
This is one of the best bike stories ever, well done Adam, cannot wait to see what is next.
Cheers!
This right here is soul fuel!❤ Well done mate.
The best part of the resto is that you kept the stitched screen.
Nicely done.
After a long time mate its good to see warhorse again waiting for your awsome motorcycle traveling adventures ❤
With ever bolt you trun, every part you replace, that got me it's an absolute truth. My old Honda varadero 1000 isn't just a bike she is my Landy v. Every trip we do I love her just that bit more...
Adam, you’ve satisfied my OCD for the week haha 😅
This made me proud to be a motorcyclist. Amazing!
This. Is. Epic. I love that you used the original screen. Like a scar from an amazing adventure!
Absolutely love the fact that you reused the damaged screen.
Man I've been subscribed since the wheeling in front of the pyramids. This has been my favorite series so far. Can't wait to see the war horse charge out through Australia
Be safe. Graham. UK.
I love how you resto'd it but left it's identity. I cheered when the screen went back on. Awesome stuff mate 👍
Back in 1998 the first time i saw XRV750 made me think this bike going to be a legend, its great to see u riding this, will look forward to your adventures on the Warhorse!
Rebuilt my XR650L this past winter and doing the final tuning after dragging it our of my barn after 15 years. It’s a pig but it’s my pig. Thanks for the great videos Adam!
Brilliant vid. Brilliant bike. Patina pending. The sound is incredible. Fully appreciated all the way from beautiful Oregon. Fully enjoy all the smiles she'll bring you.
The war horse looks fantastic. Great job well done. There are many adventures left on that bike without a doubt.
Am I the only one who watches these war horse videos with a lump in my throat! Cant wait to see more war horse videos!
You've raised the bar. She's a beauty and screaming to be taken around the world. Epic adventures ahead, mate.
cheers, for a WAR HORSE, you are an inspiration, all the best, greetings from Serbia
So glad you kept the original windscreen!!
The most pristine Warhorse out there, but I love that you kept her scar, her personality.
It fits perfect.
Perfect work!! 24 years with a RD03, I really sometimes miss her....thanks for keeping the old mchines alive!!
So glad you left the screen ,that’s history right there 👍
It’s a pleasure to follow along. Thanks for sharing all you knowledge and experience.🏍️💨💪🏽
Wow, it sounds great, beautiful work, go and enjoy it . The warhorse is back!
I would agree there is a joy in fixing up and riding an older bike. The joy is multiplied with working on it, kinda of like building a master piece if you will. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for this Video🙏🏻 As I also own such an old lady (RD04 from 91), I love to see that there are still adventures to experience👍😀
So glad you kept the warhorse’s battle scar.
Thank you!!
Beautifully done. Looking forward to seeing more of this “old girl!”
oh man !!this thing with the old patched up windscreen is so emotional! i almost cried
I love that you used the old patched windshield. Nice work bro. She looks fantastic
Mate! I'm sitting here nearly crying, tonsee what you and the old girl has been through was amazing and to see her with a new lease of life is just heartwarming, when you put that old windscreen back on It nearly sent me 😭
Hope you and the old girl have some beautiful adventures together she certainly deserves it 👌🏻
Love from Scotland 🏴
I liked how you're not changing the wind shield and I still remember when the warhorse taking you everywhere. I hope you make another adventure video with the warhorse again! great video as always. cheers!
Bikes which the never die. Legend Africa Twin. Nice restoration
Who ever said you should never fall in love with your bike/car, is talking bollocks. The War Horse is proof of this. Fantastic mate, you are an inspiration Adam. Thanks, Wayne in Liverpool, England....😃👍
What a fantastic story Adam realy enjoyed watching the old warhorse 👍🏻
I genuinely enjoyed every second of that video and now I'm on eBay looking at old Africa twins. Bravo sir
Thoroughly enjoyed watching the restoration process.
Love it. Love the colour scheme. I think you deserved that glass of wine. I found the video very inspiring.
Africa Twin 750, certainly Honda's happiest project of its time, imposing, elegant, voluminous, my favorite among all the bigtrails of that time.😍👍🇧🇷
