If you've never been there, you might want to spend a few weeks in Michigan's Upper Peninsula & Lake Superior. I'm moving back there after living all over for the last 11 years. It's rural, winters are brutal & last much longer than elsewhere, but it's also magickal. Go there in Summer for a few years and you won't want to leave. You seem pretty self-sufficient and resourceful... that's what it takes to live in the U.P. Lots of people only stay for the Summer and live elsewhere in Winter... nice if you can do that, but the locals respect people who are resilient and can stay through Spring & eventually become a local. Pasties (a meat & potato hand pie) are a local cuisine... there are recipes online if you want to try that first. 🙂
I've lived in western Washington my whole life - I definitely agree with you about the cost of living being a down side to the area. But I disagree with you about there being no fall. It could be because this is the only place I've really experienced the season, but personally, it's my favorite of the year. We still have the evergreen trees, but the deciduous ones all have such wonderful colors in the fall. There is reprieve from the summer heat, a new season of drizzly rain after a few months of drought, the grasses and other small plants come back to life with that new rain, and the air just smells different - fresh yet earthy.
Maybe it was the area she lived in? Not all areas grow or develop the same. In more earthy areas, the fall season really thrives and you can even find toadstools and various types of herbs that wouldn’t grow as easily or at all as in other areas.
I have been here, in WA, since 96. I started in Renton and have made our way South and West. We are now in a great place. Travel South to continue to love WA.
Have you ever considered to jump into the tiny house movement? You could live in a lovely custom made cottage on wheels and put it anywhere you like or could afford. I've seen many people around the world especially in Usa, is living in tiny houses because of the high costs of living, they end up being free, of mortgage, some of them even live off the grid, saving lots of money. I totally see you living in a green witch tiny house!! Love and light💜
I was going to suggest the same idea! There are plenty of good channel here on UA-cam and I'm addicted to those video right in these days. There are tiny houses SO beautiful and especially the movable ones are lovely! Moreover, since we're talking about affordable livestyles, why not dig into off-grid, earthships, and frugal/zero waste movements? I'm dipping my nose into those now, because I'm Italian and with the consequences of big economical problems in my family (due to my dad) and I love the idea of find a home for "cheap" to renovate in the future and have lifestyle as sustainable as I can. Obviously many things here are not or just partially doable but..why not take a piace here and there and put them together?
It depends, if you break down or the weather is completely awful, the price to get it fixed is very expensive and it’s mainly good for on the go, but not for long term, unless you’re willing to pay the price.

I've been on a similar journey. I grew up in the mountains of North Carolina. But shortly after college I decided to up and move to Oregon because I loved the Pacific Northwest. It is it's own kind of beautiful - the big trees, rocky coastline, everything about it felt so perfect for me. But it was like, timing wasn't right? Or perhaps I became homesick for the Appalachian mountains. Regardless, I came home after just 6 months there and stayed in my North Carolina mountain town for some time until recently moving to a city (for work). Now also taking a look up north on the east coast (hey, Maine, what's up?) I love following this journey of yours and thank you for always having such a calming presence! 🦋

As a Washington Native who has lived outside my state, I have not found a place I enjoy better, perhaps it's the familiar part of it. I guess maybe I am also used to the cost of living here and after living in Hawaii it doesn't seem as bad lol. Speaking of Hawaii, living there I learned I did not like perpetual summer like I thought I would. For you it may seem like there is no fall, for me, I definetly feel that change, but it is maybe more subtle than what you are used to. The leaves are just starting to turn and soon will be a glow of red, orange and green. I was super happy to find that the plantain grows in abundance in my yard, I also have chamomile as well, it's been fun to discover them after all this time. My figs will be ripe soon and I am looking forward to making some fig jam this year.
I would certainly love to sit on that bank and paint the view. Absolutely lovely! Virginia had quite a few spots similar in appeal as does my current residence here in Arkansas. However, the scene shown was so inviting and peaceful, it begs for capture in various media. Love your videos. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
I go back to where I was born and bred to visit but its no longer my home. It was changing when I left and its so different now I could never return. My home now is rural near the sea and cheaper to live, so I got lucky! Lovely vid very peaceful, thankyou.

Thank you for bringing us along on this journey! The way you share the fluidity and future unknowns of your story feels very relatable. It feels raw and genuine and I find it all very comforting. Your self awareness and purposeful reflection is also such an inspiration. Keep following your heart, you’re doing great ❤️
Enjoy your journey don't over think it. Thank you for sharing. I live in England but feel my ancestors lands some place else its a funny feeling that searching for "home" the land holds us tho xx
I live in Michigan and we have all 4 seasons..it's beautiful here in the fall.winter can get cold.upper part of lower Michigan has abit more woodlands and more peaceful..take care of u self.blessed be
Before you give up on Washington, I highly recommend you check out the other side of the state. The Spokane area and the rural towns to the north are wonderful. You have the massive Columbia river, hundreds of lakes, and abundant life. You have that hard reset of the seasons, with fairly mild winters and the cost of living is much lower than that of the west coast. :) You might find your song there. :)
You’d love Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia has seasons, tons of wild weeds, mountains, and a really relaxed atmosphere. The people are so accepting and nonjudgmental.
I'm born and raised in WA and in the areas closer to Mt Rainer (south of the Puget Sound) and we certainly have a fall. Right now the leaves are changing to fall colors, some are falling and it's just wonderful to see. The more east you go or south more towards Olympia you'll see more changes. Best wishes on your future travels.
I moved to the San Juan islands from California three years’ ago, and for me the biggest shock was adjusting to seasonal changes. It feels the opposite of “constant” to me, but wildly different from Seattle. I also have health issues that make heat impossible, and the islands are fabulous for someone like me who struggles with extreme temperatures. It absolutely feels like “fall” to me right now. We don’t have the dramatic colors, but I’m still reeling from how quickly the days shorten, the sky darkens, the temperature drops, the rain and wind have now started, and my horses are busy growing their winter fur. Financially, my comparison is California, and so it feels almost ridiculously inexpensive. Island life does raise prices, but we compensate by growing a lot of our own food and planning better for what to get when we go to the mainland. The other thing I’ve never experienced until the islands is an informal barter and favors culture. That’s probably saved us many thousands of dollars here already. But I had to live in many many places in the world before finding the one that feels right. It’s always worth continuing to explore. You’ll know when you know 💁♀️.
I too am having trouble understanding what is meant by not having fall here in Washington. Is it because we have so many conifers (Evergreen state)? We have lots of oaks and maples too. We definitely have 4 seasons, although 3 of them are wet, and none of them are extreme (this summer was a bit of an exception and may be the way of the future). Fall has definitely arrived in PNW as of this weekend, my son is asking when we can turn on the furnace, but I am trying to hold out until October.
I grew up in Virginia (beach) as well, moved to Portland, OR at 28 yrs old. I ADORE the PNW, but it is really heart warming & beautiful to hear you compare the two! Its like hearing from a dear, long-time friend. Your production skills are stunning, but your personality is brilliant, and shines through. ♡♡ Be well, Annabel!
I cannot believe how fast the plantine works. It is amazing. I rub it together in my hands with a small amount of water then rub it on the bites. Itch gone.
I’m so excited for you .. ☀️ I feel the same way.. I am from cape cod and every summer in Maine ..but have been stuck in mining town in mOntana for 20 yrs.. the smoke all summer .. no seasons and snow make it hard for me to go out ..I would love to move back to New England.. Another wonderful video! No words, Annie truly, no words - except, thank you for this soul massage. Try not to seek out 'perfection.' I wonder if it exists. Ever. In any dimension. Wishing you unending love as you continue along your life's adventure.
I hope your remaining time in Washington is peaceful, and I wish you the best of luck on your next adventure in figuring out where your roots will thrive the best!
You are speaking to my heart. My husband and I moved to WA from FL five years ago, and now we are moving back. Leaving WA is going to break my heart, but it's the best thing for us right now. I understand that complex mix of emotions that comes from loving a place that is ultimately not for you right now. Safe travels.
Im from nys and looking to leave for many reasons. You're young and will find the place that says home to you. The great thing about going home to VA is family and knowing the land will always embrace you. 😊 NYS is great for a variety of reasons, including foliage, so is WA, Maine, Vermont, Tennessee, etc. So many states so many good things. You'll find your happy space. You'll know it in your heart.
This is a beautiful video, Annie. I’m right at the border of Tennessee and Virginia, and I don’t think I could ever leave the landscape. There’s nothing quite like it! I understand the difficulties associated with some of the people here when you live a life like I do, but the landscape is just something special that I couldn’t leave if I tried. Honestly, I feel like you’d love Pennsylvania because it’s quite similar to this region. I was born in PA, and I still miss it tremendously. It’s a very similar landscape to the area I live in now, but PA is wonderful, particularly western PA. Eastern PA has a lot of Amish in the countryside, which is great, but it’s just not my cup of tea. Western PA is my favorite! And they have big seasons! Anyway, you’re an incredible person, and I can’t wait to witness your journey to finding where you’d like to plant your roots!
Plantain is so amazing. The leaves we have where I live in Australia are longer and less rounded. I love to collect and dry it. It's in all my balms and the young leaves are good in a salad. We also add it dried and ground into our green stock powder! Nice to hear from you Annie ❤
Eastern Washington has Fall. We are the "dry side" of the state and have more real seasons, perhaps you can come spend some time on this side when you drive back?
I live in Europe and I've had to move away from places I loved several times because I couldn't afford the cost of living and there were other issues that forced me to leave. I totally know how heartbreaking it can be to leave behind a place you're in love with. My favourite place is Devon in the UK, I'm currently living here and I am very in love with this place... but I'll have to leave in a few months. It's sad and though I love it so much, I know I'm not meant to settle here. There is another place that is calling my soul, I haven't been there yet but I will hopefully get to explore it soon. Devon will always have a special place in my heart, even if I'm not meant to live here forever. ❤️
We always come back to where we were raised several times. Home though takes time to find. Take it from a Northern Indiana born and raised to now living in the High Sonoran Desert witch. Home... takes time.
You confirmed exactly what kind of change you need, which is good. What we often fail to see, is what is rate before our eyes, in new areas or in new experiences. This is wear creativity is most important, as it can lead us, to much discovery.
Lovely seeing so many fellow Michiganders on here. Our state is pretty and I'm sure you'd love a visit but I won't repeat what others have said. Seems like Hazel's loving the visit to Virginia. Might have to visit. It's lovely.
We just moved our kids to Missouri near the Arkansas border. Gainsville Missouri actually. We chose it there because it is in a growing zone 7a. It gets a couple of months really hot and humid, usually July and August. But if you go up just a tad into zone 6 of Missouri it will be a little cooler but still, have the benefit of being in a healthy plant growing zone. To live there is much much cheaper. In the area of Jefferson City Missouri, it is a 6a which means you will get all four seasons. It is not an area of tornados or other scary things. The population is about 42,000 so it is big enough but not to big and you should be able to get work...although I am not sure what you do. My daughter grew up in Wyoming and has lived in Idaho for the last 9 years. They are absolutely loving Missouri! They bought a house on 9 acrers for only 69,000! You could find a place to rent easily for around $500. The area is very soothing on the soul. I see your struggle and thought this might give you food for thought. If you want to chat I am here or Facebook.
Have you ever been to New Hampshire? It’s the best of Virginia and wilderness. The people are friendly and I have made so many friends there. It’s beautiful and a very special place. The only thing that I don’t like is winters with too much snow. The lakes region is the most breathtaking place I have ever been - mountains surrounding beautiful lakes, lots of vegetation, and a connection to the landscape.
I feel you girl!!! I’m a California native and moved to Colorado. Exploring the wilderness, the leaves changing during fall. Something to look into to. Western slopes have wonderful weeds, mushrooms and amazing rivers and lakes. I’m back in California and I’m missing Colorado big time. I will return to Colorado, my heart and soul belong there.
So grateful I am not the only one who relocated lovely little spiders and things back outside. Also never knew that was plantain and it is in abundance in my yard.
This spot is absolutely amazing. I recently moved to the busy city in Los Angeles and absolutely miss living in the midwest, your vlogs keep me sane with these beautiful sounds and sights. Thank you for sharing! Always happy to learn and be inspired by you !
You might like to explore a mobile tiny house lifestyle. I love watching these tiny house channels. You can set up anywhere and the house is yours. You don't have to keep paying rent and they resell well.
When I listen to you talk about Virginia it reminds me of how I feel about NE Iowa, where my grandma lived. There was the Upper Iowa River and nights running around barefoot chasing lightening bugs and a peace that I always felt when going there. It was such a peaceful place for my soul. When you speak about Virginia it makes it's just how I feel about Iowa. Thank you for sharing this.

I love Washington State too and honestly I can't imagine myself living anywhere else, but you are correct it is extremely expensive. I hope in time when you are in Washington we would cross paths. I've slowly watched you grow the past couple years I've been following you. I give you Kudos and all that you do. It takes a strong spirit. And I admire that, as well as feeling lucky to watch what you share.
I have lived all over the planet by this point and I've grown to love each place. This makes it difficult to decide where I want to settle...I am increasing leaning towards Chile, but I love my country and I don't think I could permanently leave it. I even miss Tampa.
And yet, come winter, that's also one of the bad things. I'm from there and remember some of those killer lake effect snows. You take the bad with the good when you live there.
Thank you for bringing us around for looks into your life. These videos always exude a kind of peace and serenity that, as someone living in urban SE Ohio, is very difficult to find out here.
Hi fellow Buckeye. I’m more central but I agree. How are we viewed as a more agricultural state and yet we have a very “fast, fast, go” lifestyle? I’ve been working to purposefully make my home a place of slower movement and lowered expectations. I wish it would extend beyond my front door ☺️
Me living in Oregon and visiting family in Tacoma, WA. I can tell you, they definitely have fall. I feel so nostalgic around fall time and wish to go back around that time of year but can't do it due to it being way more expensive to travel up there then down here.
Very cool to see you back in your stomping grounds. Your energy there is noticeably different. However, I also 100% understand wanting to be somewhere else; exploring this beautiful land ♡.
Seek Fall in WA! It does have it. Also, Oregon as well. Again check out the Peninsula if you haven't made it there yet especially if you love wild nature and water. It's all there. The city isn't anything like it there. Congrats on exploring btw! That's huge. Wishing you safe travels back! I am on my same home journey as well so I am excited for you.

Everyone seems to have a suggestion for where you might enjoy next, so I want to toss one out, too. Northeast Ohio (Cleveland/Akron/Canton) is a great blend of the magic of city life and the tranquility of rural life. We have gorgeous parks with unique topography, but just a short drive north and you hit one of the Great Lakes, which live up to the moniker. It’s a very underrated place to live. We’re like the meeting point of all worlds here. Plus, still only a day’s drive from family when you feel the mountains calling you back. Just a thought to ponder. 😊

The detail in your tattoo is wonderful, very vivid! Wonderful video as usual. Blessed be and safe travels!
Your videography should be used in movies. It really sets a tone and is very intriguing. Love it. I’m happy you’re home.
Lovely Annabel✨Love how you share your life.Thank you for letting me be a part of it 🌟
Nothing beats a New England Fall! 😉😉😉💕🍂🍁 I’m excited for your next adventure! Meanwhile I’m Melting at 91 degrees here in Louisiana today!
Oh my dear love I have missed some of your videos. But I’m getting all caught up now. Your videos are so calming. Thank you so much for taking along your journey.
Thank you for including us on these adventures ❤
You never disappoint with your content, Annie. Safe travels for when you head back to Washington ❤️
Thank you
Thank you for bringing us along on this journey!
I live in England but feel my ancestors lands some place else its a funny feeling that searching for "home" the land holds us tho xx
clarity if such a gift...safe journeying
Plantain (which I pronounce 'plantin') makes a good cough syrup, too. I've rescued several old jars from the community recycling center's glass bins.
I live in Michigan and we have all 4 seasons..it's beautiful here in the fall.winter can get cold.upper part of lower Michigan has abit more woodlands and more peaceful..take care of u self.blessed be
I'll add it to the list! Thank you!
Here in Northeastern Lower Michigan the cost of property is very reasonable.
You have such a warm energy.... Never stop shining 🌟 it's your purpose
Make the journey count, destinations are magical unknown's,love your calm energy x
Whatever you do, have a magical Mabon! And full Harvest Moon! Blessed be!
You might find your song there. :)
You’d love Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia has seasons, tons of wild weeds, mountains, and a really relaxed atmosphere. The people are so accepting and nonjudgmental.
Also free healthcare.
I could totally see her vibing with Olympia!
Can’t wait for your next journey. It’s such a joy watching you and following you.
Your Light is powerful ✨ 🙌
Be well, Annabel!
I used to camp in White Mountains of NH every fall 🧡
Broad leaf and narrow leaf! I have both in my yard in WA! 💕
@@Rooskitooski Me too, here in W. Oregon!
Eastern Washington has Fall. We are the "dry side" of the state and have more real seasons, perhaps you can come spend some time on this side when you drive back?
Beautiful slow days…love them so much…restorative and reflective…
Beautyful life and natur. Thank you very much.
gorgeous cinematography! I love videos like this, with beautiful music, nature, witchcraft all wrapped together.
Mason jars of all kinds are just a wonderful thing.
We always come back to where we were raised several times. Home though takes time to find.
Take it from a Northern Indiana born and raised to now living in the High Sonoran Desert witch. Home... takes time.
Minnesota has a beautiful fall season!
I hope you find the right place for you soon.
I admire that you are taking time & consideration with this.
I would love to just sit next to you drinking tea and observe. Your energy is awesome!
Such incredible scenery and videography ! Thank you for sharing.
I think you would love Maine! All four seasons, very bio diverse, not too hot, cheap living (in rural areas)
I love autumn.
I returned to my homeland as well. I always meet past versions of myself when I return. To see the changes in my inner being reflected back to me. ❤️
It's always so soothing to watch your videos.
So grateful I am not the only one who relocated lovely little spiders and things back outside. Also never knew that was plantain and it is in abundance in my yard.
Your videos are always so calming and beautiful. I hope you find the perfect place that id just right for you.
I grew up in Seattle and I can no longer live there, because of the cost. I hear you.
You would love Eastern Washington. I live in the Leavenworth area right next to woods and mountains. It’s so different than Seattle.
Right! Seattle and surrounding areas are the WORST parts of WA. There is so much more this state has to offer.
Agreed. Olympic Peninsula here.
I was thinking the same thing. I feel like she would like central Washington more. Totally different than the west side. Unfortunately prices aren't much better though.
@@lauramonahan9343 My husband and I would love to move to the Olympic peninsula. We're hoping to do so in about 5 years or so. So gorgeous and peaceful there. We really love the Brinnon area.
Thank you for sharing, ink excited for your newest upcoming adventures 💓
Each state, place have their charms. Enjoy the journey. I’m Sure you will find a place that speaks to your soul, spirit, heart.
I live in NH which I love.I think you would really enjoy Vermont, I was born in Washington State and loved WA as well.
I have lived all over the planet by this point and I've grown to love each place. This makes it difficult to decide where I want to settle...I am increasing leaning towards Chile, but I love my country and I don't think I could permanently leave it. I even miss Tampa.
Your videos are always a breath of fresh air and they make me miss Oregon
Thanks for sharing your adventure. I love hearing that someone else on the planet has not found their forever home location that's a perfect fit.
Amazing views thanks for sharing
The nice thing about Michigan is access to the Great Lakes is never far no matter where in the state you settle.
I love you took the spider outside. I had a mama mouse give birth in my house and I captured them all and released them. ❤️❤️
Very cool to see you back in your stomping grounds. Your energy there is noticeably different. However, I also 100% understand wanting to be somewhere else; exploring this beautiful land ♡.
Hi! You should come explore Oregon! its super beautiful and we have all the seasons ! lots of nature !
I am on my same home journey as well so I am excited for you.
i have lived my whole life in the PNW. born in north Seattle, living in south end right now. I also lived near the mountains, coast and island life. i would love to live in the mountains.. but will never leave. me heart is here. i am glad you are coming back. getting out of down town Seattle is a good thing to do. a good place to look is on the peninsula .
The shots u showed at the beginning was the closest to what my mind imagines heaven to look like !!! So beautiful!! X
When I lived in western Washington (Seattle and Edmonds) I used to say I needed to go home (to
East TN) to “recharge my battery”
Everyone seems to have a suggestion for where you might enjoy next, so I want to toss one out, too. Northeast Ohio (Cleveland/Akron/Canton) is a great blend of the magic of city life and the tranquility of rural life. We have gorgeous parks with unique topography, but just a short drive north and you hit one of the Great Lakes, which live up to the moniker. It’s a very underrated place to live. We’re like the meeting point of all worlds here. Plus, still only a day’s drive from family when you feel the mountains calling you back. Just a thought to ponder. 😊
keep searching until it feels good inside your soul!!!!! Much luck and blessings
come to Oklahoma it amazing here even tho it doesn't seem to be, I went camping last weekend and found some milk thistle and brought some home with me can't wait to use it
Ha this video is perfect. I just moved and a big patch of this stuff grows in the yard and I was wondering what I could do with the plantain.
