I suggested this over on your Paton and I'm going to suggest here once more. Consider living in an RV. You won't need to sign a lease, so you can move whenever and wherever you want until you find where you want to plant your roots.

Despite the huge difference in our ages, your current mood is much the same as mine. I feel ungrounded and unsettled so today I’ve taken a big step by putting my home up for sale in the hope I’ll be able to afford a small home in the country as I desperately need to be in nature. Autumn (Fall) is my favourite season so the cooler weather will lift my spirits in the meantime. This is a temporary phase - all will be well again soon. :)

The same here Catherine, I am much older than Annabel yet I have been feeling stuck and unwell, unsuccessful at growing my roots in this city where I feel I have been way too long...I have been making small trips to look for a place to try and live in, in the country, in nature, before selling my small city flat in order to change my life...unfortunately - as usual - life happens and more obstacles have yet slowed me down again and forced me to stop for a moment, but I am doing my best to nurture the intention to trust the process and find my way....blessings to you and wishing you to find your place...

My sister followed her heart. In the early '80's she took a welding course in British Columbia, Canada with the help of her then-partner/husband and they built a sailboat. Long story short they sailed across the Atlantic ocean. Since then she's has been living in a 200-year-old stone farmhouse in Brittany, France with her current husband of 20 years. The sailboat she built? It got sold after the divorce. Now she merrily sails the wooden sailboat she and her husband own on the Villain River. No more trans-Atlantic ocean crossings for this girl! She found her happy place in life.

I also feel that when you have the option to go/move any where it actually is a lot harder to make a decision on where to call “home”. Just keep following your heart. If I remember right, you chose to travel across country to find yourself, and I would suggest that's exactly the path that you are on. It sounds like you are recognising that living in and among nature is what is closest to your heart, and that's so easy to see by how you capture the beauty of nature within your videos, and in your apartment. They say that you can tell what's most important to a person by looking at what they have on their walls and within their photos. You needed the contrast of living in a city to find what's true to you, and that lease will be over before you know it.
It's lovely seeing Hazel romp around on the beach too. I don't believe she was actually eating those berries, they are dropping from her mouth before she takes off on another run; perhaps the tartness was tickling her mouth a little! Nature is good for you both. xx
Thank you for sharing your story, and I am loving the tattoo.
    Blessed be. xx

Totally understand how you are missing Nature and all Her gifts. Makes me even more grateful for the life I have; living in the woods, tending the gardens, making herbal remedies, surrounded by 7 cats. Autumn in Massachusetts is enviable and I wouldn't trade it, it's such a beautiful season and I'm eagerly awaiting those colors to burst forth. There's really nothing like growing your own food and foraging for berries and fruits. But...I also have that Wanderlust and love traveling around the world for new adventures...but having this place to come home too. Annie, you will find your peace soon, I just know it. Blessed Be. I wholeheartedly connected with what you were saying about the seasons. Out here in western Washington, it's always green. It's always lush, there's always life, there is always abundant energy. And it's exhausting. I've lived here for the past five years for school, and personally I don't think it's somewhere I'll ever settle. I need the changing of the seasons. I need the things around me to go dormant in the winter so my soul can rest with them. When I don't get that rest, I get resentful, ungrateful, and depressed. It's hard being so connected to the earth because she has so much more energy than we do, and when we live somewhere she doesn't sleep, we don't sleep either.

Change is meant to be hard, if it wasn't it wouldn't be called "change", it would be called "comfortable". Home is calling you home and figuring out the path to get there is the challenging (not a bad challenge per say) part. I hope your path becomes clear soon, but in the meantime keep saying "lesson learned" when things go wrong. (Hazel is a beautiful pup and definitely has "her" human) Take care

Hazels zoomies lifted my spirits. I needed that.
Moving to Washington or northwest oregon is my dream. I’m stuck in alabama right now and I’m unhappy. I went to the Pacific Northwest in 2010 and fell in love and did not want to come back here and I had to and I have felt the PNW calling me back so strong and the pull is getting stronger to where I’m getting more and more restless in my spirit. If I could find a place that was within an hours drive of Seattle I would be happy but it’s so expensive out there it’s extremely discouraging median house prices out there are three times what I paid for my house here. I totally understand the pull of nature and the need to move on

It's good to travel and experience different modes of living when you're young so that you'll be able to find contentment when you're older. Imo, you'll be hard pressed to ever find anywhere here in the US as beautiful and magical as our Southeastern seasons and countryside (especially when that's what you've grown up with). You are not the only one that feels this way. I am from rural Georgia and my husband and I moved here almost a year ago now and my practice is very much like yours, based in the earth and feeling the earth. We miss the slowness of our home, we miss the nature because we moved from 17 acres of just pasture and wooded land. We are actually moving back to Georgia in April. We love certain things about Washington but it has made it so difficult for me to feel connected to my magick and the earth itself because things exist in a different way up here. So you aren't alone and you are right about the nostalgia, even the seasons do not feel the same here and it makes me miss where I am from.

It's funny that you post this today, as I've been feeling much the same lately. It's as if I am stuck in a whirlpool, with all the same sights spinning about me until I'm too dizzy to tell which way I should even attempt to swim. I collapsed in tears only an hour ago and I'm not entirely sure why. I feel disconnected and lost, as if this life that I truly adore has somehow gone grey. I really don't like the feeling, and I hope that I can find a way to bring the colors back and find the right direction to swim. I love my life, and all that is in it, but I feel as if something very important is missing. I hope deeply that you find your direction, Annie. I honestly have no doubt you will. Your videos have helped guide me on a path of self discovery that I didn't even know I needed. Your craft and art is a blessing to so many, and I appreciate every moment you choose to share with us, no matter what table it's at. You somehow manage to capture the beauty in even the simplest of things. Also, perhaps consider filming the bits of nature you stumble upon in the city. Have you thought about going back to Virginia for/in autumn? I'm from the UK where journeys take 20 minutes or 12 hours so I don't know if that is logistically possible, but it might help you feel a bit more grounded.

The same thing happened to me. So I made a mental list of what's important in my life 1. Near water 2. Nature 3. Activities like dancing, music 4. Learning. 5. Travel.
I contacted realtors up to 8 hrs from the city and it took me 10 months of on-the-spot travel to find where I was to be. When I crossed a river and saw a towering bluff ahead a feeling like I never felt before came over me. I found home.
That's how it worked for me, my dog and cat.
You can find what you need.

I totally relate to the need for change in the fall. I'm always inspired to be busy somehow in the autumn. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling stuck, but want to offer some hopefully useful empathy from my own experience. I once took a job that also involved a move. Both the job and the location were both objectively "good", but they didn't suit me and after a few months I was very unhappy. But, I had signed a two year contract and was very stuck. That time was difficult, but I learned so much about myself, what I need, and the fact that it is okay if I need something different than other people. And when my contract was over and I was no longer stuck, I was able to take those lessons on with me and they continue to enrich my life and inform how I live it.

I totally understand how you feel! I just moved to a new, cute city that I was really excited about living in…only to discover how much I desperately wanted/needed to be in nature. Sadly, we bought our house and have a few bigger life changes to deal with before I can realistically move, but my next place is DEFINITELY going to be closer to nature. Wishing you all the best, hang in there!! ❤️

Great storytelling in this video! Yes it was shot mostly at your table, but that didn’t matter. I was interested and engaged in the message you passed along. Without going into too many details, I was recently in a similar situation. I had lived in one place for many years, then moved very quickly to somewhere new. The transition caused a lot of anxiety and second-guessing. What’s important is that a counselor told me it takes, at minimum, six months to adjust to a new living environment. Hang in there! From the video it looks like you’re doing much better than I did!

I just want to say thank you for this video. Almost a year ago now I drove from NY to WA myself. Leaving everything familiar behind and going to a place I had nothing and no one. I'm dealing with similar struggles of needing to be in nature more and needing a space of my own. I rent a room at the moment and they are selling the house so I have to be out quick. I also want my own space to call my own with my own land that I can make mine. All this to say thank you. It's nice to know you aren't alone. I really connected with this video and its similarities to my current path.

I've been watching both of your channels for awhile. I had a feeling that you would tire of the city & want to get back to nature. We live in the city (Syracuse) but we have a yard & gardens. I could never ever live in one of those type city apartments unless I wasn't physically able to live in our home. BTW, I love seeing Hazel in your vids.

Hello beautiful 🌼 I so much love watching you. I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 I love your seasons there.
I love all vlogs you do. Your voice brings me such calm. You have inspired me to do more kitchen Witchery and to bring the magic back into the mundane.
I have made salves and oils inspired by you✨
I just look forward to watching you so much as I tuck up in bed at night with my tea and my cat. I take notes and make some of your creations.

That feling you decribe at the beginning, 2.30-3.30, is one that led me to your channel back when, this one under the old name. I couldn't find my way out of lease and job to the country but I could enjoy watching someone who was closer to the life and whose feet were touching the earth. Keep at it. Slowly but surely you can get there.

You are wise to follow your intuition. As someone who also uprooted last year, and sometimes grapples with the new environment, it is uplifting to live vicariously in harmony with you and others who followed their intuition. The universe will continue to treasures for you--and you are doing it alone which is very courageous.

Sometimes we all need to step back from our lives. Are you keeping up with your artwork? How about starting a journal. You can pour your heart and soul out on paper. Then keep it or burn to unburden your mind. Someone suggested an RV. Leasing can be expensive and if you are traveling to find your happy place you would then have to return it. It might be more prudent to buy an inexpensive smaller camper that you can tow with your car. With motor homes, you have to unhook everything just to make a grocery store trip. We used to camp annually in mid to northern NH. Yeah, snow and cold, but the furnace in the camper is run by propane and electric for the fan. You have your own space and if you don't like the neighbors, you can unhook and move.

I am totally understanding how you are missing that connection with nature - and the feeling of being stuck between now and the future. I like you, have to travel a couple of hours to get anywhere near a good bit of nature that isn't crowded by our fellow humans - I need peace and quiet when I go venturing into nature - I need to hear the waters run, the wind in the trees, the rustling of the leaves, birdsong and critters... yeah, I'm with you there.
At least I have my little garden, which I am trying my darnedest to cram pack with flowers, herbs, berries, fruits and vegetables - it's a work in progress, but as I cannot afford to move out to the country, I am truly grateful for it!!
I hope you find your "place" soon - much love to you and Hazel (loved the zoomies)!!

It is such a joy to watch Hazel wanting to do what Mom is doing! :) I might have missed the comment reading window, but have you explore the more local city parks in your area much yet? I live next to DC, and while I do make sure to go to bigger parks when I can, I’ve also found a lot of solace in city parks, especially ones that are a little bit wild and unkempt. There is a lot of magic in little scraps of land where resilient plants flourish despite the odds, and they can be good places for foraging a little here and there. (Or a lot - there is always SO much garlic mustard, mulberries, wine berries, mugwort, Gill-over-the-ground, etc.)

When you were speaking about craving that slower lifestyle again and feeling you need more connection to nature that really hit me. I live on the East coast in the Western NY area and my boyfriend and I constantly take drives around the beautiful areas surrounding the larger city area where we currently live. Someday soon we will end up out there, but for now life is keeping us where we are and I can definitely tell you we are both craving something different! Being able to take long drives and walks has been our saving grace so just know I am right there with you Annie! I hope you find your happy place soon. Perhaps we will find ours sometime soon together! Looking forward to seeing you continue your journey! ☮💜 always.

Wishing you all the best on your next adventure! I understand completely feeling "confined" (for lack of a better term) in the city. I live east of Seattle and I can only take a few days in the city at a time. I love my slower life out closer to the mountains. I need water (creek, lake, ocean, etc) close by too. I can feel myself shrivel when I live places too far from water. May you find what you are looking for.
P.S. I know fall here isn't quite the same as you are used to back east but I hope you get a chance to see the maples and alders turn colors against the evergreens.🍁

Vlogging from your table is just fine with me. My guess is your constant viewers & subscribers love it too. Going out & enjoying nature is a wonderful treat too.
There will always be choices to make.
Sometimes it takes time & space away from a thing to even know what you may be missing. It's important to go exploring & experimenting with different lifestyles & environments while you have the resilience & resources to do so, especially, while you have the minimalist lifestyle to support such flexibility.
I am sure that you will find a way to find and share the quality of life from wherever you are, assuming that is what you continue to want to do.

I live just east of Salem in a small town and within 2 hours you can be in the rainforest or at the coast or in the mountains at the waterfalls and a little tiny bit more driving and you can be in the high desert over East. Nature is everywhere here and you just don't have to drive very far to get it. I'm going to make blackberry jam today with all the blackberries we picked on our property because my husband loves jam!
