I’ve made close to 50 videos counting shorts. I use the Deity lav mic and feel for my videos it has sounded the best. I also have a Movo vxr10 that I’ve tried to use as a boom mic but every extension cable I’ve tried has a low end hum. As for this video, first of all that was an excellent demo and comparison of all the different mics. For my budget, again I like the lab mic and boom mic. One question is are you using anything to set the gain on the mics on the smartphone? I have struggled with getting the gain and volume set correctly.

Do you (or anyone?) have any idea why my audio would sound *worse* after upgrading to a Rode VideoMicro with a TRS to TRRS cable, plugged into a TRRS to USB-C adapter, on Android? The sound is much more muffled and even distorted.

A little Constructive criticism, I really like your channels content but I have watched a lot of your videos and been apart of your youtube impact challenges and I am sorry to say but you guys end up sounding more like a Brocken record. I know you guys have found some really awesome strategies and tips that are great to stick with but maybe you can try finding out some new ideas and incorporating some into future videos? I just feel like whenever I watch your videos it is just a repeat of other videos in a different order. I have even bought every some of your guides and have been a bit disappointed in seeing that it was all information that I had heard from you before. I was hopping for some new information. Not trying to be mean just trying to give a suggestion. I hope you will take my suggestion to heart. Thank you for making really helpful content. Hope you have a great day.

Awesome video! Just what I was looking for on a review for a new mic for my smartphone. My favourite has to be the Deity D4 Mini mic as it sounds the clearest with not too much bass and has a nice tone too. Your voice has a nice soothing tone which sounds great. I do this for work often and I use a Shue MV88 small mic. attached to my phone. Sound is ok but could be better. I have so far made 90 videos with my phone.
I used to use a snowball ice mic next to my guitar amp, that limited my chances for recording acoustic guitar. I would also at times use the phone mic and place the amp close to the phones mic.
I invested in the RØDE vlogger kit, and now that is my to to mic for recording acoustic guitar.
The sound quality in my videos has changed so much by that investment.
I also have a small lav mic I got cheap for the times I want to talk on my videos..

Omar, this is EVERYTHING!!! So many AH-MAY-ZING options!!! You just answered basically all of my audio options questions in one clean and concise video!!!
Love how these would also have the capability to be used with EITHER a smart phone OR a camera!!! I have a camera, but these are excellent for someone who is starting with their smart phone, these options can be transferable to their future camera! Or for someone like me who still uses their smart phone on the go to easily capture some extra content~ knowledge of better audio options is a game changer!
Love the hack of the USB mic in the shot to create the illusion of a full on setup, it looked and sounded GREAT! Had good laugh about the thighs and running shorts too, that was so unexpected and funny!
Loved the hack with the area rug, that probably would not have crossed my mind!!!
Your videos are ALWAYS EXCELLENT, but THIS one is top notch, and I don't know HOW it's possible for you to improve even MORE from your typical standard of excellence, but you just did!

The #2 option diety v.lab mic isn't available in the link that you provided in the description anymore, but I got one from PoP voice instead. It is a wired two mic set up with over 15ft of extension cord I think each. All for around $28. Thank you.
I would like to have a wireless mic but it's a little more expensive and I don't want my audio to completely get cut off by a simple Bluetooth disconnect which would quite possibly happen more than not. Also, it seems that not all phones support every wireless mic so you might have to install third party camera apps to make it compatible. That's something I don't want to deal with. Wireless seems more like a liability and hassle despite its marketing being for convenience.

Condenser mics can be dangerous in the wrong hands, you’ve been warned.
Condenser’s suck in the sound all around you from a distance(typically), a dynamic mic is used for a closer recording(like live vocals, or noisy environment). This is important info for a beginner, I encourage you to research, and try out examples of both if you’re new to the audio game.
