Every game, every series, was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. I find myself coming back to these highlights every so often, nothing better than reliving it all over again like the first time. This Cubs team was insane. One of the grittiest teams in MLB history. There was no give in them. They got hit, they hit back just as hard. One of the best, If not the best October runs of all time. Edit: The sound coming out of Wrigley Field was electric. The loudest Wrigleyville has ever been.
This could be Cubs fan bias and I may be way off with this opinion, but in all my years of watching baseball, especially in the postseason, this team’s run is the only one I can recall where literally every batter had some kind of defining moment in the playoffs that helped contribute to the World Series. Even Hayward at some point. Literally everyone contributed at the plate. Magical stuff
I remember watching that double play on the night of my mom's birthday I remember holding my father and telling him something he had waited to hear for 39 years since he became a fan of the ballclub our Cubs were returning to the world series
Man Fowler put it all out there in his prime, sucks that his regression was so hard but when he was on he was amazing! I know he signed a minor league contract with the Jays this year, I wonder if he’s still there waiting for the post season call up?
There’s always an old guy in a pink hat behind the backstop at Wrigley. Probably so that people can see him on TV. What a dedicated Cubs fan to get season tickets every year
It's so close. The big question is were his fingers down when he was tagged. I think had the throw not beat him by so much I think it might have been called safe on the field and that might have been the difference in safe and out. As far as replay goes there is just no way to be sure looking at that. Either way I'm glad that didn't decide the game. That would have been a crappy way to do it.
7:40 Even as a Cubs fan, I will readily admit that Angel Hernandez blew another call there. Gonzalez was clearly safe, maybe his fingers were barely not in the plate when the very edge of the glove hit his jaw, but still. Hernandez blew another one.
Die hard Yankee fan here....from Chicago. Not a cubs fan, but watching them win, was truly something. Tip my hat to the Cubs.... BUT at 8:07 he was safe 😂
@ 12:40... Who brings their closer into the game with an 8-2 lead in the 9th inning? Chapman was so overused by Joe Madman in the 2016 postseason. The runs he gave up were not his fault. The Cubs won the World Series in spite of Joe Madmans' overmanaging.
Because the question came down to if his fingers were down or not. On the replay it looks like there may have been space between the plate and his fingers. It was extremely close, but I think they ended up calling it inconclusive which is a fair call.
I chalk it up as another blown call by MLB. While I know there "could have been" space under his fingers, he looks safe to me. I've seen replay calls actually called "safe" on WAY less evidence than this, but they call him out. A lot of the time I think it's MLB just doesn't want to admit they have shitty umps and don't want to admit they make bad calls.
Great series, but cubs fans are delusional to think this will happen again. Red Sox, Astros, Athletics, Yankees, Braves, Brewers, and Dodgers will waste them in the playoffs. Hold on to that one title kids, Astros are the current champions now, not the flubs.

Same here, man.
Rewatching these videos of the 2016 postseason is the only thing that gives me joy as a Cubs fan, anymore...
May the core rest in peace....
as a dodgers fan looking back this was one helluva series even though it only went 6 gg too the cubs for an amazing series
I watched this series, and the cubs winning the World Series with my dad on tv. He passed but man those memories of the cubs in 16 sustain me
Indians fan here. I have to say that if anybody had to beat my Indians in the 2016 World Series, I'm glad it was the Cubs.

Joseph Fleeger the face of choke

the cubs have become such a fun team to watch
This might’ve been Joe Buck’s best series commentating
yea
I agree! He’s grown into his role since that series. I enjoyed his calls during this series and the WS too
@@MarcusB-qr1hk in the 2016 WS, he was terrible. So clearly biased toward Chicago

What a amazing NLCS win the Cubs 5 years ago as they won the NL pennant for the first time since 1945!
I enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs more than my own Dodgers.
that game 6 could not have gone any better. they knew that was their night
I didn't watch because I was sad that the dodgers lost after folower scored

two things changed this series for the cubs
1. Gonzalez being called out in game 4
2. Russel’s 2 run home run in game 5
Logan N also Ben Zobrist’s bunt single in the 4th. Jumpstarted the cold offense
@@famguy218 Absolutely!
Logan N Gonzalez play didn’t change the series they still won 10-2!

Logan N momentum doesn’t give u 8 runs lmao
Really like these types of videos, would enjoy if you did more of these (including your other videos)
I hope 🤞the cubs win the World Series
This series was great
jansen was really dominant on these series. plz come back like this mode:(

Rizzos Game 5 Home run is definite blow to Dodgers.
Game 6*
dodgers didn’t even score so that wasn’t the deciding run

Jim Anixter. You'll also notice that very often if he's not sitting there, someone else with a pink hat will be there.
Awesome game 6.
Gonzalez was safe in game 4. Not saying the Dodgers would've won, but that was a terrible call.
It's still one of my favorite plays of the entire series. That look on his face when he is confirmed out after replay was just so damn satisfying.
Mark F. How? Everyone knew he was safe
