The Indians were lucky to have a 3-1 lead to begin with. They were only able to pull it off through the incredible pitching of the only three real starters that they had and timely hitting. They were riding high with an insane amount of momentum going into this series. In reality they were already an injury plagued team who were without their best hitter in Brantley. And they only got to the world series because their pitching carried them. The young guns showing fearless emotion when faced with certain defeat. Nothing will compare. The greatest series ever played.
That’s a good World Series option! Seems to be the best option. But another one would be Chicago and Houston for the series between the two previous champs.
It would be a great matchup for marketing. But because both teams have won World Series titles recently, I don't think it would have that much magic as it would've been in 2003 had both teams made it.

Hard to believe that teams were dismantled 5 years later, cherish the moments while they last, because you never know when your window is up. One of my favorite sports moments I have ever witnessed in my lifetime. The battle of cursed droughts, only for the Cubs to beat their curse. Truly a top 10 World Series of all time.
An interesting note here: After Bryant's HR at 10:25, the Cubs NEVER TRAILED SINCE for the rest of the series. Sure, the game may have been tied, but they either tied it or had the lead. Game 5 = They go up 3 to 0 and win the game 3 to 2. Game 6 = They go up 7 to 0 after 3 Innings. They win the game 9 to 3. Game 7 = Man, this game was a roller coaster for sure. Ross solo HR in the top of the 6th makes it 6 to 3. We all know what happened in the bottom of the 8th, let's not talk about it. The game is tied. After the rain delay, Cubs get 2 in the top of the 10th, going up 8 to 6. Indians get 1 in the bottom, but Cubs hold the win. The fact they never trailed since Game 5, is actually amazing, especially when the Cubs bullpen constantly loves to blow it. I'm glad they didn't and held on for the Win.
If Game 7 isn't THE greatest MLB game ever, it's unquestionably top 3. These highlights were fantastic but I would have also included Schwarber's hard single to lead off the 10th, followed by the most underappreciated play of the entire series: Albert Almora pinch running and tagging from 1st to 2nd on Bryant's deep flyout to center. Almora advancing to 2nd with 1 out forced Cleveland to walk Rizzo before Zobrist came up mega clutch. The Cubs 10th was OUTSTANDING team baseball.
Really forget how the Cubs were down 3-1 and down early in Game 5. They really got off the deck in retrospect. It was their time. They MADE it their time.
November 2nd, 2019! I still get chills. Feels like it happened a lot longer ago than 3 years, but at the same time it feels like it was only last week that me and my family watched the Chicago Cubs win the World Series.
I remember losing hope when we were down 3-1. I can't believe the Chicago cubs pulled it off. This video gives me chills I'll never forget being in wrigkeyville for game 7 and the city going crazy. No stupid riots, no people looting everybody was just celebrating. Unreal
Same. I was so incredibly frustrated when we went down 3-1 and was resigned to the fact that we were going to lose that series. This whole series and game seven took YEARS off my life.
Agreed - I thought the Cubs COULD come back but that they probably wouldn't. After watching their game 1, 3, and 4 lowlights, who could blame anyone for doubting?
2016 World Series was great known as the greatest comeback 3-1 in WS history but 2017 Wolrd Series was even greater known as the greatest WS in recent years In the end Both WS were Great
False. Any one that says 2017 was somehow greater than 2016 because of 1 game doesn't know what they're talking about. Game 5 2017 was f--ing amazing, but that series pales in comparison to this one. 2017 doesn't even rank second. 1) 2016 2) 2001 3) 2011 4) 1991 It's your opinion, but in would reconsider your World Series rankings.
I’m a dodger fan and I’m a little salty but I think 2016 is better because of how the rain delay in game 7, Indians blew a 3-1 lead, and how Rajai Davis tied the game with a home run, and how these two teams last World Series wins were past 50 years ago.
This moment meant more to me than my sports team winning. This series was poetry, a beautiful story that had so many unforeseen plot twists and shifts that made it what it is, in my opinion, the greatest World Series ever. And as I'm watching this in a different home, in a different time, I think to myself that everything was going to be just fine. I mean, this team hadn't won it all since 1908 and they played like it. There was no motivation in my life, at that point, and nothing like this series inspires it more. I don't care what anyone says, this series is the most beautiful sporting event out there. You can say Michael Jordan might be more iconic, but what this team represented meant far more. You can do anything.
Imagine if they had lost...how brutal 2017 and especially 2018 & 2019 would be. And 2015 when they got swept against a team they didn't lose too that season. Thank God for 2016! "And this one will last a lifetime!"
The best thing about Game 7 was the rain delay before the start of the 10th (?) inning. I cant even imagine what Cubs or Cleveland Fans must have gone through. That was an amazing thing to watch.
Joe Maddon almost lost the world series for the Cubs, so many stupid decisions. Pitched Chapman 3 innings in game 5 and then brought him back in for 2 innings in game 6 when they were leading 7-2 like what???
Indians should have won this man, still hurts to watch. Kluber and Miller put the team on their back and just dominated every game they pitched. I'll always believe this, no rain delay = Indians World Series
Is it just me or is it weird that while the Cleveland Indians blew a 3-1 lead in the World Series, the Cleveland Cavaliers came back from a 3-1 in the NBA Finals in the same year. Edit: I didn’t copy this from someone else. I didn’t know there were any other comments about it.
Am I the only person who thinks they should play 7 nine innings games and the team with the most runs at the end of the series should win? No one else, just me? Fair enough
This was 4 years ago and I’m still getting shivers. As a Cubs fan, and how we haven’t won in so long, I’m so glad we won. And I’m hoping the Indians will win one soon, because they have a no win streak of around 70-80 years.
I completely forgot that the Cubs middle and deep relief were virtually nonexistent in that series. Chapman was it. Dude threw several times over the course of the playoffs, 2+ innings. It's a wonder that he had anything at all left after being misused by Captain Stupid over and over.
Who I want to see for a World Series matchup: A's vs Braves or A's vs Rockies. I for sure want the A's to go to the World Series. They for sure deserve it and they've been playing so good. They were the underdog for a while and now they have a really good chance. And they're just really fun to watch. Mostly every game they have action. And all their players including Khris Davis, Matt Olson, and Jed Lowrie just put on a show! And I'm not even saying all of them.
7 years later and I still watch the highlights. This is easily one of the greatest World Series matchups in the history of baseball. The stories of both teams, both teams were stacked on both sides. The suspense in Game 7, the reactions from the fans, the calls from Joe Buck, just everything about this World Series was legendary. I will never forget the reaction from Rizzo.

I wanna see his reaction to his team losing the 3-1 lead
Lebron wearing a "Cleveland vs everyone" T shirt is comedy gold.
The bottom of the 9th was the scariest part of this game for me couldn’t feel my legs thinking we could get walked off...
Hey peter
@@tj-mb3fy hey
I’m a cubs fan and watching this 4 years later still make me nervous
Game 7 even now will never stop making me nervous and sweating
SAME. Even when I was watching the Series this year I nervous during game 7. The ghost of that series and game still lingers. In a good way, tho!!!
Damn Cleveland blew a 3-1 lead at home the same year the Cavs came back down 3-1 thats insane
2016 World Series was great known as the greatest comeback 3-1 in WS history
but
2017 Wolrd Series was even greater known as the greatest WS in recent years
In the end Both WS were Great
False. Any one that says 2017 was somehow greater than 2016 because of 1 game doesn't know what they're talking about. Game 5 2017 was f--ing amazing, but that series pales in comparison to this one. 2017 doesn't even rank second.
1) 2016
2) 2001
3) 2011
4) 1991
It's your opinion, but in would reconsider your World Series rankings.
This comment aged poorly.
I’m a dodger fan and I’m a little salty but I think 2016 is better because of how the rain delay in game 7, Indians blew a 3-1 lead, and how Rajai Davis tied the game with a home run, and how these two teams last World Series wins were past 50 years ago.
I think the 2017 WS is one of the worst because of the cheating trashstros
The Best world series I've ever seen
You gotta make these for more World Series... this video is so good lol
As a Cubs fan, no matter how many times I watch this game I get chills EVERY time
I love Lebron James Part of this game😆😆
Best game ever ever i v seen
A video I come back to a couple times every year
Game 7 was awesome
"And this one will last a lifetime!"
this was so weirdly managed lol
the indians blew a 3-1 lead
this cubs team was awesome
The best thing about Game 7 was the rain delay before the start of the 10th (?) inning. I cant even imagine what Cubs or Cleveland Fans must have gone through. That was an amazing thing to watch.
I can finally say the Indians threw a 3-1 lead
threw or blew? big difference ya know what i mean
Itz Ash THREW
One of the best series in a house full of Cleveland fans....great time to be a cubbie fan.
19:01 was every Cubs fans dream
Maddon really mismanaged his pitching this series.
Looking back at this as a Cubs fan. I loved this series! The Davis home run still gives me chills every time
This hurts after the rizzo trade
Top 3 World Series ever
Joe Maddon almost lost the world series for the Cubs, so many stupid decisions. Pitched Chapman 3 innings in game 5 and then brought him back in for 2 innings in game 6 when they were leading 7-2 like what???
This game much better than dodger game
3 years later🐐
Indians should have won this man, still hurts to watch. Kluber and Miller put the team on their back and just dominated every game they pitched.
I'll always believe this, no rain delay = Indians World Series
Chapman throwing 40+ was crazy in game 5
One of the greatest World Series in the history of baseball.
Not bad, but 1991 is STILL the best 🌎 World Series of all time
Watching the entire highlight reel. Reflecting back, this was probably one of the closest World Series in history
This is the best thing I’ve ever seen. I’m in tears every time!
5 years later and I still tear up everytime, never thought I’d watch them win one
Game 1: CHC 0 CLE 6
Game 2: CHC 5 CLE 1
Game 3: CLE 1 CHC 0
Game 4: CLE 7 CHC 2
Game 5: CLE 2 CHC 3
Game 6: CHC 9 CLE 3
Game 7: CHC 8 CLE 7 (10)
Great series still cant believe Cleveland lost this one
Is it just me or is it weird that while the Cleveland Indians blew a 3-1 lead in the World Series, the Cleveland Cavaliers came back from a 3-1 in the NBA Finals in the same year.
Edit: I didn’t copy this from someone else. I didn’t know there were any other comments about it.
Cubs fan here i don’t think Lindor defensive play to end the top of the 9th gets talked about as much as it should
i’ll die mad about this 😞✌️
Am I the only person who thinks they should play 7 nine innings games and the team with the most runs at the end of the series should win? No one else, just me? Fair enough
Its not a good world series without joe buck announcing, hes the best in the biz, how do people hate him😭😭😭
When Kluber got pulled in Game 1 he smiled and then it was like he remembered he wasn’t supposed to do that
14:00 the guy sliding into 2nd says "f*cking Javy" 😂
I hate watching the games the Indians won
One of the most notable comebacks in all of sports!
5 years later and still brings back memorys and make me nervous
17:23 “You have no idea how strong I really am”
This was 4 years ago and I’m still getting shivers. As a Cubs fan, and how we haven’t won in so long, I’m so glad we won. And I’m hoping the Indians will win one soon, because they have a no win streak of around 70-80 years.
The first run scored in the world series was on an 0-1 chopper to left, the last out of the series was on an 0-1 chopper to left
This never gets old
Hard to believe the Indains had the series 3:1 but lose it in game 7 4:3 Cubs win
Now a Mets title would be so good for me and my dad and mom
Not this season
As an Indians fan, this hurts
I completely forgot that the Cubs middle and deep relief were virtually nonexistent in that series. Chapman was it. Dude threw several times over the course of the playoffs, 2+ innings. It's a wonder that he had anything at all left after being misused by Captain Stupid over and over.
That game 7 was one of the most iconic games in American sports history! And that’s from an Orioles fan.
Chubby Cubs Kyle Schwarber hits different lmao
i like the cubs i hope that the cubs win the world series again
Kid Baseball Card Breaks it would be very disappointing if they didn’t.
CH Legit
*not biased a’s fan at all
CH Legit seeing the A’s in the WS would be cool but Cubs should be there too
-biased cubs fan
@@jarjarbinks4744 I'm actually a Giants fan. Lol.
@@andrewlarson7 ya Cubs and A's. That would be good! ;)
A's vs Braves for sure if the Cardinals don't make it
i’m hate saying this... but i’d rather have seen the indians win than the cavs in ‘16.
