Strasburg was on another plane in the postseason here. He really did make good on all the hype of his debut. He’s the reason the Nationals have a WS banner. He might never pitch again, but he’s earned every bit of his 250,000,000 just paying for this performance. You might think that’s crazy but his resurgence into this run has helped create a franchise that was 1.6 billion in 2018 and now is worth 2.2 billion even with 2 dismal seasons since.
I've never seen a team so loaded with pitching fail time after time, as the Dodgers always do. I guess you can't stop a team of destiny though. Well done, Nats.
I’m a Nats fan. You have no idea how many heart attacks I nearly had this past week. That being said, the Dodgers had every opportunity to win this series and not bring it to game 5. They had a chance against Max Scherzer in game 4, they went all in on a grand slam and struck out. Same thing in game two. All they needed was a base hit in the bottom of the ninth to at least tie. They went for a grand slam. Yes home runs helped us win, but part of the Nats’ success is that they succeeded with small ball. Just look at the wild card game we didn’t need Soto to hit a grand slam, and all he had to do was a single. The Dodgers, and Twins both failed because of this. It’s gonna cost either the Yankees or Astros in the ALCS. Now that being said, do I care that none of that happened and we finally killed the memes? Absolutely.
Yankees are the only team that won’t be affected by constantly going for the long ball. That team is built and fully capable of doing it. The only way they have issue is if their key players go cold like Bellinger and Seager did for the Dodgers. The Dodgers are also built for the long ball. But it doesn’t help if your super stars and MVP candidate are as cold as ice the entire series. The Nats are built for small ball. But it doesn’t help when you need to rely on the two players you have that are capable of going deep needing to do so to constantly bail you out like Rendon and Soto did this series.
@@josephhenderson5800 First challenge is often the hardest to get past. Once you get past that first hurdle, the rest of pieces just kind of fall into place.
Clayton Kershaw’s had some fine postseason outings, but he’s also had more than his fair share of dubious ones, and this one might have been the most dubiousest of all.
Thankfully the Dodgers learned from this experience in 2020. Had quite a scare though against Atlanta in the NLCS...thankfully we held our own and finally won the series (thanks to TB's Cash pulling out Blake Snell early! 😁)
Lol at Kershaw coming in during the 8th to complete the annual Choke of the Dodgers. I always find it funny when Kershaw and the fans seem stunned when back to back hitters blast 💥 baseballs into the upper decks. It’s like being stunned that water is wet.
It seemed the entire series that the Dodgers took this opportunity for granted and never took the Nats seriously. Even though they were just as good as them record-wise after the first 50 games. Even though they stole an impressive Game 2 at home and pulled off a tough blowout at home Game 4. I don't think the Dodgers ever thought they would lose this series until Kendrick hit that grand slam. That lack of urgency early on definitely doomed them.
Nope, I'm a dodgers fan since I moved to LA almost a decade ago. I've watched him every year be incredibly inconsistent in the playoffs since then as I started to watch the team. He's had every chance to finally start being what he should have always been in the playoffs, but yet again he doesn't get the job done. Game 5 of the WS two years ago told me that. I don't agree with burning his jersey and stuff, because this is more on Roberts for being moronic enough to put in someone who nowadays slowly gets into a game, and should've put the hot hand Maeda...
Same. I hate the dodgers but kershaw is one of the people I like the most. And his rough post season history says it all as well. Just sucks for him. He’s a hall of fame type of pitcher, but he just can’t get it done In the post season
Rohan Buch kershaw shit the bed but that was Roberts who ducked that up. Kershaw has been banged up and he’s getting old. Why are you even putting him out there? Why not Jansen? Why not Maeda? The dodgers wanted the nats to gear themselves and take advantage of the situation. They done fucked up.
I've watched this World Series run over and over. The one thing I noticed was the Dodgers and Astros players arrogance throughout both Series. Ya can't believe the hype.
I remember being sooo pissed this series. This should’ve been a 3 game sweep. I even nodded off game 5 because I thought they had it. Woke back up just in time for Kendrick’s grand slam lol and I went back to sleep lol
Yes well, the Dodgers beat up on a weak division. When you do that, your record might not reflect the correct degree of difficulty. Except for Marlins, every NL East team is tough, so Nats, after poor start, had to overcome tough competition. They were battle-tested, and it showed. Although I do think Roberts pitching moves were odd.
PumpkinEater69 I mean, you just simply don’t understand maybe how frustrated they are. You blame them for going mad when their team had the most wins as a team by a lot in the 2010s decade, had a three time Cy Young winner and an MVP in the face of Clayton Kershaw, 7 time straight division titles, and their best regular season in their whole franchise with 106 wins and a potential MVP candidate in Bellinger lose in the first round to the wild card nationals. They haven’t won a World Series in this span of time. Meanwhile nationals manage to get some magical chance at the wild card and win the World Series. It is very frustrating to be a Dodger fan.
What a spectacularly mismanaged game by Dave Roberts. If I were the GM of the Dodgers, I would have fired his ass the next day. Mark my words: so long as he remains at the helm, the Dodgers will not win the World Series. He's another Dusty Baker: knows how to manage a 162-game regular season really well, but doesn't understand how to shift gears in October.
Tbh, it seemed neither team wanted to win this series. Rendon and Soto essentially carried the Nats on their back offensively. Why was Suzuki still in the starting lineup when he’s still hitless after now 6 games in the postseason! (Hope the ball to the face isn’t too serious of course, but he shouldn’t have been in to start with he’s bone cold) While Roberts doesn’t understand leaving someone out there that’s reliable. He leaves Maeta in the game Nats don’t get back to back Homer’s. Kershaw is known for going missing in the post season. And the moment Kelly started to show signs of problems he should have brought Jansen in. Neither team wanted team wanted to win it, but someone had to. Now, let’s hope the Nats can get things firing in the NLCS!
