What I really hope they put in is an option toggle to simply being unable to hit non-combattants at all. With that on, you can never deal any damage to non-combattant, and thus don't have to worry about accidentally going corrupted (also fixes corruption baiting). I just don't want to worry about going corrupt through some jank obscure mechanic i'm not aware of and then lose hard-acquired gear. Corruption should be a deliberate act. Second wish: you should be able to go Combattant/Purple on demand, without having to attack anyone. Simply so you can walk around the world and be like "come and get it" if people want to pick a fight for whatever reason, they can attack you and go purple themselves, and nobody gets corruption since both parties opted into it. Third wish: If a red attacks you as a non-combattant, you can fight back without going purple (that was bugged last weekend, but as of notes, is working like this now as intended). That should also be the case to anyone who attacks you as a non-combattant, whether red or not. If I get attacked by a green/purple (green going purple), then I should be able to defend myself from the aggresor(s) without going purple and then everyone can pile on me without any consequence. And whether you fight back or not, the aggressor should go corrupt if they kill you. The whole point of corruption is to have consequences for attacking non-combattants, it makes no sense that if they drop a CC on you to get away or whatever, that they are now free kills to everyone.
To fix corruption baiting just make it where AOE skills do not hit unflagged targets. If someone is flagged only direct damage skills can hit unflagged players, as to raid flagging have that as a setting the raid lead sets, with a pop up on accepting invite that says "This raid/party is set to combatant, joining will force you into combatant status, are you sure?"
@@CrixGuides Is my solution perfect, hell no but its a good starting point and something to aim for. Putting agency into the hands of the players is always a good thing when it comes to games.
Steven said this is how they plan to do this, but they haven't implemented the system in the Alpha. He said this years ago. He's thought this through thankfully.
@danialmoser2573 no way. absolutely not. the way corruption is designed, it just means guilds have the ability to clear their own stacks. You need even more insurance to get your stuff back? sounds super beta, and against the entire premise of the system. there is really only one fair way to deal with the loot. it should only be able to be picked up by the person who died, or, the person who killed them. Also, noone who was in your guild within the last week should be able to clear your stacks of corruption.
Wer're finally getting a system where there are no safe spaces from PvP while encouraging people to not gank. It would be nice if they gave a stat debuff if you engage in dishonorable combat (jumping people, attacking people at low HP / while fighting mobs / bosses, or killing players significantly lower level than you.
Except for killing someone much lower lvl then you, I don't think rest of these should be controlled or moderated cus they have tactical aspects and even though they may be bad manners but they give you the real feel of danger. It can not be all rainbows and unicorns in a pvx mmo
Current issue in existing system. If you are green and are attacked, you MUST MANUALLY flag to pvp to defend yourself. AOEs Should not hit any green, period. Groups and raids should require the same flag status. Fix: make an ORANGE status that maintains the green "no splash damage" status but allows for self defense without having to change the flag manually. If orange, you will not gain corruption for killing orange, purple, or red. This is a I don't want to pvp rt now but will if you attack me. Orange debuff, if you start a fight while orange, you immediately go red with max corruption punishment. Orange AoEs will not hit any player unless attacked or targeted by purple or red player. I call it the 2A self defense flag.
You can alt + f4 as soon as you get corruption, then unequip your gear when you relog. At least that worked for me when I accidently got corrupted in town.
During final week of spot testing a few of the major guilds were complaining corruption was too harsh, so for A2 Steven upped the loss. So, to me at least, it seems like he was sending a direct response message to their complaints. LOL /edit yes, I know Steven said he did it for A2, but I really don't think that's 100%
Kind of weird that the corruption baiting is even a thing. There was plenty of discussion of this kind of issue at least a year ago or even more. Either the devs weren't aware or just ignored it. The unflagging during combat seems very weird too since I've never known any MMO that didn't have a cooldown to unflagging once you're in combat. I get that it's an alpha but you would think one of the devs would have thought of this as an issue while designing the initial system and if they had had any experience at all with PvP in MMORPGs.
Can rangers hide there corrupted/flagged name with their invisibility ability? I see a lot of issues with spys, insiders (enemy alts) who could flag whole team.

@@CrixGuides Thats one thing im so confused at how its a fucking thing in Ashes. Given that in L2, if you target a flagged player you dont have to ''force attack'' the target to fight back.
