Okay Rachel, you've tried spending less than five minutes on your hair. Now for a real challenge... Do your hair with only three bobby pins. I'd suggest a zero pin challenge but I don't want to torment you lol
When I had long hair I had a hairstyle that I could do with no pins OR elastics. It was just a bun, but it requred a specific way of twisting my hair. So you can do a lot without pins, but oh, how many beautiful alternatives I have learned since Learning to use a million bobby pins.
@@meamela9820 My hair has quite an odd texture, it just like *stays* ,whenever I put it somewhere (I'm assuming it's because it's curly and very dry+frizzy haha) it just stays there lol
watching rachel do this reminds me of my newfound hobby of telling my dad how many bobby pins are in my hair and watching him become deeply disturbed. it's very amusing. highly recommend
"Couple of quick rolls" and here's me, trying to make them look acceptable for half an hour before throwing away the bobby pins and goin with the usual
SocietyNeedsToCrumble Yes lol 😂 Actual braided hair-earmuffs like Leia’s we’re actually quite common in the 1920’s. Especially for conservative girls and women who didn’t want to cut their luscious Edwardian hair 😂 (AKA me when I dress 1920s lolll)
I love watching vintage hair stuff. My hair is natural, so I like seeing how people get these fantastic styles. Maybe one day I will try to style them even with my...super curly hair lol.
Mortis Speaks don’t discourage yourself! There are some tutorials out there specifically for natural hair, I’m sure you can nail these styles! Here’s a specific tutorial for coily/kinky if that helps: ua-cam.com/video/4g5MJgz9JNU/v-deo.html
For the snood, here is a tip. Use a hair net first then add the snood over it. The hair net helps to keep stray hair from popping out of the snood. I am so going to do a couple of these hair styles for sure! My number one favorite is the turban and braids. To help when doing rolls when you have bangs, run a bit of pomade over the length of hair to help make the shorter hairs roll together better.
I love the lighting at the end of the video when you're done and talking about the styles. It makes a nice soft background that makes it really enjoyable to watch.
Thank you for always making vintage style accessible! I watched a ton of you tubers and you were legit the first one where I was like “ohhh I can do this! She looks amazing but it’s not like....3 hours a day!”

Whenever people ask me for channel recommendations, Rachel always ends up being the first one I force them to look up, and no i dont plan on changing that
If ever you need a heavier duty hair net I suggest you look for equestrian hair nets. I didn’t know you could get a hair net as fine as the one you showed, since I ride I have always used a horse one. They have small ones for buns and big ones for your full hair, but you definitely see it since it is a way thicker weave (which is good for me since my hair would probably rip the thinner one with it’s weight).
honestly scarves have revolutionised the way i think about doing period/vintage hair! my hair is less than 4 inches at its longest point (my fringe) but styles 4 & 5 work surprisingly well with my incredibly modern clipper cut
Perfect. This is just the time to experiment with ALL the vintage looks! I usually go 40s-50s but today I decided to go full Edwardian for no discernible reason. Tomorrow I’ll try the mini milkmaid braids! Thank you Rachel 💕 You give me life!

As I was sure it would, the hat is STUNNING on you. Perfect with the hairstyle ! Also, this goes straight into my faves. I need to recreate them all !!
Thank you for the faux bangs with the swirl on the side! I haven't seen anything like it on here or even anywhere and it looks like a great second or even third day thing to do that leaves plenty of options for styling in the back. I love how clean it is and that you don't need to cover up anything because there is nothing to cover up about it. Bumper bangs do get old.
These are so cute, and look simple to do for beginners. My siblings and I, are having a 1950s style picnic and Ive been trying to find hairstyles to practice. Than you for posting these, and others! Truly beautiful hairstyles.
I wish my hair wasn't so thin. It just has no substance so anything I try to do falls out or looks flat. I've tried doing rolls but it just never holds. These hairstyles looked really beautiful though!
Same T^T mine is very fine and fairly thin. It’s hard to do anything with it. If I’m planning on putting my hair up, I use the batiste volumizing dry shampoo and that helps. I don’t like it at all for leaving my hair down because I can’t even get my fingers through my hair when I use it. But it works pretty well for achieving some of the victorian/edwardian inspired styles I like to do. Maybe check it out :)

One thing that makes me feel better about my very frizzy hair- look at the photos of the time. A lot of the women still had plenty of frizz and flyaways. So, it’s authentic.

I accidentally have the same hair cut as her because I wanted cute bangs but I have curly hair! Finding this channel was a blessing you have so many hair videos and now I can make many hairstyles thank you💗
Nice to see how long it actually takes to make things, when you learn how to do them. This video made me really long for my hair to grow out (cut my hair in a 20s bob style 1½ years ago, and now I am growing it out to the waistlenght it was before. takes a long time.) So many ideas to save for the future! I suppouse I could use my hair extensions, but then I would have the problem you had with the bangs in the victory rolls, all over my hair...
I loved the idea of quick hair-dos. I think folks avoid vintage hairstyles because of the amount of teasing too. So this was great to see quick versions without all that bird nest in you hair!!
I LOVE the 5th one! I decided to try it out but I have very minimal experience doing hair like this. I think at my first attempt, I spent 5 minutes just parting my hair, and that's as far as I got! Second attempt worked, but I definitely need a lot more practice.
my anxiety has been keeping me up but it's ok because everyone's been publishing beautiful content as of late and it's making the insomnia a thousand times more bearable
I would love to see a video where you try to put together vintage outfits to match modern aesthetics... like cottage core, dark/light academia, for a bit more of a challenge you could do a vintage e girl, vsco girl, baddie, 'granola', I think it would be fun!
I bought Bobby pins the other day to try and recreate some of your up dos as I've been growing my hair for a year and half and it's finally past my shoulders. Perfect timing!!!
Love the video! Doing my hair/makeup each day has kept a form of structure in my routine. Eventhough no one might see it, it still feels nice to look nice. I will probably will try a few of these💖 also thank you for being honest about that you were not sure this would take under five actual minutes. Not only is it truthful about the actual timing for a quick hairstyle but also that you have a specific level of skill and therefore speed for the ones you picked. It is a good reminder that things will only be a 5-minute-routine if you have done something before or something similar. the first time I tried winged eyeliner it took me forever and still hated how it looked 😂 now it takes me 1 whole minute and everyone says: you make it look so easy. Practice makes everything easier and perfect! The first one I will try out is the 4th look, that seems smart for greasy days!

Watching this before a test has me both relaxed - because Rachel, but also stressed because the timer is constantly reminding me of the test😅
I loved the idea of quick hair-dos. I think folks avoid vintage hairstyles because of the amount of teasing too. So this was great to see quick versions without all that bird nest in you hair!!
Gonna try all these! Great video again! Favourite part of my week. Loved the magical appearing Frodo!
Ugh you are hopelessly gorgeous and have the perfect look for these styles
That was absolutely amazing!! Please do more hair tutorials they are my favorite!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️ sending hugs!
these are so cute 😅 wtf! the middle green scarf tutorial is something i’m going to have to try immediately ** thank you for this content 🥰
Love this! I especially love the use of Snoods, crochet my own Snoods and I rarely see variations on how to style with them
The braids + turban style is such a neat idea! x
I would love to see a video where you try to put together vintage outfits to match modern aesthetics... like cottage core, dark/light academia, for a bit more of a challenge you could do a vintage e girl, vsco girl, baddie, 'granola', I think it would be fun!
your channel always feels so cozy
Oh my Godess that hat is gorgeous!!!! I wish I had Rachel where I live. Your obviously the friend that every girl needs.
You're too sweet 😭😭😭
I bought Bobby pins the other day to try and recreate some of your up dos as I've been growing my hair for a year and half and it's finally past my shoulders. Perfect timing!!!
Oh my gods, I want a snood now. Off to check Ravelry for knitted or crocheted ones.
Every time I watch one of your videos you have about a thousand subscribers more. And that’s almost daily. You deserve it Rachel! ❤️❤️❤️
Wow a new video of Rachel! Imam always having the bell activated for my favorite youtubers. You are one of them.
Aww thank you love! 😭❤️
Your smug face after you get each look done with time to spare is my favorite ❤ lmao
