Bruh.... I legit tried doing something like this the other day and I ended up looking like Professor Quirrell...
Kacie Curtis this got me 😂😂😂
Just go around telling people there is a troll in the dungeon and you thought they ought to know.
@@BuffytheRealSlayer Send halp, can't breathe... I'm killed by laughter. 😆😅😂 🆘
I actually chocked on my cereal 😂😂😂
@@BuffytheRealSlayer Okay, now I have to do this! 😃
Unironically, I'm about a year late to Rachel being a year late to this trend.
lmao same!
Lol always 😂
Same :))
Lmao same
*awkward wave in the background* me
"Mine doesn't look like her's...but she's a witch, so." I cackled!!
🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️😂
I did too!.😂 I'm a practicing witch and this video is witch approved lol.
You cackled... like a witch
Ironically, I just made it 666 likes😂
Me watching any of these videos whatsoever...
You're one fancy turban away from being able to hide Lord Voldemort on the back of your head!!
All he needed was a lil flower in his!
Okay, now I'm wheezing with laughter!
And after that 11 year old boy boy from catching on fire
NeeliaYna
Well.. Voldemort must be holding that turban with his teeth, cause there's no way I can make that hold still.
Wear a hijab and boom! Voldemort hidden. That's why I wear one 😏
I love how little instruction they give. “Just take the scarf and do the thing!! There’s nothing easier in the whole wide world!!!!!”
Except spending money
This is also how many cubing tutorials work
😂😂
So girls have been wearing cat ears since the 40s, aight.
Safety too during WW2 ..kept hair away from machinery :)
True!!
Tbh women back in the day probably had the same issues watching vintage fashion tutorials
Right? And they couldn't even pause or rewind them either 😂😂
Not only no pause or rewind - they were watching in the movie house! Can you picture a theatre filled with ladies doffing their hats and trying these scarf arrangements?
@@rachelmaksy Oh my god, I was just about to reply Maddie the same... 😁
I had the most wholesome image of a group of friends in the 40s giggling as they try and fail to recreate this tutorial
This seriously had me laughing the whole time! “There’s nothing easier in the whole wide world except for spending money” 😂 gotta love 40’s voiceover. Also I know the feeling about those darn roots I dye my hair red but I’m a blonde 😬 I was editing some videos and was like oh my stars 🥺 my roots look like poop
YUP I feel you 😂😂😂😂❤️
I have dark auburn, and dye my hair closer to a fiery red. So I feel the pain xD LOLOL
Do your roots look lighter then the rest of your hair? I never saw a lighter hair dyed repeatedly darker, so i never saw '' light '' roots irl
@@Neseine I grew up when Emo got popular, so as well as for rock and punk, there were lots of young people around me that would dye their hair super dark/black, especially if they had light hair naturally. Before finishing college, a couple friends decided to grow out their natural hair colour together in solidarity, so for like a year they each had dyed black hair with a slowly growing shock of pale blonde roots 😂 We all thought it was funny, and before they got to university they were able to chop off the dyed parts LiKe iT nEveR hApPenEd 😁
I particularly like the disapproving tone and subtle sexism in that spending money comment. Some things, I am glad I missed out on.
I wish I had that old timey accent like the commentator guy. Where did that accent go, and how did it get washed out so quickly that you never heard it after the 1950s?
I wonder about that too!! 😂😂
It's a trans-atlantic accent, which was created in the early years of radio and film to help homogenize the accents of American and British actors. It was definitely a sign of a fancy trained actor/actress, but it quickly fell out of favor and became dated because no one actually spoke in that accent in real life. It's very much a product of the time haha
@@katelynjacobi1289 So good to know that it was only for film and radio! I've always wondered why my grandparents didn't talk like Jimmy Stewart.
Katelyn Jacobi You beat me to it!
@@katelynjacobi1289 so it's like the McDonald's ads in here it's British accent but it sounds smoother than anybody else's but it has an iconic voice acting to make it recognisable and better marketing.
"It's the easiest thing in the whole wide world" reminds me of simply nailogicals "it's not a problem anymore"
_It'S nOt A pRoBLem AnYmOrE!_ I totally agree! 😸💿 #holo
#2 with some big gaudy earnings, rings, 1930s silk robe, and a long cigarette holder and you will become Lady Masky, mysterious widow from the haunted manor. 🕷🕸🔮
😂😂😂👻👻
#LifeGoals ! 😂👌🏻
We will not tell her husband about this development.
Ahh yes, the gaudy earnings -- I predict an imminent windfall of those, which will enable the purchase of the silk robe and cigarette holder. Next step, the Norma Desmond mansion with pool and creepy butler.
Lol best comment ever
Did you try one of their makeup videos? They are equally good. Please post more struggle :)
Not yet but I'd love to give those ones a go too 😍
Yesss please
Oh my word!!! Without being repetitive. ... You are simply adorable and a pleasure to watch. Your sense of humor and style is captivating. So glad you're a full time UA-camr.
Awww Heehee thank you so much!
All I could think of with the second one in the 40s video was Maid Marion from the cartoon version of Robin Hood 😂 the first one was cute tho!
Omg yes!!! 😂🦊
All I could think about was Stitch wearing Nani’s bra and pretending to be Batman during the credits of Lilo and Stitch.
The Cuban Pete cut away at the end killed me 😂😭
🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺
Was waiting for the conga line
i reminded me of i love lucy so i got up and shouted "they calllll me sally sweet"
8:10 how could you not react to that mans hiccup!?!? xD
“So sorry pretty isn’t it?” I love how cool he plays it as if nothing happened. Surely, you couldn’t have edited out in those days
Late af, but I noticed Rachel looking into the camera and shaking her head smiling at that.
Also I'm pretty sure him doing that was just a continuation of saying he'd go to the pub real quick (see if my watch is right by the clock of the green dragon), as a joke. It's just a silly "Tee-hee I'm back from the pub, oops I'm still a little tipsy!" bit.
“There’s nothing easier in the whole wide world..." Ouch, I felt the heat off of that burn.
The moment the scarves are practically tied around your face and you say "help" is literally me everytime I try any scarf tutorial or hair tutorial. Nothing ever works or stays in place... :D
It's not just me!
Ooh boy and i thought braids were impossible
😂😂😂😂
Wait African braids (ones that starts at the roots and it's either smaller or thick) or Western plaits (like French plait or plaits that has a different patter technique than braids)? Just making sure cuz people now calling plaits braids and I go 🤦🤦🤦 😂
@@pachioni7943 does it really matter?
Thank you for not being a screaming You-Tuber! You are so calming & enjoyable!
Love the last one with some pink scarves
Ooo yes!
"Just watch the operation while we nip out to see if our watch is right with the clock of the green dragon." Wtf? Was that an actual saying or was this man on absinthe?
Those layers of chocolate though nice willy wonka reference lol :D
He hiccuped when he came back so it definately seems like he went out for a sip of something
@@BannanaOnFloor The basic sentiment is that he needed an excuse to go to the pub! In this case, checking if their watch is on time with the clock in the pub (when actually they're grabbing a cheeky pint), while the viewer continues to watch the tutorial. No clue if this is a common saying (as a Brit I've never heard it before) but I imagine the basic formula is very common!
As another man, and one who lived through those times, albeit as a young boy, I would hazard a guess that the remark about checking one's watch at the pub was nothing more or less than a wisecrack which he felt it was necessary to make to assert the fact that he felt it slightly demeaning to be associated with what was purely a female concern. Chauvinism was absolutely the normal attitude at that point in time. It should also be made clear to present day people that NO that was not a common Brit expression but was a more or less original comment to show how witty he was and at the same time appear self-deprecating which was also an important thing to do if one wanted to be identified as a macho man.
Other comments here call into question the man's accent. This was more or less standard BBC English which was actually an artificial construct. One supposes that such a standardization was necessary at a time when there were a host of regional accents and dialects, to the extent that people from widely separated parts of the country could often have great difficulty understanding one another. The BBC construct, with its peculiar vowels was also designed to sound ' posh ' ; and this would make what was being said more authoritative.
🤣
Lol
Yaasss! Thank you for more 40s content!❤️
😊😊😊😊
Wonderful, this is how I feel with EVERY hair tutorial. Many times my husband has to help be undo my up-do.
Blurring out your roots!! hahahahaha!!! That had me laughing so hard! Loved this video. The struggle WAS worth it!
Vintage head wraps and scarves are right up my alley!!!! Woohoo!!!! Fancy fancy fancy!!!
Just when I think it can't get any funnier, you roll your bloopers. Loved it the whole way through. Love those old Pathe clips. You did such a great job. I just watched the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on Netflix and loved the costumes. Might have even been a turban. I will have to rewatch it now.
I just thought I'd mention in passing. I've been wearing a headscarf since I was ye high and I still can't get it right. Hats off (or should I scarves off? Aaaanyhoo) to you for being light years better than me...... ㅎ ㅡ ㅎ
Havent even watched yet but i KNOW this is gonna be soooo helpful! Thank you for the time and effort you put into this video, as you do with every video, im sure its going to be amazing!
After : I WAS CORRECT! Quality video, as always! That first look was so beautiful and totally suited you 😍 great work girl!
Heehee thank you so much my love ❤️❤️❤️
I can imagine Professor Quirrell watching these wondering which one would be best to hide Voldy.
The rolled up one had me full-on CACKLING.
You may be late to the trend, but I don’t think anyone did a 1940s hair turban tutorial!! On that last one, I think she used straight pins, not bobby pins? I mean like the sharp pokey kind?
I laughed so hard at "pray for me"😂
This particular video I watch over and over again. It gives my soul piece.
This channel is the perfect combination of vintage content and memes 😂 Subscribed!
Loved the first look and will definitely use it myself. Finally a new use for a pile of scarves that I hardly wear. I must admit I did have a chuckle while you struggled, but I know that I would fair no better...it was witchcraft. Not the easiest thing in the world. hahaha
Hahaha it definitely was witchcraft, no other explanation 😂😂😂
Rachel, I just want you to know: I will always watch the ads for you ❤️
Anne same
SAAAAAAME girl!
Her pop culture and movie references are always so on point.
Remember... the woman in the 1940s didnt have a pause or rewind button.
They basically watched the clip and had to memorize the instructions.
I honestly love your videos, your unique personality and candor!
The "blooper" vids afterwards are fantastic!! 🥰
"Mine definitely doesn't look lik hers, but... she's a witch."
This is the quality content I signed up for! I love that voiceover man and I need him in my everyday life. I think you did exceptionally well for copying a witch!
I was thinking 'Ooooh new Rachel video on the wrong day, huh?' Then realise it's a 5 YEAR old video that was on my suggestion list. Then the next suggested one was from 6 years ago! No idea what youtube is up to today, but I'm going to be watching old Rachel videos today by the looks of things. YAAAAY!
I love them! So cute! Thanks Rachel! ☺️
The first one was pretty good....but even the original from the 40s was hideous when it came to the bra-head!!! "help" ROFL

“Oh my gosh, she looks like the guy from-“
“I look like the guy from Little Nicky.”
I loved this video Rachel! ❤ You always brighten my day.
I just love everything about this video! I think you nailed it!
I seriously was dry heaving laughing for 15 min with the little Nicky reference 😂😂😂😂
YAY! A new video!! It’s perfect, because I’m home 🤒 sick. Gettin comfy and watching ✨
Feel better bb!!! ✨✨✨✨
Rachel Maksy Thank you! You had me cracking up when you pulled out the large scarf!!! They came out great though!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💖💖💖✨✨✨
I wanna see more of this. I've watched this three times over the months since I started watching you, and this is legit one of the most interesting fashion tutorials you've done.
I'm rewatching this video and oh my goodness it made me crack up even harder than the first time. I love the editing!
Ah British pathe always useful for this kind of stuff, man the tutorial is hard to follow. I just love the man’s accent and voice!
If there isn’t a Frau Blücher joke, imma be mad.
Aw no Frau Blücher joke. 😂😂
Hahaha oh NOOo missed opportunity 😂😂

@@thegreylionessreads2230 😎 thank you!
You are always SO fun to watch!
Loved it!!! You did so well. This video gave me new ideas for my hair look.
Lol. Head scarfs are difficult to work within my experience, maybe the ones I used were just too smooth and slippery? But I think you did a good job. That one with the fold had me do a double take. HoW dId ShE dO tHaT?
I clicked faster than Dobbie ever could when disappearing on Harry Potter scenes.
Hehehhehehehe
I've seen this tutorial years ago when I was first getting into vintage styling, and totally forgot about them.
Thanks for reminding me about this video. I am so going to add these to my go to vintage hair styles.
Love this video!!! When I attempted the tuckerino style I had pretty much the exact same problems, but you really made the other styles work!
Also I feel blessed, Rachel videos two days in a row 💕
"There is nothing easier in the whole wide world...except spending money !" Oh, hello Mr. Sexism, i didnt see you there lol
Indeed
Honestly that one statement is pretty gender neutral, at least out of context.
@@taritangeo4948 yeah I thought he meant it in general.
@@taritangeo4948 in this case it is definately sexist. There are several remarks along those lines in those videos
He never said men couldn't spend money easily 🤣
Love this! I want to try these looks. Where did you get your head scarves?
Thank you love!! The two new ones were from Amazon and then the two brown/tan ones are from thrift stores!
@@rachelmaksy Thanks!
I LOVE your back lighting when showing the finished hairdo. And I love videos like this, maybe material for a series. Following vintage tutorials.
Very fun and I love your blouse!
Narrator was a little condescending ( to me at least ). This was the 40s Lol. I liked your last one the best. The folds remind me of a scarf barrette I got years ago but it was navy and I still have it . Only wore it once.
Of course he was, this was the time of ads telling women quite literally that they have to buy (insert here), or else they'll STINK and no one will ever marry them. The whole beauty business was - and to this day still is - founded on shaming women into doing/buying something.
I have that very same scarf barrette, but in red! It's been lurking in a basket for decades but I'mma bust it out now and attach it to the front of a scarf turban. Vindication for hoarding shall be sweet!
Notification squad !♥️🙌🏻
😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
The second one with thicker scarves looks brilliant! I love it
You are seriously sooooo adorable! I love you, your channel with every fiber of my being!!! So glad your doing this full time now! Keep it up, your amazing at this!!!

I just finished the last season of The office on Netflix so I'm sad... But this helps. 😊
Ach, condolences! That’s a sad moment. But now turn around and just start it right over from the beginning. (That’s what we do. 😜👍🏻)
Wicked Hazel I think ill do that, and this time the whole Jim /Pam thing won't be as frustrating cause i know how it turns out 😉haha

Us women right?! We sure do know how to spend a mans cash. That commentator had jokes.
Great video! I adore your asides and music clips! Wrapunzel has some amazing tips for making turbans go from wizardry to absolutely doable!
This is glorious! All of your references had me dying! Definitely the content I signed up for. Much love.
This is amazing! That old video is hilarious, and your versions are really good! I definitely think the right kind of scarf is key. You look good in anything vintage, even chocolate drizzles on your head.
Girl I loved the last one
You rocked it!
I'm so in love with your voice! it's so relaxing
I just love your channel! I don't even do vintage (I wish I had the confidence tho) but this is so funny and entertaining to watch. For someone who can barely stand to spend time around other human beings I just love your quirky ways and the type of videos you make :) I just wanted to thank you for existing and helping to make my life a little brighter as I was either smiling or laughing throughout this whole video
I’m gonna try that last one, it looks incredible!
This is so funny!!! You actually did a really good job- your videos are always relaxing to watch even when you’re being silly- you’re never overdramatic, it’s really refreshing and nice 👍🏻
How perfect! I was just wondering how to wear my hair today! As always Rachel, you killin it!!!
This was so fun! I enjoyed watching you do them and have been inspired to try some of my own!
