Here's a tip: if you want a dusty rose colour without shimmer, look at blushes. They're usually also not quite as pigmented as eyeshadows, but the colour can be built up if you want more depth in certain parts

Often the easiest way to get Matt colour is to find a brand which sell there pans without cases. Mac and colour pop are the ones which come to mind, they seem to be better at having true mattes. Those I will say my Matte browns were bought as eye brow powder.

Mascara was originally a 19th century men's cosmetic for darkening facial hair. In the Victorian and Edwardian eras, many women, especially actresses, made their own mascara of burnt cork, or India ink. The colouring agent in all of these substances is carbon. The natural shellac in the India ink made it waterproof---a definite asset when one is perspiring under hot stage lights.

if you are paying close attention, there's beautiful camera work, great music and often sounds, the captions can be endlessly entertaining, not to mention Bernadette's wonderful way of speaking, and of course some great laughs along the way both in what she says and the occasional meme on screen.
if you're listening but not watching, things are explained clearly so you'll never get lost in the sauce, the music is perfectly balanced with her voice so you'll be able to enjoy it while still getting info, and the sounds are asmr worthy.
if you want something to fall asleep to, that also works. most of the videos are consistent in a fairly low energy which is perfect to relax to, there's not too much going on to shock you out of sleepyness, there's just enough going on to keep part of your brain paying attention though.

The same goes for That Dang Dad- his voice is very soft and soothing, but his topics are too depressing.

That's so cool to see people being excited about gradual greying! 😁 I was super-excited when I noticed my first grey hair too; it felt like a life milestone! Have always considered grey/silver hairs to be like great natural highlights in someone's hair, and full grey as so dignified. Always feels rather sad when people are super obsessed about hiding it all with intense dyeing? I can understand where it comes from though, with women's aging having been seen as a negative thing for so long.

My no. 1 priority in mascara is specifically that it can be removed with warm water; that way it doesn’t melt at the slightest moisture, but it also doesn’t require makeup remover to get off. The less time I need to spend taking off makeup at the end of the day, the better! 😅

Clinique is great for this! I have the silver one (I don't know what it's called), and after literal *years* of searching, it's the best mascara ever. I have very long, thick, curly lashes, and normal mascaras make me unable to blink because it itches against my eyelids. Clinique is wayyy expensive, but if you make sure to close your mascara completely every single time, and store it in a cool place, it lasts forever.

The most natural look I get is with Rimmel London Wonder'Full Extreme Black. I find it ridiculously expensive, but it gives me much better result than the cheaper ones. I absolutely never have clumbs or sticky lashes, the argan oil nourishes my lashes (they are lovely long now) and the colour matches my lash colour well. On the down side, I cannot get it off even with remover and depending on the weather I look like a panda midway through the day.
Always a challenge to find one that works for you. Good luck!

Love the hair so much! 💛💛Pro tip for future bobby pinning if you wish to try it! If you keep the short side of the pin underneath, without pulling it apart you insert then weave up and down like a sewing needle your hair will be much more secure. Opening the pin will actually stretch it out and make it less functional over time where hair can more easily fall out or you feel like you need more pins to keep it in place. 💛💛

Bernadette says the most obvious things in such an eloquent way that I can't help but listen and learn from her wisdom:
    - there are no rules as to how much or how little makeup one puts on one's face
    - the whole point of it all is to feel good about ourselves and empower us in our daily battles against our worst enemies (in my case, my own attempts at self-sabotage)
    - I actually CAN put on makeup everyday, I just have to get up and do it already

What a lovely and relaxing video. I've been doing my hair as a variation of your Victorian inspired hair tutorial for more than a year now and you've really inspired me to wear my hair in older styles and I absolutely love it.

I understand wanting the historically accurate hairstyle-but girl you have such gorgeous hair to leave down and long. Love your videos.

As a long haired person I will say that leaving it down is super annoying. I lean forward and it covers my face and I cannot see. I sit back and it gets caught in my armpits or between me and the furniture and pulls. It gets incredibly tangled. It gets massively static in the winters. One day I put a half up/half down do through several outings getting in and out of my winter coat. The next day it took an hour to detangle as it has literally turned into a massive mat. So I put it up unless I just washed it and it needs to dry.

Long hair flowing loose can be aesthetic AF, but it can also fall into your face, stick to your lip gloss, tickle your neck, and develop astonishing tangles. I had waist-length hair in high school, and my answer to this question always boiled down to, "It's uncomfortable."

Alternative titel for this video: young Minerva Macgonagal getting ready for a day in Hogwarts.
And I love every bit of that vibe 😍😍😍

I swear to you there's a Minerva MacGonnagall comment on every one of Bernadette's videos. I am surprised she hadn't made an official Minerva look yet.

Wow, great video. I love how you say 'you do you'. Thank you. I love to learn what other people do and try to apply the techniques how it will work for me. And you home is lovely! I love how you have organized your new space. And it is good to see your Furball companion!

I am relieved to see that I'm not the only one wearing my historically inspired corset underneath my everyday clothing (which is also evolving to be rather late Victorian/early Edwardian). And now I can practice my hair style even better. Thank you
