This is an episode of the short-lived ABC martial arts series "Sidekicks" starring Ernie Reyes, Jr. and Gil Gerard of Buck Rogers fame. Police Sergeant Jake Rizzo is chosen by a wise old master (Keye Luke) to mentor his grandson Ernie, who is the last heir to an ancient martial art.
Ernie's special talents make him a local celebrity and land him as the opening act for El DeBarge, but both he and Jake have trouble coping with Ernie's newfound fame.
