really liking how he looks terrified of his own drumming like "how the hell am i playing this right now"
lmaooooooo
XD
I lol'd. Thank you.
KKKKKKKKKKKKK lmao, very true
Hilarious, and 69th like lets go
Brutal AF 🔥
brother i still watch this 7 years later insane.
8 years and we still here🤘
Still here
Insanity
9 lol
I will ask him three simple questions:
1- How do you come up with your parts?
2- How do you remember every hit and precision?
3- Are you a robot from the future?
1 - experience evolves creativity
2 - muscle memory and ear memorization
3 - classified
Emanuel Costa If he is a robot from the future (which he is), then the answers are easy: 1.) He sees them before they're ever created; 2.) He doesn't remember them--he sees them 30 seconds ahead; 3.) Yes
+RingzOfCarnifex best answer
Studing
Emanuel Costa lol
This guy is an robot octupus built to show us humans what it is to be a monster at drums.
Rui Carneiro Chris Turner: the 2 armed robot octopus
***** I bet he will appear on the new Terminator movie
Rui Carneiro What octopus has 2 arms?
+Mark Torres that octopus
Guess we'll never see a video titled
"Oceans ate Alaska-high horse. Drum cover"
Then
Joseph Cottrell lol I'm working on it😂
ua-cam.com/video/_74dsukGjIE/v-deo.html
@@theskateboardt619 lmao where
There's a guy called Jeremie Gonzalez who's done a cover of Vultures and Sharks and its quite tight! 🙂
Haha you got that right
This guy used more techniques in one song than me in my entire drumming career...
😂
Same.... whew!
How does he compose and remember that song? It's fucking incredible
He doesn't actually play these exact parts on the studio version. But none the less, this is quite the impressive demonstration of his talent.
That Metric Modulation at the 2:10 - 2:21 is gorgeous!
Funny faces aside, I've never seen somebody play such amazing parts while simultaneously looking like he learned how to play drums last week haha. Pretty sweet though!
"Looking like he learned how to play drums last week" - Literally burst out laughing at that, hahaha. That's one way you could put it!
Spirit box drummer
Was I the only one who thought that that fast part with the mini-china at 0:28 was hilarious?
Nope. Just went to see it and i am pissing myself
Rui Carneiro He seems to do a roll with that mini china and his left foot on the hi-hat, 1) thats a funky feeling motion to try at that speed haha, 2) i don't know exactly what cymbals he has, or how he has the mic'd, but my mini china and hats certainly don't sound that pleasing
Rui Carneiro I just laughed so hard
Rui Carneiro I just laughed so hard
+Rui Carneiro This part CANNOT be done with both arms :P
You know he just secured his position for life. They cant fire him even if they wanted to lol no one else can play the drums for this album XD amazing drummer!!
the changeup within the changeup after 2:08 is the most orgasmic drumming ive ever heard
He's probably so good because of all the souls he ate
Cassandra Herron I tried to scroll past this comment without liking it but failed
@@Tbrous4 as did 95 other people
Propably the third option. I can confirm now
the most hilarious part is that he records all the song in a very few takes, sometimes even at the first take. fuckin' incredible
Chris was a beast since I first heard him on Lost Isles, but now he has actually improved. How that is even possible, I don't know. He is smoother and more relaxed. Amazingly, he has further perfected his technique. Good on ya, mate.
Also, that lick at 2:24. Fuggin nuts. Can’t really even hear that in the song over the singer but he throws it in to match a sick beat to someone yelling get off your high horse. Mad respect.
This man's drumming literally gives me chills😂It's blasphemous to be this good
The blast beats, one handed rolls, and double stroke rolls on the double bass drum pedals are very impressive. Wow.
That's honestly one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.
0:36 he looks like he is thinking: 'what is my hand doing' :D
lmao
Lmao🤣🤣🤣
Than goes like "okay, fuck it"
Lmao 😂
Best drum video i ever seen. This guy is a beast holy shit
Excellent,mr.Turner
as far as i search in here, no one has able to cover OAA drumming,
that's proving that you are the choosen one for Drumming AKA Born to be the King of Drumming.
2:22. Probably one of the coolest fills I've ever seen. So technical and just everything good in a full.
Fur Coat Thats actually a freestyle he throws into song that fill is not on the actual studio version lol if you dont believe me go check out the full song and you'll hear it lol
To Live Another Day I know haha thats what i love about it so much. I have the full album on my Itunes :)
lol awesome!!!! lol i still need to but a cd version of this album so i can jam out to it while im driving lol
To Live Another Day Yea i know how you feel. I have High Horse and Lost Isles on a CD along with some other songs and im working on the drums for Lost Isles and i will be posting a drum cover on that song soon. :)
lol ok if i am amazed by the cover i will subscribe lol and good luck with the drum cover lol
Finally! A metal drummer that doesn't kill the sound, but pulls it OUT of the drums. That's the way you drum and play MUSIC, which is the BEST.
I want who ever produced this to do their next release. That drum sound is immense. Sounds 10x better than the drums on the album
this is my favorite drummer since Aaron Gilespie. He's very unique in the genre of bland flavorless drummers
So amazing. Some girl comes up to my desk at work while I was watching this and say "I can't believe people get famous for this". And I just mugged at her and said "can you do that?.. What did you need?...Oh well I probably would have helped you before you said that but now I'm definitely not, goodbye"
+Mitchell Myers that bitch is not worthy
Good call my friend, good call. I bet you she's the type who asks that sort of question then goes off to listen to some fucking auto-tuned "musician" who lives off a computer software to make his / her "music" XD
Sickest drumming I ever saw!
I love his snare sound. It’s so unmetal. Amazing sounding drums.
I see no one covering this anytime soon.
i tried and broke my sticks lmao
it took a while but it happened: ua-cam.com/video/GvDQp-UNB2U/v-deo.html
2:10 is just absolutely beautiful
Been following Oceans Ate Alaska since about 2010 and watching this show how much Chris has improved since I first listened to them. Good job man!
Chris Turner...... Hmmmm.... I don`t know if I Love him or hate him. He is so full of talent it´s enough for hundred of other drummers.. Naah..... I love him. He is my new idol..
This is absolutely phenomenal
That was beautiful, those complaining or criticizing are obviously not drummers who can appreciate talent...
I have never seen something like this. My new idol
This is an intelligent dude that plays drums. His stroke is not from earth. Love it !!!
love when people come on these videos and try to tell the guy what he should be better at or what he does wrong. the guy is in professional drummer and is good as hell and is making a shit ton of money in an up and coming band that will be huge in a couple of years. dont think he really cares about what people say on here thats why he is where he is today
Brandon Weiker im not sure shit tones but he is making a living
not all pro drummers make bank wich is kinda sad in a way
Damn. Respect for this drummer man.
We want more!
Is it me or does that snare just sound absolutely amazing?
creativity and flawless execution
I can't get over 2:10 - 2:30
Outstanding Chris!
One of the best drummers out there!
Best drummer ever, hands down.
No lol
so sick!
He understands and knows the drumset so well to the point where he doesn't need to move his head and eyes to look at every move he's making. He's got it all down in his head which allows him to rely less on seeing what he's going to play.
This guy just doesn't look phased at what he does. Afterwards he's just like: "Well, that went well."
0.o
whaaaaaaaaaat the fuck is happening? Why does this only have 100k views??
Because people wouldn't know talent or good music if it bit them in the genitalia
2:18.....geez I love that really small part
THOSE GRAVITY BLASTS!!! daaaamn
Beast!
I like the low flat setup. Looks ergonomic
I cant do anything but shake my head like WTF whenever I see Chris play.
Maybe it's just me, but I have never someone throw in gravity blasts that effortlessly.
weell hes got the strongest and the cleanest kicks of all time it doent change...
Wow, that single hand snare roll with his right hand is the best I’ve ever seen....
We need more Videos!!!
the drumming on the riffs part is perfect
Very great job!
So talented. Respect
Does everyone know that when he plays at 2:23 thats a freestyle!!!!!!! ive listened to the actual song over a million times and theres no drums right there tbh ive to give him props for throwing a freestyle in his own music!!!!!
so clean wow ! amazing !
this is one of the most creative drum tracks i've heard in a long time. the variations throughout really showcase his abilities as a musician. you're fucking sick bro, i hope to eventually have chops like that
Espectacular
..........DAMN!
i used to think that pro drummer have certain limit and they gonna stuck when they reach it...but..!! this...this guy show me that there is no such limit bullshit... he keep improve avery single day...
that was amazing
Greatest. Snare. Rape. Ever. (Aka gravity blast). 2:39
I use this video as a humbling tool whenever I begin to have any cocky thoughts on my drumming abilities. Fucking insane.
sick!!
I cant help but to LOL throughout the playthroughs because of how fckn beast those fills are like dude this nigga @ 2:10..
Wow this is really good. Written pretty tastefully. That intro looks funny but sounds amazing. Good work.
2:22 - 2:30 ... How about THAT for a transition?? BadASS!!
Loving the gravity blasts dude
At night before going to sleep, the drums check under the bed for this guy.
His right hand at :36. That roll. Definitive proof that he is the robot everyone says he is.
He did it again at 2:39. I thought rolls like that were just a myth.
called a gravity blast
What a monster!
That push pull method was too clean, my god
I honestly just think he makes it up as he goes
2:17 my boi chris pullin some sweet *metric modulation*
Félicitations !!!
Did anybody else catch that disgusting modulated fill at 2:17 ? This dude is my teacher and I promise you he’s THAT nuts IRL
That bell was oddly satisfying 💕
Once you notice the dude with the tripod he can't be unseen.
+Bentley Campbell HAHAHAHAHA this is brilliant, some derren brown shit right there!"!!!!
Read this...looked up & there he was. Thank you
Wow and i thought Baard Kolstad, Thomas Lang, & Derek Roddy, & Daniel Adair & George Kollias, was the only Double bass Drummer's, in the Hole wide World, out there but this is insane, i don't think i have word's or can even say anything.
WOW..... SKILLLLLS
Best drummer in metalcore hands down. Get that Matt Greiner shit outta here.
You still need to give Matt credit for being a great drummer, but I agree that Chris is a beast at drums
I do but when people say he's superior it's overrated
Drummer from Heaven Shall Burn>>
+Erich Reiter He said metalcore drummer
+Real Repa Heaven shall burn is a metalcore/melodeath drummer
i keep wondering how the fuck he came up with that stuff...insane
+Chris Meier Probably because he is the best drum of his generation, in the future we shall see if he will be the all time best, he is at least one of the most creative ones
Yaaah..! 😊
Delicious!!!
My Favorite Parts From The First Listening until now is in 1:40 - 2:22
That Gravity Roll at 2:38-2:40.
HOLY SHIT THIS GUY...
Please do these song Next: Vultures And Sharks And Part of Something
He's got some crazy eyes
chris is sure one high horse
chris is one of the most stiff drummers ive watched but fuck is his playing so damn clean.....ill never get tired of this video
really hard to cover this song .. a unique band
Their singer has a very unique voice, and their drummer is literally hypnotic level good.
Only a handful of drummers would even WANT to attempt this, they are legends though, Danny Carey from Tool, Gene Hoglan, etc, they are the only people who would be able to pull off and understand his style generally very quickly.
The singer on the other hand is a completely different ball park, IDK if its an accent or what it is, but his voice is VERY unique, not the screaming, the actual singing portions, a great example of this is "Clocks" by Oceans Ate Alaska.
I feel like his voice really puts the music together well, if there was variance in his pitch, it would sound... different/bad in my opinion.
TL;DR: Covering drums could be done by high end musicians, literally professionals, or those who often cover for other bands, etc. Singer on the other hand would be a pain in the damn a** to cover.
0:35 - super fast snare fill with one hand! I'd struggle to play it that fast with two hands! How did you get so good at drums man.
