The shot at the beginning of the video isn't a slice Rick. Shit, that's a playable fade. When I slice the ball, it's so far gone that shot tracer would have been tracking horizontal across the screen 😂

I drive the ball probably 150 yards with 100 yards of slice in its path. I always have to take a drop and normally just use my 4 iron off of the tee box

for right handed golfers like myself, the absolute best advice I ever got for my slice was slow down my swing to about 85% and keep my left arm as straight as possible, always. Went from a terrible slice off the tee to nice high fade.

Watched all the videos in this series, went out onto the driving range, with driver, and found I was slicing 50% less. Still more progress to be made, but impressed that coaching at a distance could actually work. This is probably your best instructional series, Rick. You break down all the elements that can lead to a slice, one by one, and indicate the remedy. And for someone whose drive is probably the best part of the game (as evidenced in Break 75 time and again), you're a guy to definitely listen to on this subject.

Great videos! I've been playing off and on for years and I normally shoot a dismal 115-120. I'm a tall golfer at 6'5" and I can generate a lot of clubhead speed which for me usually results in a big slice, but the occasional bomb down the middle. I've set up a gopro in the back yard and really started digging into my swing mechanics. I love how you work though your videos, you make it easy to break down for a casual golfer like me. My alignment is much better, I'm using check points in my swing path during my practice swings like you mention in your videos and now I'm pulling the golf ball. Before this I never pulled a ball. Other instructors videos can get a little complicated, but I appreciate your teaching style. Now I'm pulling them into the woods just enough to lose my ball on occasion, but my contact has improved 100% and I'm starting to pull it together. Thanks! 🍻

What an amazing video series! Concise, clear, instructions and easy-to-understand cues. The biggest one for me was keeping the back of my hand to the sky during my backswing. This solved 75% of my issues. Apparently I kept breaking my wrists wrong without ever realizing it. I hit the range immediately after viewing this and after the positional adjustments, was DRAWING the ball (intentionally) after only about 3 practice shots. I've never been able- EVER- to get the ball to spin left until today.
Again, fantastic instruction, great instructor. No attitude, smugness, BS- just clear, concise, golf tutoring. Fantastic job.

Rick, your breakdown of the swing and the correction of bad elements (e.g. grip, plane, path, etc) has helped me to improve my consistency. Also the quality of the production is significantly better than majority of golf instruction videos on UA-cam. Living in Scottsdale AZ, I run into challenges based on the terrain of the golf course (not all are flat). I would like to see more instruction videos from different locations on the course. For example, ball above your feet, ball below your feet, down/up slope shots, etc.

I can’t thank Rick enough for this comprehensive guide to fixing a slice with the driver. The focus on (1) Club Face and (2) Swing Path really simplifies the process. During my first range session, I just focussed on the club face and the second the Swing Path. The outcome after about 50 balls in total was a shot shape with a slight fade which I can use on the course; such a massive improvement on my usual banana slice. Thank you, Rick.

Great diagram. It’s surprising how few people really understand the physics of the sport. Your diagram will be a huge help to so many. It’s comical at times watching BIG slicers get worse and worse with slicing the ball as they swing more and more left of target, leave the face more open than ever, and build in habits that can take years to overcome. Wish more would watch videos like this before ever swinging a club. It would be so much easier for them to learn it right from the beginning

Hi Rick, I know you probably won't read this but THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I only started playing golf about 3 months ago, which started out with a lot of sessions at the driving range. I started well, learning the basics off UA-cam and then progressed to the course. I started off well, starting on a handicap of 36 and now down to 29.1. Then I got some new clubs and then things took a turn for the worse...
For some reason which I couldn't not fathom, I was badly (and I mean BADLY) slicing my shots with the driver or irons. I was so frustrated because I had no idea why, what had changed since I started?
This video series is an absolute God send. I watched them all in order and you're spot on, you need to watch them all and in the correct order. Then I watched them again just so I didn't miss anything.
The first driving range session after watching these videos I went from slicing EVERY shot to seeing dramatic results immediately. You explain all the aspects in fantastic detail and thank you once again for solving a huge problem for and helping my regain confidence in the game!
Also as an aside, my driver shot was poor (compared to my iron shots) so I watched your driver series as well and also seen drastic improvement there as well! 🙌

  • @johnrevell273
    @johnrevell273 3 роки тому

Rick you are a total star! I’ve just started playing again after 25 years and this cured my slice immediately. For me it was the slight downward tilt of the face, I knew my grip was correct. I was keeping the face in same position as an iron on the take-away and that was clearly causing me to slice. I will now watch the other two videos in this series. Thank you again.

I rarely (if ever) comment on videos like this one but in this case I feel I need to. After not playing golf for 3 years I began playing again in 2022. All season I have struggled with slicing the driver. And it was getting worse to the point that I would tee off with 3 wood or even 3 iron most of the time. During a wondering tour through UA-cam the other night I came across Rick's Complete Fix Your Slice Guide. The guidance on club face to swing path really resonated as did the instruction on the ideal contact point on the face of the club. The next day I was playing a round with friends. With no time to hit even a single range ball I decided to go with it and see what happens. BOOM! hooked my first tee shot into the left rough! I never do that. Next driving hole - same thing. As I started to trust it I moved my target point from the left edge of the fairway to the center and eventually the right edge. On one hole I even pulled out a crappy ball (just in case) and aimed my tee shot at a small pond on the right edge of the fairway. This one was a soft draw about 25 yards farther than my (admittedly older) playing partners. I followed that with a 5 iron that came right to left onto the front edge of the green. Love the instruction and can't wait to take it to the range. Thanks.

Hard to believe but this series helped my slice exceptionally. Was hitting drives that ended nearly 45 degrees off to the right almost like clockwork, but I'm now seeing drives all over the place! Confused? Well I mean it as a good thing because now my shots may slice, they may go straight, or they may fade left, however all of them are within a much more predictable (and manageable) margin as opposed to ending the next fairway right! And that is after only 1 stint at the range and one round of 18. I can imagine with time it will get even better. I may not get feedback real-time from you, Rick, but the shot location really speaks for itself so thank you for putting this series together in such a way that I can work on one thing at a time and, progressively, get that shot that I've been wanting for a couple decades now.

Well, I was skeptical. I'm 54, short stature, but used to hit a long ball. As I aged, my slice became worse and worse. My drives went from roughly 280 yds to lucky to get one on the fairway at 250 yds. Every drive was a bad slice. After actually watching the entire video series and writing the pointers on my phone for reference, I took it to the course last weekend. The set up felt odd, but my first tee shot was dead straight and landed just a few yds short of the 310 yd hole. Every tee shot had zero slice and incredible yardage.. I'm not kidding.. The guys were blown away with the improvement. Thank you, Rick for my renewed passion in golf! I hit three drives over 300 yards that day and only pulled (I never do that) one drive all day.
    You are the man!

I’ve really been struggling with a slice. I watched this series today, took the lessons to the range to practice, then went out on the course. I wasn’t hitting my longest drives, but they were straight, and in play. Thanks Rick.

    Rick,
I've been watching your videos for years and I've become a huge fan. Your guides on how to fix various parts of the regular golfer's game, are second to none. I've gone from scoring in the low 100's to low-mid 80s very consistently. This driver slice video should be broadcast on all news channels across the universe and you should get your own program on the Golf Channel.
I'm 27 years old and I've golfed regularly since I was about 23. I've always refused to take lessons, as I prefer to watch your videos and figure it out on my own. I'm 6'5/250 (ex athlete) and I normally drove the ball about 260. The problems since I (just occasionally) played golf in my teen years have been a nasty slice, inconsistent irons and a questionable short game - basically everything. Starting with your short game videos, I fixed my short game in a couple of weeks. My irons were fixed a few years ago when I watched your video about weight distribution. The thing that blew me away though, was the ability of fixing my slice after watching this guide. I kid you not, I'm DRAWING the ball 300+ yards. I can't believe what has happened to my driver! Since I was 18, I watched various golf pros' videos on UA-cam and nothing compares to this guide you provided us a couple of years ago. At the time you released this video, I was living in Japan and I worked a job that allowed me to spend afternoons hitting balls at the range. I took my iPad with me, watched and repeated your videos and I have to tell you that you have singlehandedly saved my golf game. I am writing this now, as yesterday I played the best back 9 on my home golf course, shooting only 3 over. I understand this comment is quite long but I want to thank you for all of your help. I can only imagine how many golfers' games you've fixed with your videos, but at times it seems hopeless. My case was one of those, but now I am playing to break 80! Appreciate you sir, cheers!
    Al

Rick I hit my first ever 240m drive the other night at the range, have watched these videos in order more than 10 times and finally starting to click, I'm still finding I sometimes shank the ball left or hit up (hit the rubber tee), but I'm confident the more practice I have I'll be able to drive straight and not worry about slicing the ball anymore so thank you. Next is to get fitted for a new driver to help but your videos really do help to enjoy the game more thank you

Just want to say thank you so much for making this video. I've been playing golf for 16 years and have been so inconsistent with driving. I watched these videos, went to the course an holy shit If I didnt hit a draw every single time, made 90% of my fairways and even added some extra yardage to my overall drive! You're a genius!

Damn Dude. I watched the series then went to the driving range. Following your simple steps (grip, wrist and arm roll, my slice disappeared after the third shot!!!! I have watched tons of UA-cam videos that focused on "over the top" to no avail. Your videos were simple and actually work. You have become my favorite golf instructor. Brilliant!!! Thanks for changing my game!!

Unbelievable I've never drawn the ball before. Thanks Rick!

following this video series my slice was COMPLETELY eliminated. As a newbie in the golf arena I dont have a huge frame of reference in what im doing (no lessons or training.. Ive only hit maybe 300 balls) but this series got my grip, path and striking in my mind with reference to what im doing and how i can improve it or keep it if i need to. Thanks Rick. Love your content, training and drills, and that you're providing this information for us to practise.

As of right now, I’ve play 7 rounds of golf in my entire life. 1 a year for the last 4 year (a work tournament) , but just decided about a month ago to get my own set of clubs and start playing more. I’m loving golf, still very new to it, and the slice is killing my game. I kept track closely today when I played 18 holes. I shot 141 and calculated that about 1/3 of my shots where to put my ball back into a playable position. I have a tendency to slice so hard that my ball quite often ends up in the fairway to the right of where I’m aiming. I’m going to hit the range tomorrow and try these techniques to try to correct this. I’d be thrilled to be playing at 50 on 9 holes. Thanks for all the videos Rick, I go through about 10 a day.

I'm 45 years old and have played golf for the lady 30 years. I took the last five years off due to life, back, kids and frustration with the terrible slice I've played with since I was a kid. So when I started playing again a couple weeks ago, that frustration set in quick again after two rounds and I decided I didn't want to play that way anymore. I watched all four of these videos this morning, got a bucket of balls before I played and literally the fifth ball I hit was a dead straight bomb. And I was able to do it consistently. Aside from one magical round I had when I was young, today was the most gratifying and encouraging day of golf I've ever had. For the first time ever, I feel like my slice might be completely curable, if not cured already. Just wanted to say thank you!

I hit 20 balls and only 3 leaked right. Last shot I went with a more neutral grip and it went straight as can be. Skytrak had 0 side spin. Brilliant video, thanks Rick!

Rick, watched this, went to the range and found stage 1, hitting to the left easy; achieved this within 5-10 balls. Applied the remainder of your methods and out of 80 balls hit 2 to the right. My bad shot is now a hook but I think my grip may be too strong and wrists a bit active. I found the posture tips excellent and something I had let slip.
I have also watched your hook video and between them now know what I need to work on. Excellent videos good instruction and easy to follow!
