I really respect and always give Talia Hibbert an extra star because of her trigger warnings and the general way she prepares her readers for the book. Her recent book had a general terms explanation about the western/UK education system, which was so refreshing because often romance authors forget not all readers live in the same areas and under the same realities.
I feel Hibbert really understands the way difference presents itself in people's lives (both for her characters and for the readers).
I think you've read it already (and i think liked it) so it would be fun to see you and Haden read "The bromance book club" book if Haden wants to read another light-hearted rom com anytime soon. It would be book club inception.

When I read this book I went back and forth between the physical book and audiobook and I agree with Hayden about the narrator. With it happened one summer and hook line and sinker I absolutely hated the narration lol. It just felt cringey af and made it hard to take the book seriously.

I would love to see Hayden read somthing by Ilona Andrews! Honestly as a mostly adult scifi/fantasy reader myself I found their world building refreshing and interesting, and have to love a woman who stands up for herself

it was nice to see Haden catch a break and have a positive experience for once, even though its so fun to hear his scathing commentary on the other books. personally I'd love to see you guys finish the mortal instruments series because that plot line is a hot mess and your reactions to book 2 might be my fav dbbc, well that and the Ice Planet Barbarians one.

I'd love to see y'all read A Taste of Gold and Iron together. It's the best blend of fantasy and romance I've read in a long time as a mostly fantasy reader.

I never comment but I must advocate for Throne of Glass. As an newly-minted college graduate who read ToG at the age of like 12 (I have an heir of fire signed by Sarah Janet), I need the blistering commentary.
I think it would be fun for yall to read something like 'Ever After' by FT Lukens.
Don't know if it'd be beside the point of the DBBC, but I'd be super interested to see Haden explore something outside of romcoms and fantasy romance, and try a "deeper" more "high brow" romance with mutual pining so that he can see how diverse romance genre can be and what it has to offer. Something like Edenbrooke, maybe? It's still on my tbr, but I've heard you talk about it before and maybe it can fit the bill?
Or a Kennedy Ryan! Another really good author!

dbbc gives me the sense that if haden ever did find romance he liked (and/or related to), itd be a real small/niche subgenre. like there are a few Normal Guy romances, but i don't think they're really what i've seen you (chandler) read here.

The algorithm suggested this and I was pleasantly surprised. I even have a DBBC book suggestion! Jennifer Crusie wrote a series of romantic suspense books with a male writer. They each wrote the character of their own gender and JC wrote the love scenes, IIRC. Might be fun for you two to tackle, with the added layer of late 90s/early 00s romance tropes. In any case, off to binge the other reviews. Thank you for this fun content!
I would love for you to read my debut contemporary romance, Written in the Cards. I think you would like it. The protagonist has ADHD and runs out on her wedding day. She seeks guidance through a tarot card reader and starts working at a school as an art teacher. There’s a love triangle, enemies to lovers, close proximity. Coming this fall 2023!!

I think he should try a Mariana Zapata book! Me and my husband read books together. We take turns choosing a book. When I do, I choose a romance and so far he have read three of MZ books. Kulti, Winnipeg and Lukov. He actually really enjoyed all of them ☺️
