DBBC IS BACK Y’ALL BRING OUT THE FINE CHINA because we are FEASTING
I'm new here and I've been wondering what DBBC stands for 😅
Could someone please expand DBBC for me
@@nithyak2798dumb bitch book club
@@nithyak2798 dumb b*tch book club :D it’s a series where chandler and haden read & discuss the same book. there’s a whole playlist on her channel!
@@-riannaGot it! Thanks for explaining 👍🏻 😄
Yes, thank you!
Hayden deserves a sweet hero next. I vote Edenbrooke/ He reads your favorite historical romance
I loved Credence when it released because it was the first sharing romance that I read and one of the first indie romances I read but looking back it’s not my favourite Penelope Douglas book.
I think that’s why people liked it so much, it was the first “why choice” style book that kinda got mainstream, so the taboo-ness was the fun part. But now we have better options.
I don’t get why this book ended up on favorites?? Thought it was just me but damn I still think it’s a train wreck 😮
PLEASE let hayden catch a break & give him something to renew his faith in the genre 😭talia hibbert?? act your age, eve brown maybe
That's the exact book that got me back into reading! I feel like that's a perfect one to cleanse his pallet a little 😂
Edit- it's also unexpectedly spicyyy (if you've never read Talia and are going in blind, which I assume is the case for him lol)
Fake it till you bake it was really sweet!
i cackled when Hayden fully committed to those WEE-WOOOOs
he looooves a good bit
I can't handle when a woman (or man) says "stop" or "no" but their inner monolog is all "ok i like this" but they still express OUT LOUD to stop. (Looking at you From Blood and Ash) It doesnt make it ok. In my own opinion its a complete cop out to condone toxic male behavior.
Agreed. I'm reading an Elizabeth O'Roarke book right now, and the FMC tells the MMC to stop multiple times because she was mad at him, and he just doesn't. It's in her POV so we ultimately know that she's into it, but how am I supposed to like this couple when the MMC completely disregards her words.
@jessicar2609 exactly! My very toxic ex literally told me multiple times he based his actions around physical intimacy on depictions like these he saw in the media. "I thought that's what women like"
@@chelsikay13 That's awful. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
@jessicar2609 thank you💜 it took me so long to break away and because we have kids I'm not completely free of him but it's much much better. Plus the divorce will be finalized in 2 days and I can't wait for that part to be done too💜💜
Agreed
can I JUST SAY how much I APPRECIATE Hayden's pushback against consent/age/problematic tropes and themes? I think I am having more problems/less tolerance for grey area/taboo/IRL problematic content myself as I get older tbh. I think it goes in phases, but I don't find stuff like this as escapist as I used to.
ALSO I didn't see the poll, but I do hope we can give Hayden a really S tier example of the genre that shows diversity, consent, communication and healthy conflict resolution because I personally think that Romance as a genre is really doing all of those things the best right now.
I think this is my favorite format for DBBC so far :) very enjoyable! Thank you for all of the work you put into these videos for us!
"There was shock and awe, I was shocked that someone would write this!"
Omg read The Mindfck series cause Hayden will probably actually love it
This is definately my favourite DBBC episode so far! My opions on credence have also changed dradtically since i read it 😅. Ps i got dsitracted by your cat doing a giant leap onto the bed😂
“You don’t like having fun with your uncle?” STOP 💀
After watching this DBBC and the one on Ice Planet Barbarians, I feel the need to recommend Kissing the Coronavirus by M.J. Edwards. I've personally never read it, but it is short and likely a bit absurd, which might make it the perfect book for a DBBC commentary.
That would be hilarious
Credence is one of my most hated books of all time and this is HILARIOUS. We love a Hayden feature here
It’s also one of the most loved books
"YOU GAVE THEM OPTIONS?!" 💀 I have been waiting for this. Whooooo boy do I ever hate this book.
His facial expression in the thumbnail says it all😂 can't wait to see what else you guys read maybe more books by this author or some more 👽 romances 😂
Credence is like a 4K HD train wreck in slow motion: you're horrified but you can't look away 😂
My experience EXACTLY. 😂😭
31:03 “yeah that’s a little bit above my pay grade” 😂😂
I truly need chandler to have her own podcast
i'd really like to start one! i just have no idea what i'd talk about lol
@@chandlerainsley you can talk about anything and I’ll be here for it
Love this video. You guys need to do one that neither have read before!
I also love how respectful he is of the genre, my vote is a fun feel good romance next time
DBBC is back and with CREDENCE?? Can't wait to see poor Haden lose his damn mind. I almost feel bad asking for a tmi/ city of ashes update
I googled to see if she was a British author because the age of consent is 16 in the U.K. but she isn’t
Well they don’t do anything until she’s 18 so she is of age at that point
We needed more dirt bikes, yes I agree
I also need to circle back and find the IPB reaction
BIRTHDAY GIRL NEXT LMFAOO
LMAO i love my husband too much
I love that Chandler just keeps having Peyton read these crazy ridiculous books lol please keep this trend going 😂😂
I say read something by Ilona Andrews! I think it’s awesome. Both a dumb and smart MC! Love it
Haden is a total trooper! I completely agree Chandler- book content is so amazing because it's complicated, and definitely everchanging....even within our own opinions over the years 🙂
I’m with Hayden on this one. The taboo was just too much for me on this one.
The barely legal thing in romance gives me the absolute ick. As well as the iffy consent, just no.
This is my fav book. I'm fucked in the head ahaha. I respect people not being able to enjoy it. I feel like you have to throw feminism, taboo and morals out of the window to fully enjoy the book which can be hard sometimes, I was able to do that, BUT I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, specially under age.
Also, thank you for saving me from this book. I’m removing it from my TBR
😆😆🤣 having both your thoughts on the book was awesome! i'm not really a fan of PD (only because i feel her books are written more for shock value than having any kind of well thought-out plot) but it was heaps of fun listening to the two of you talk it out ♥
New dbbc content finally THANK FCK
Wow...well, it's safe to say that I will never read this book. And I thank you guys for completely removing it from my radar. 😂 But really, I love these videos with Hayden. You two are so damn charming together. It's just fun to watch. ❤
I have the opposite feeling lately about rating audiobooks Vs reading them physically. Lately I’ve found that since I listen fast, it gets over quicker. But I’m more likely to DNF a long ebook/physical book and I’m like damn this is taking forever! But audio I’m like ok this is a good length since I’m going so fast 😂
I tried so hard to get through this book because ITS PENELOPE. The audiobook was the only way! 😂
I Married A Lizard Man is so much fun! I also really liked I Married A Naga.
thank you Hayden, I hate this book so much!
What does dbbc stand for? Love your videos ❤
dumb bitch book club!
i nominate ‘the kiss quotient’, i wanna hear you guys talk about a perfectly seasoned book
I get the "barely of age" critique BUT age of concent in my country is 15 so it's really hard to see that as actual issue. Credence is my #1 Penelope book and I'm not even ashamed :D Full disclosure, I would speak differently if the heroine was under age for European standarts.
also NOONE: 😶
Hayden: BUT THE DIRTBIKES!!!
How did you know… I’ve been on the fence on reading this book. I’m scared but curious
It’s a wild ride but I feel like it’s a right of passage to read it lol
New DBBC we eating goooooood 🍝🍝🍝🍝🍝
thank u hayden
Yalls dynamic is forever entertaining LMAOOOO
What about Morning Glory Milking Farm? Bad but fun!
Maybe a Mariana Zapata book
he would haaaaate
On a second read of Credence I definitely felt exactly like Chandler. And I am once again coming here to say that I feel like hayden might enjoy the kate daniels series!!!
Or Mercy Thompson
Yeah after reading Birthday Girl and loving it so much, Credence was a huge disappointment for me. I’m okay with dark romances, but I feel it wasn’t written in a way that showed that what was happening to her was horrible, and instead written as romantic..
For future books, some fun picks you might not have read that I just ate up! Claimed by the Horde King by Zoey Draven and Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline. The alien books have really been bringing it😂
You guys would absolutely smash it in the podcast world xxx
“YOU GAVE THEM OPTIONS?!”
this made me laugh so hard omg! You guys are amazing together, I love the way you bounce off each other
Watching this made me laugh so hard that I scared my cats and fiancé, y’all are so funny 😭
I would love to see you reading anything from Sav R Miller! My favorite book of hers is Oaths and Omissions, but her most popular is Pomegrantes and Promises
I'm finally caught up on your videos and can comment, I would love to see you two do a dbbc with Hayden on The Fourth Wing, I think that would be really interesting and would be very entertaining!!
New DBBC lets goo 🙌
I’d love to see y’all do another Hayden pick for DBBC (especially as a primarily fantasy reader 🤭)
You guys should try out Creature Cafe for this series, but please look at the trigger warnings 😅 it's definitely not my cup of tea, but it's an "interesting" read nonetheless 😅😂
YAAAAAAY!!! So excited, will watch after I'm done the latest Kendall Rae video
these always make me laugh, i love them! i feel like magnolia parks would be a good one for yall to do!
Couldn’t get past 10% of this book, and not mad about it. Also don’t understand the hype over Haunting Adeline. 🚩🚩🚩
Okay so recommendations for DBBC if we’re fine with there being no actual bitches. Vampire chained by Karen Tomlinson, Pool of dreams by Sam burns, Elemental Runes by Sam burns
Loved this video. Try The Simple Wild by K.A Tucker. It’s very well written and the characters are well developed and mature.
if you are looking for a fun and dumb romance pucked by helena hunting might be a good option.
Thank you Hayden for suffering through this one!
Recommendation for July's DBBC: Red White Royal Blue - not the best book objectively but it's a fun, if extremely idealistic romcom so I don't think you'd be bored with it, would be good for the algorithm too since the film will come out in early August.
Or Yellowface, which could be a first time read for both of you?
P.s. Loving the new format!
I love this idea of making my husband read some shitty dark romance book 🤣 I might take inspo from this lmao
I actually remember your credence video. I watched it last year and I remember thinking that you were pointing out the negatives a lot for a five star read.
Edit to add: A fun romance that plays on fantasy character tropes is After Ever After by Lukens. Not sure if it's up your alley but it's pretty short, funny, idiots to lovers m/m romance
Also I’m loving having Hayden in this video 😂
I’m actually going to sit down and watch this later but I scrolled by and had to give you my first reaction.
I have no taste, like none. I’m aware I love sh!t books.
As such, bury those books in the ocean when your done and cleanse your souls. Helped me a LOT. 😂
HAHA HAYDEN IS SO FUNNY. You guys kill me. We need more vids like this!
Let’s pick something somewhat enjoyable next… I want Haden to enjoy a romance! Elsie Silver?
Wait… I would actually be interested in Haden picking some books! But not for the DBBC, like maybe he could have his own series where he picks books from his genres but he thinks you’ll like them!!
I have loved every single one of these videos with Hayden because he just tells it like it is & I'm here for that!! Keep it up because you both doing these together will always be a great thing to watch💗💗
I always love these, thanks y’all! I’m with Haden on this one, Pen Douglas is Not For Me.
I’ve only been reading romance since like 2020 and I read this book fairly early on in my reading journey and there were things I really liked about it. I was way more into the taboo thing than I am now and I liked the setting of the book but there were a lot of issues for sure. That initial scene with Kaleb was super upsetting when I read it and looking back on it I do not feel different. I also really didn’t like the other iffy scene with him later on. I was really unhappy with who she ended up with also. I think if I were to reread it at this point I’d rate it a lot lower than I did initially. I still love Penelope Douglas but now that I know what I like more, I definitely wouldn’t read this now.
WOOO!! DBBC!! (insert waving shirt regular show gif)
This is freaking amazing, I love these videos. Had me cackling! 😂
thank you hayden! 29:54
I gave Credence 5 stars when it came out but don't know how I'd feel now. I think my rating was more the experience, because I devoured it in a day and had no clue who she'd end up with, and not so much that it was a "good" book.
Thank you Haden! Lmao y’all are awesome. My vote is first time read for you both on the next one!
I cannot believe I forgot this book was like 500 pages lmao whyyyy
Hayden is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs. The two of you are funny as shit 😆
DBBC FINALLY
Thank you Hayden! You should read Ghosted by JM Darhower or The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros.
im ngl this book was easy to read and addicting but i did not like the characters at all... sad bc i loved most other pen books
Is Penelope Douglas a duo? Or non binary? I’ve always wondered why you used “they” because I really thought it was one woman?
non binary person
I only like the ‘dating your uncle’ trope in house of the dragon lol
Pepe flying in killed me😂😂
lmao i did not catch that at all while editing. good stuff.
yeah 100% didn't see the point of that weird dubcon ish scene either. i was so annoyed it was so unnecessary for me too
please read torment by dylan page for dbbc!
Haven’t even started the vid but soooooo excited! DBBC!!!!
Ok I love Hayden’s comments lmao
I think we need a true classic like fifty shades
"i think its both ways, i think its a duality :D" "..no."
Love this format!!!
I love the Book but I do not like the spit scene
35:34 I SCREAMED at that face!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Waking olivia would be such a good dbbc
Chandler: “no.” 😂😂😂
I really enjoyed this format!
"Shock and awe me," but write it well and with clear purpose or impression. Yeah, more "dirt bikes" for me also. I agree that a character in situations like these need to show growth, IMO. great Vlog. Thx. {Yeah, do The Fourth Wing}
I read romance solely for escapism. I heavily dislike contemporary romance as I have learned more about my tastes b/ they are too "realistic" n boring. Tessa B does have excellent chemistry, sex scenes n dirty talk to break that but in general I much much prefer fantasy romance or dark romance or monster romance or even an indie version of contemporary as it's less vanilla n boring. I rather shoot myself than read an Emily Henry book. you'd have to pay me lots to read an abby Jimenez or an Elena armas or any animated cartoon cover lol. so I enjoy PD very much n don't try to over analyze dark romance. of course I have my hard lines but I guess some dub con I seem to overlook n can get past. but others like in the ritual I couldn't get past 15% n dnf ed. So for me it's v dependent on the author n PD is talented to get away w/ it n make it interesting/enjoyable n worth my time. I wasn't bored at all. I also do not listen to audiobooks (can only do mid mystery/thriller via audio) I just can't deal with someone narrating sex scenes lol n imo dark romance via audio is not a good fit whatsoever. physically reading it, things don't seem as non consensual as PD does a good job setting the scene, atmosphere, secluded cabin in the mountains, away from "real world", etc. Also I read these type of books in 1 sitting b/ once I take myself out of the setting it's v hard to get back n that makes it less enjoyable. this is my version of binging light reality tv, popcorn entertainment vs an excellent show I slowly savor week by week.
“Not my cup of tea, let me tell ya” 😂
