Thanks ladies for always encouraging us and opening our mind that it is possible and that there are options that we may have to achieve it.. the rest is up to us!!
Great convo. I paused at 1:30:30 in on the gentrification part. I liked that Roshida followed Adalia's comment with "yes, and." Because 2 things can be true at once. A small but powerful minority can absolutely transform everything and fast (capitalism loves it fastest). I'd also really love to hear how you 3 navigate some of the complicated emotions that might come up around this topic. How do you balance shit that might get projected onto you, even if you don't feel them yourself. How does shame show up, for instance, when people try to compare you with gentrifiers/colonizers. What's the first step to not taking on their stuff. How do you balance it with critical analysis (which y'all are DOING!, so thank you). What do you do with the passive aggressive "must be nice," comments. You said it annoys you, but how does it make you feel beyond that. What do you do with those feelings. Is it weird to catch yourself doing the same thing, for example with the wanting abs but going for cake thing Roshida raised. Does that allow you to extend more grace to others when they do it? Or do you shame them more to not feel so bad when you do it. When does guilt show up, if it does. Do you get extra irritated with you feel hustled and taken advantage of. Where does that anger go. Do emotions inform your day-to-day decisions in some way (for example, do you tip more, or barter less). I guess I'm asking, how did you get past the deep fear, shame, rage, anger, grief, and guilt, etc. as Black women. Because opting in to these systems here requires that we take on a lot of these toxic emotions which capitalism requires us to do. How did you deprogram from that part. What did doing away with the shame look like. How did you say, this guilt is not mine. This anger is deserved. Joy is my birthright. etc. I'd love more vulnerability on navigating difficult emotions while abroad. Mostly because it's the very reason I actually went back to do my PhD. I always noticed emotions and trauma was getting in the way of the most perfect trips. Tried to make this short, and it's still long. Which is to say, you had me engaged.
21:30 The homeownership expectation for younger people is definitely something for us to question. Especially considering we don’t truly “own” the property or the home. Why be chained to a house and then not get to do things we want to do to have a permanent residence where we may not want to stay?
I definitely need to hear this because I keep thinking that I need to make Close 26 Figures to get a Body Here and is the having to make Money partit's what's tripping me to fuck up honestly like I already Know where I Want To Go I have a pretty good idea how to do it I've lived abroad before and I'm just trying to get into a sector of the workforce where I can work globally and from Anywhere have a couple of companies that I Want To work for but it's been a Bitch trying to get my foot into that Company.
Hi ladies I do have a remote job in Cybersecurity however I have a home that I just purchased 2 years ago and even though I have paid into the principal I still owe $300000 on a home worth $365000. How do I minimize to move abroad? I have travelled abroad many time to various countries so I knew I wanted to retire overseas but now I want to speed that up.
The survival conversation was actually quite interesting to me. Adalia, do you worry abuot you health since you are like I don't eat veggies etc.? IT's one of my issues that I care aobut in our community is that food quality is so so important to our health. And I'm with Steph I saw a friend do things we were sure HE WOULDN'T just to live longer in a hospital.....

I've been this way for nearly 50 years. I don't know another way to be.
Sound is terrible.
This was a live video from 4 days ago. I cannot fix the sound now.
