Vans RV-8 Fuel Tank Leak test Ep 54

Been without power from Hurricane Beryl for a week now so couldn't get any building done but I was able to leak test the right tank.... What do you think will it leak?

So you think that was bad. Mine bubbled all the way down the side. I was so pissed. The instruction on UA-cam by Van's is a little miss leading. SO I riveted out all the baffle resits and cleaned off all the sealant and essentially started over with a clean baffle. Then on re-applying the sealant I made a bigger bead very close to the rivet holes so that when I slid the baffle down it would come in contact with the sealant and smear it down the side. I tested it after two days and the only leaks I had then were around the AN fittings which I just tighten up a little and no leaks were observed.

Wow. That’s how I felt after the first tank. So on the second I made absolutely sure that baffle was well sealed. Will find out for sure in just a few days.
