Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 тра 2020
- A joint Hollywood jump with the 173rd Airborne Brigade and British Paratroopers/Jump-masters.
This was a "Family Day" jump where children and spouses could go watch their family members hop out of a perfectly good helicopter.

Nice DZ. Be a shame if you... landed off
LMAO
When I was an Officer of the Crown, embedded in the Australian Army and shortly after Occupational Health and Safety became a big issue in the Australian Military I took a convey of Civilian Coaches into a remote location to pickup some Soldiers, who ordinarily, previously, would have been collected by Army Trucks.
When We arrived on site, the Civilian Drivers were mystified by the fact that they couldn't see a single Soldier.
When I told them that they were looking in the wrong direction, they looked all around them but saw nothing, so I told them to start looking up, because the Soldiers We were here to collect were Paratroopers.
I sat on the ramp with my legs dangling over the edge on a CH47 flight from Belgium back to RAF Gutersloh. As we flew over Holland I was waving to the people enjoying the sun around some of the many lakes.
I should also point out that I was wearing a dispatchers harness clipped firmly to one of the floor points!
Are you a WSO?
We had someone do that in Norway, he had seen it on the holywood films, unfortunatley he lost both legs due to frostbite !!
mans was returning from the gulag
You're back in the fight!
Ive done that mission a time or twelve, but I always had to stay with the helo since it was my bird, lol.
British para be like find us the hardest place to land and we'll nail it.
Man you were right about making the decision harder
Jebbus only a little sorry
Charlie Pope 😂
Paras of the Corn? Sounds like a wicked movie theme. Totally mega!
Imagine some kids are playing in the cornfield and they're like "what the..."
Farmer comes rushing out with the shotgun to say get off my land but then remembers the you and whos army joke.
Thank you, sir!
CH-47 The best damn flying machine ever made, bar none.
MH-6 Little Bird is my favourite
@@alexnavyseal38 I respect both your opinions, but have you guys even seen the UH-1's? They're magnificent!
@@crayzcapper7036 no I cant say I had the chance to see any of them in real life yet except the AH-64E and MK1 Wildcat (they are used by the british army) I just love the maneuverability of the MH-6 little bird and wish to one day to be in one and experience a combat landing.
@@alexnavyseal38 They are quite maneuverable and versatile. They're a solid pick!
Looks really calming.
i geniuenly enjoy the quality of these videos, keep it up, and thanks for your service!
FreeSpy Cristi thanks man I appreciate it!
Plane: This is my retirement better make it a good one!
Paratroopers: oh no...
Thanks dude!
Lmao
Hey, I'm a new sub and wanted to say Thank you for your service from a veteran family.
Jumpin outta the chinook is the smoothest jump you can get
You seem like such a humble and genuine guy, I want to be in the airborne when I'm older. Thanks so much for the uploads!
James Meehan thanks man, I try. I wouldn’t have been anything with out the dudes around me.
Jump videos always get me hyped. Wish I could’ve done at least one jump.
Amazing.
These videos are so calming, hope you’re doing well man.
Thanks man I appreciate it.
First time finding out that chinooks can be operated for paratroopers. I live relatively local to two RAF bases, RAF Brize Norton and RAF Fairford which is used more for American bombers. I see a range of cargo aircraft and the chinook definitely has one of the most unique sounds when flying with it’s pair of rotor blades.
You live near norton!!! Lucky
Welcome back to UA-cam love your stuff
Thanks man!
SWEET MUSIC, GREAT TRAINING DAY
Perfect tune!
Thanks friend!
great video keep up the great work
Aspiring to be a Para someday, awesome video! 👍
@Maxi Delevingne I just love hockey that's all, not Canadian
Good shot sir!
Love the videos keep them coming!!!
I don't have too much other footage unfortunately, but I'll make sure I use what I have well!
@@charliepope6750 hey man just wondering and I understand if you dont want too tell me but was leaving the air core a what you wanted too do or did you have any choice?
@@aidanedwardsmith8033 I was medically retired due to a traumatic brain injury that led to some other serious issues.
Charlie Pope Danm hope you are well now.
@@charliepope6750 man I'm really sorry that happened too you, you have my best wishes, I hope you're okay.
My corn though!!! LOL, great job though, i want to do some skydiving when i get a tad older.
Despite the landing that looks so chill, just floating down without a care in the world in beautiful scenery and weather!
It was such a slow fall!
@@charliepope6750 you must love your job so much! 😊
Me: Yep, looks like 3 stalks down, sarge
Sgt: You know that’s coming out you next check, right?
YOUR BACK!!
Can wait to apply for the paras 😆
Awesome video dude! You should totally upload more of your footage.

What a beautiful CO day to jump
Man it must be so fun
very
Got my British Wings 2012!
Got mine in 1981 mate😊
Wow, this is cool! I’m thinking of joining paratroopers now..
It's a brotherhood unlike any other
Just make sure you have plans outside the army too. But paras is still good though.
The hurry p and wait paradox!!
Hollywood ramp jump off a 47 with gorgeous weather...it don't get no better than that.
badkarma11b everything but the landing was perfect
...followed by the walk of shame. I'm glad you're ok after that!
Rule 62 LIVE same!
that would be such a sick dz to haho from
I have landed in that same cornfield. It's better than a tree but it still ain't easy pulling your shoot out of corn stalks.
You can say that again!
"Wait here he comes, I got him, I got him.... no no Dave i think its you.... Bob heads up, coming your way...."
The corn, probably.
At least the corn hadn't been harvested yet. I've landed on the stubs of corn stalks on the opposite side of Angel's road at Corrigedor DZ, FCKY
Oof you landed in the cornfield, I felt how hard it was to pack up in the cornfield.
No easy task haha
Enemy dropping into the AO
Corn cob up your chuff bugger me lol
man I love shithooks
Lol I remember landing in the cornfield on Juliet one time.. no bueno
Not fun trying to untangle that chute haha
I'm currently joining the U.S. Army and have to still do MEPS, after I'm done with MEPS they'll throw me over to Fort Benning. I want to be airborne but I know I'm terrified of heights #BootsStayOnTheGround
There's a good way to get over that fear called airborne school!
That looked odd seeing a regular static line cable. When I was in the static line cable was in the floor and you held your static line loop low. When did that change?
Early on the spot?
Good to know you weren't injured! Although, there are much easier and safer ways to get corn bro...
so does covid not stop military events?
edit: also love the vids
this isn't recent, it's old footage :)
Tobz thanks man! And like that guy above said, it’s old footage from almost 2 years ago
Most military events/operation have been adjusted for the pandemic, but the military won’t let covid stop most training exercises
Not really still getting shit done
They train to fight in NBC environments so some training must go on.
173rd represent. Well I'm part of the 143rd airborne infantry national guard unit and we fall under 173rd but still
Out of Texas, right?
Hell, in the 80duce we Never had anyone help us recover our main 😱
This was honestly the first time I had ever had anyone help. I think they really just came to check if I was alright and ended up helping cause they felt bad lol
Abingdon 1971 september , 4 weeks after my 18th birthday, utrinque paratus.
Did you do the balloon jump? Scared the shit out of me 'cos I could see the blades of grass....
That farmer hates you lol
He gets paid per stalk destroyed , He was hoping I'd ruin more lmao
In a combat drop would you leave your parachuting gear behind or would you also pack it up then
Depends on a couple things. If you're taking a lot of contact, you wouldn't pack things up. If you need to conceal that a bunch of paratroopers dropped? Yes, and youd move the bags somewhere hidden
Awesome video man 🤙🏻 are you aloud to record a lot of your training on go pro? Was wondering for when I go into Recon
No, I had written permission from the brigade commander. If you google DVIDS you can find a lot of stuff from the Public Affairs offices though!
@@charliepope6750 he must have been a good one to allow you to film
@@toad3222 A very good man, yes
If i had a bad landing and broke my 2 legs i would litterally be agonizing in the floor calling for a medic imagine if that happened to someone in a combat zone it would be a hell....
Only if he had his mini-map on...
If you landed in the middle of the field do you think you could find your own way out? I assume you must have gps or at least a compass?
I knew which way was out buy paying attention to where I was falling. I didn’t fall that far into the corn so it was easy to figure out
Great footage! how many jumps do you make in the military/paratroopers? I am a civilian skydiver..
I made 23 jumps! I have many friend who have done much more though
I'm headed to the 143rd airborne and I was curious how often ya'll interacted with your NG associated unit. Also, if ya'll had any strong feelings one way or another about your NG compatriots.
Honestly the most interaction there really was was being in the same area. It's an... interesting dynamic to say the least
Stretched spot for a long stick. Unfortunately, you were out first :)
FFs, I wouldn’t of found my way out of the corn field😂
It was only like 40 yards in, it wasnt too bad haha
I do not fancy being in one of those things with people shooting at me........flying coffin.
Anyway, I didn’t think Paras.....well....Para’d any more.
Me when i respawn across the map after the gulag
Baldini groused the powder
Imagine being so Air Assault you jump from a helicopter
Air Assault doesn't do jumps. They fast rope sometimes
Great videos, are you in the 101st or 82nd?
Neither. 101 doesn't do airborne operations. I was 173rd
Man are you going to do some moře of these vids?
You're back?
No, Just some old footage I had
Jumping out of an aircraft looks fun until you have to pull your parachute back into a bag.
Whens the next video?
Glad to see your okay, seeing this reminds me of the old joke about the pigmy tribe that lived in an area of tall grasses who were known as the where the F-ck are we tribe. 👏👏👍
I tried joining the army as my last resort cause I was just down bad but now I’m okay got a job but couldn’t join cause I didn’t pass high school
Is ur job involve drugs and selling them lol
Bad landing?! Did you die?! No? Can you walk?! Yes! It's a good landing! When you're dragged across the field and all of your equipment is spread out like a fucking yard sale, then you can call it a bad landing!
I've definitely had worse lol, that was just a terrible spot to land
Why did you stop jumping and do you wish you could have kept the parachute badge?
I still have a couple, the one i buried wasn't my only one. I am no longer in the army, so i can no longer jump
Nice little decent there. It seemed that there was no wind. Are you able to have limited steering with these chutes?, or did you just fancy some corn on the cob ?:D :D lol. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
I caught a thermal, so it was a super slow decent! Everyone who jumped after me landed before me. Very limited steering!
Where are you located my brother is in the AirForce in Mississippi
This was in Italy
Are you not able to steer thoes? Is it just land where you land?
Pretty much. There are 4 parts you can pull on, but you honestly hardly move no matter how hard you pull
@@charliepope6750 looks fun man
@@brandenjones716 Wouldn't trade it for the world
Wait i thought you already had your last jump
Shuriken250 I did, this was more footage I had stashed away
@@charliepope6750 nice. Thanks for letting us see it!
Shuriken250 happy to share!
@@charliepope6750 will you still do parachuting time to time or is that a thing you don't wanna do.
Nice shots on the way down. Italy, England or..? Come join the WWIIADT!

This is not the day to have an accident
I thought you were medically retired that's what it says in the previous video did you get reinstated or is this an older video
This is footage I had from a jump I did in the same time frame as the other
Charlie Pope oooooh
Hey maybe you’ll find ackbar down there
So if you didnt know, this is what it's like coming from the gulag
