He was a red or black belt, and pretty outgoing guy, but get him up against the wall he was ready to fight. So he eventually was transferred to as leg unit. But before he left, during morning or afternoon formation top called him front and center and removed his wings. When top was walking away Tiko pulled open his fatigue shirt, pulled down his t-shirt at the neck and showed us he had jump wings tattooed on his left chest. We all got a chuckle, top, what could he do but shake his head.

I thought he had paralyzed himself at first until another paratrooper ran to him and he told him he broke his leg, I was so glad it was just a broken leg and not him getting paralyzed. The video title was "Career ending airborne accident" if anyone is curious on seeing the actual video (IDK why you would be!). Now when I see these videos I have some SERIOUS pucker factor going on with the repeated "Please don't break your legs!" said over and over the whole way down. Glad to see yours DIDN'T end that way. Buried mine at Campell in '88. Kept jumping after the Army for a while, but a spinal injury put an end to that. If you have never jumped before, there aren't words to describe that feeling you get when you are sailing toward the ground...

My Last Jump was in 2006 as a german paratrooper and I wont forget it. But my very first jump, that was far more intense. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Before the jump, I had a brief conversation with our Battalion commander where he told me that he would give anything to experience that first jump again..
I did not quite understand why. But after the jump, I did. It is so different to a civil jump. All These months of drill, training, laughing as well as suffering with your comrades. You dont get this in civil Life. And then that jump. Pumped with adrenaline, some guys vomit in the plane, some fall asleep as a paradox reaction I guess. Noise everywhere, jumpmaster gives you Signals, you check your equipment and from the guy in front of you and you make no mistake because lifes depend on it. Suddenly you rush our, slam the hook to the jumpmaster and almost knock him out. Everything happens automatically, you do Not have time to think. And all of a sudden, once you made it out of the plane and the chute opened, you enter a world of total peace and silence. Your voice dissolves. It was like I died and am in Heaven. It still blows my mind. The more jumps I did, that feeling went away because I was not that nervous anymore and had more Routine. My last jump, I simply enjoyed every moment of it. Glück ab!

So everybody remembers their last jump. For me it was only five jumps at Fort Benning, then run to the graduation. My left leg hurt like hell but I was pumped up and not about to let anyone down and made it. Years later, an orthopedic surgeon told me I had two bones fused together in my left leg. "Oh, yeah," I said. "I remember that day."

What a great video. In the sped up portion where the paratroopers are loading on the plane, it shows them moving fast in a left to right to left motion. My wife pointed out to me that I was mimicking the same motion whilst sitting in my recliner. I guess the video and music made me zone out. It was hilarious.

@@trashboy1766 The soldiers and families of the 101st are unreal. Many, really most, live and shop and commute in Clarksville TN even though it's based out of nearby Ft. Campbell KY. Polite, decent, helpful and noble doesn't even begin to describe these soldiers and their families. Real diamonds in the rough. All the surrounding towns and counties( exxcept maybe Todd) are filled with trashy, lazy, lowlife pepple who are miserable and have never done anything with their lives. When you encounter these men and women, even their families, you know you are in the presence of greatness. I live 60 miles from there and every word I say is true. God bless the 101st forever and ever!!!

I just finished army airborne school. What a wild ride that was. My palms still get sweaty just watching people fly up in the air. In a weird way I still miss doing my jumps because it was like anything else I have experienced. I am not an adrenaline-junkie type of person so it was all a huge shock to my system at first. However, I still think I'm a better person for having done it.
