Super sexy tank! Very good formative video with a lot of helpful tips Mark! Sure that thousands of aquarists will appreciate it, both beginners and experienced. I have seen the whole video while I have done my daily rutine in the fish room :) Simply great video for the hobby so thanks for sharing it!
This hobby requires time and knowledge. I remember some videotapes of a leading brand of aquariums material of about 20 years ago. Those videotapes lasted much longer and gave almost no useful information... People will apreciate this video
Great vid Mark. When I first saw that HOB intake I thought is he really going to have that big white donkey d**k hanging down in there with his pretty neos!?!? Lol. Glad you covered it with the rock and then ditched it in the final night time portion (FYI, the Fluval Edge prefilter sponges fit perfectly on HOB intakes. I got a pack of 12 on Amazon for $7.99. A used one also works great to preseed a tank). I love the use of the preseeded filter media. I see quite a few shrimp tank setup vids that just start from scratch with 3-4 different expensive mineral powders sprinkled under the substrate. And then you wait... Seems like such a waste of time when you most likely have other tanks with perfectly good bacteria laden media available, or know someone with an established tank that will kick you down some. I'm looking forward to seeing the progression of this tank. Keep up the good work my friend!
Hi Mark..looking at getting my first shrimp which will be some yellow shrimp. Would a similar set up to this be ok for them to? From what i have researched sounds like they qre in the same family as cherry shrimp. Thank you for your help
Great video again. Step by step from the scratch. This is what I was looking for and I know there are alot of people want to see this. BTW, I usually put mineral powder on the bottom. Is bacteria powder better for them?
Alright I will keep this one short. I would love to try shrimp keeping along side my main tank. It would be simply a small 2.5-gallon tank to keep on my desk. I would use artificial plants and simple aquarium gravel. I would first cycle it with Neon Tetras and then introduce shrimp when I have a fully nitrogen cycled tank as I am aware they are delicate. I would not use live plants. Would this setup work?? and how often would it need cleaning??
hello mark, I have a question about heaters in shrimp tanks. is it necessary to run heaters with cherry shrimps? at what temperatures do they prefer to thrive in? I was planning on removing my heater but wasn't sure if my shrimps would survive. right now where I live at the temperature is roughly 53-58 degrees now. would my shrimps be able to survive and adapt to the temperature?
Q: I am setting up a 6g Cube tank for Cherry shrimp. I am using a Fluval Aquaclear 20 hang-on filter with the biopellet and floss, as you recommended. Q: Do I need to use an air pump with air stone to get more oxygen in the water?
Any recommendations on where to get nice rocks? I assume finding them outside is a bit unsafe unless you know what type of rock it is because it could change the Ph, correct?
The rock in this tank came from a river thats next to my house ..if you are not sure you could just stick it in a bucket of water and test the water a week after.
Great tank Mark! Is the gravel just plain gravel or does it help with ph etc? Also do you add any food for the plants or are they ok just left alone? Looking to start my own tank, thanks for the time!
Hello Andrew, this tank was plain gravel because it has Cherry Shrimp in it they like a ph over 7 so no need for a special gravel ...my next tank are Pintos which require a special substrate then the tank straight after that will be for Bloody Mary Shrimp which will just have a plain gravel again .
Marks Shrimp Tanks had another question as I am still researching and getting ready, do you need to fertilize your plants? If so what kind do you use? Thanks again Mark
hey looks great BTW but a question what's on the rock... I'm assuming algea but not sure and if it is did it just grow over time or did you put something in to boost it... (didn't watch hole video brother interrupted me)
where can I get those type of safe rock .....I didn't get any rocks for aquarium near......can u make a video of how to find safe rock for shrimp from pond or from garden etc., :)
Most rocks are safe, you can do the vinegar test on them ..ad a few drops on the rock and see what happens ...no reaction is good .. I then just give the rocks a good scrub :)
Hey I want to start keeping shrimps as well, and I want to start off with red cherry shrimps. I was wondering if you could suggest me a sand-looking substrate. And what type of plants and would I need soil
Hello Christian ,for Cherry Shrimp all you need is some type of gravel ,I cant really recommend a inert substrate because there are so many, I normally just go into a petshop and ask to see all the gravel types they have, and pick one that reflects the need of the tank. My goal in this video was to highlight the big rock so I chose a light gravel.
Christian Dela Rosa Thanks Christian,This is what I do daily,I get up in the morning have a coffee and reply to every comment on my channel..Then I go into my little Shrimp room and do Shrimp stuff :D
Hello Mr Meen ,I just replied to your email. Yes you can use CO2 with Shrimp.Co2 has no baring on oxygen content ether they are independent of each other, people run into problems using it when they make the water too still to hold in more Co2 which in effect lowers Oxygen content .
I have shrimp that came from a river in the philippines i'm from there in the philippines what shrimp are those? I don't have a heater and they live in my main tank, but i have 1 left and i don't have now it died lol,it is gray the shrimp i have a 2.5 gal tank if i put cherry shrimps like 2-idk will they live there or die
Hey Mark, I've got a question. How hard actually is to keep some Cherry Shrimp...My experience with fish had been fine but when it comes to shrimp they keep dying on me..Can you help?...Btw Awesome Video Man!
Hello,Cherry Shrimp are relatively easy to keep as long as you dont over feed them and dont do to large water changes,I only change 3-5% twice a week which is a Wen/Sun for me and I let the water drip in over 24hrs. Shrimp like stability ,give them that and they will thrive for you.
Haha no sorry my friend ,this was shot on an old windows phone that didnt have image stabilization and I personally dont like UA-cams version because it makes it look like I am drunk lol

very informative video mark 👍

Yeaj yellow neos are the same family as Cherry shrimp, I think they would look great in a tank like this
Tradescantia zebrina, or "Wandering Jew", its common name, looks really good alongside the Pothos.
Whatever happened to that tank. That was an awesome scape!
👍❤👍
its still up and running to this day
good tank!

I think that is to cold, minimum temperature would be about 66 best temperature for breeding is around 76 :)

Can I keep bronze cory with red cherry shrimps ? will they eat baby shrimp ?
yes they will eat baby shrimp.
@@MarksShrimpTanks thanks for the reply :) i have 2 of them and they were moved to my pond.
You should have sprayed the pipe black mark would have blended in a lot better!
yes for sure

I did nothing to it ,it was way greener than this before but the more shrimp that breed in there the less it gets .
where can I get those type of safe rock .....I didn't get any rocks for aquarium near......can u make a video of how to find safe rock for shrimp from pond or from garden etc., :)

Hi Mark, how you get RO water with tds of 180ppm. My RO water is tds of 15ppm.. Thanks
You have to add a buffer to it, the go to buffer is Salty Bee Shrimp GH +
Hi mark do you know what rock it is that you used
Probably granite I think it was a dark grey before I put it in the tank.
i see you got the plant ( THE WONDERING JEW ) lol
I had to google that term lol I also have another type that looks similar but with much smaller leaves .
Mark can you use CO2 in planted setup with shrimp?
Hello Mr Meen ,I just replied to your email.
Yes you can use CO2 with Shrimp.Co2 has no baring on oxygen content ether they are independent of each other, people run into problems using it when they make the water too still to hold in more Co2 which in effect lowers Oxygen content .

What pH does your Neocaridina tanks have?
all over 7 ,they like minerals rocks ect :)
Where can I buy the bacteria powder?
Ebay ,Amazon are good ..I think I have it in my affiliate links AMAZON RECOMMENDATIONS ► amzn.to/2j4Ht6H
