Love these subwassertang ropes!! The rope is alot smaller than I thought it would be. Very cool and thanks for sharing! Gonna have to try this sometime.
Good morning Mark, thak you for a great tutorial on the susswasertang rope. I stumbled across your channel while searching for some information on susswasertang moss in Oct 2024. This tutorial on how to make a susswasertang rope was the one. I was fascinated by the look and just had to try it myself. Had to ponder over a couple of things. I do not have a spray bar in all my tanks, so had to figure out how to get the rope to stay in one place without the cable ties. Trying to keep my tank as natural as possible. So I drilled a 4 mm hole halfway into a small pebble to glue the rope into it for the anchor. To get it floating I decided to use a cork from a wine bottle also with a 4 mm hole to fit the rope through. This is now scalable to adjust the depth requird. Unfortunately, I do not know how to attach vid or photo, as I'm new to UA-cam... Keep up with the great content on your channel. I will definitely pop in again.
Hello Woudapie, I was going to try this again in a new tank using abmboo across the top so I could tie the ropes to it and just use a ceramic ring to weigh down the other end.
I've just found this video, after always loving the look of your subwassertang wall, now I see how you've made it. I'm making a video now on subwassertang with a variation on your suspended ropes. I'll make sure to link back to you. Thanks for the inspiration :)
Thanks for this video! I wanted something like this in my shrimp tank for moss but was using tubing. Needles to say it didn't work well. The rope is perfect and much easier to manage. I sowed some suction cups to it and it looks fantastic. Can't wait for the moss to grow in!
Mark I am finally getting some of your past videos into my feed. I love this kind of stuff and I can use my fly tying vices and equipment to make these. Awesome! Enjoyed it, one of my favorite videos.
@@MarksShrimpTanks yeah I know you had to smack them upside the head. Just wanted to let you know I am seeing your videos again it is great for me and good for you sir!
@@MarksShrimpTanks Thanks Mark! Just made 3x vines last night and they look great! I ended up having to pass back over them one more time with the thread because the pieces would end up working their way out once I submerged.

Very nice tip! By the way, its German "Süßwassertang" in more common English spelling "Suesswassertang". The term was meant to describe the sea water macroalgae-like apperance while being able to grow in fresh water (German Süßwasser).
I really love the subwassertang ropes! They are beautiful. The ones in your tank there remind me of a kelp forest! Which I always thought were so beautiful. I'd love to have these ropes. I have a well, and my water is high Ph, of usually 8.4. I think it is probably hard too. Would the subwassertang live and thrive in those conditions? Thanks for the video. No problem seeing what your hands were doing at all. Subscribed. :)
Hi Mark can you please add a link to the snail and worm treatment your using please, handy to no what one to get that won't affect the shrimp, nice blog to 👍
