    Hello Mark,I've had my CRS colony now for 9 days they haven't bred so is some thing wrong or do I just have to wait longer I have 4 adult female CRS and 2 adult male CRS 2 of the females molted but none were berried so if you can help me outThanks and when do we find out who won the competition

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому +2

      You have to have patience my friend .From the time they are born to the time they can have babies is roughly 2 months...then after this every 4-5 weeks they can be berried again .

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому +2

      The winner of the competition is answered when I make a new monthly update video ..which is normally the start of the month.

    Hello Mark I feel like an idiot now I looked in my tank 1 hour ago and saw that another one of my female CRS had just shed its skin and I put some food out so the shrimp will be more active to try and get the to find her to breed with her and I just looked and she has lots of little brown eggs under her tail!! Should have babies in a month YaY

    Thanks

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому

      I dont think I have it in a tank at the moment,I actually removed a little K1 filter from that tank because it was slowing down flow to much ..if I can work it into another filter I will though :)

    Hey Mark 👋 Jessica from the old Canadian Shrimp breeders group. Just curious what you have got running your spray bars?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  4 роки тому

      Hello Jessica !!! long time to see how are you doing ? I used to have a hydor canister and a ehiem canister when I made this video. I actually prefer just multiple sponges over everything now ..I have multiple sponge syndrome !!

    • @OceansMomJL
      @OceansMomJL 4 роки тому

      I've been pretty good just hiding at home checking out the stock market with all this time off lol I hear ya on the sponges ... they are great 👍
      Only reason I am asking about the spray bars is that I might pick up a looong 12g tank thats about 36 inches but short and not very wide front to back either.... think the best way to keep from having dead zones would be a nice long spray bar across the whole top :) You were the first I thought of that has had spray bars running for quite some time:D
      Thanks for they reply! Stay healthy and enjoy your day! :)

    what kind of moss are you using in your tanks? it looks awesome 😃

    • @MarksShrimpTanks

      The big green balls you see are called subwassertang ..I only have one type of moss and its called weeping moss.

    Hey Mark, I want to do a planted shrimp tank and iam going to use Ada Amazonia as well, which type is better for planted tanks the powder or the bigger ones?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому

      I think It just depends what you want the substrate to look like ,The normal type fills alot more space because its bigger. :)

    Hi ,can you give me some advice please.I'm planning to setup a 10gallon CRS tank, I'm using bottle distilled water,I have salty shrimp kh gh + and seachem prime . My tap ph is around 7.2/7.6 .tds 100-110 . Can you tell me how much distilled water should I mix with the tap water? How much salty gh kh should I add in the water ? What tds is right? Thank you so much.

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому +1

      Hi Paul ,You should try this take 2 gallons of tap water and add it into a large bucket ..add 0.2ml of prime and give it a good stir ..leave for a day or two and mix the water every so often. leave the bucket next to your tank if its possible when you do this.
      Remove 2 gallons of water from your tank and clean your filters ect in that same water ..then slowly add your new water back to the tank.
      Your tapwater ph tds ect looks like its good enough for Crystals ..just remember to use the correct dosage of Prime ok :)

    • @baopei23
      @baopei23 8 років тому +1

      Marks Shrimp Tanks Hi mark
      Thanks for your reply,this's what I'm going to do. If I'm wrong please correct me,thanks again.
      1st I'm going to use bottle distilled water (because I can't buy RO machine) can I used distilled water?
      2nd I will add salty shrimp gh kh + add to the distilled water and raised the tds to 100-120
      3rd I have add fluval stratum plants and cycles for month then make a large water change before add shrimp.
      Did I miss out anything?
      Thanks a million!
      Paul

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому +1

      No sound like you have a plan ,It would be in your interest to change water every week though in the beginning until its cycled .

    are the lights for all your tank moderate or high?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому

      I would say my tanks are low light :)

    • @TheChaosofra
      @TheChaosofra 8 років тому

      What lights would you recommend for a 29 gallon tank? And how did you get your subwassertang to grow to such proportions?

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  8 років тому

      Truong Nguyen I think the Subwassertang just like low light and clean water,29 Gallons is roughly120 Liters right ?My middle tank is 190 liters and the lights over it are 2 x36 watt T8s:)
