Mixing Station is nothing but brilliant, I have been using it for years (as soon as the IOS Version was released) on X32C X32R and X18. It is worth $70! an absolute bargain for $7!! Thanks for the great video.
Hi @davidwellington4186, my band is considering purchasing an XAir X18 (not XR18) and we wanted to make sure it would be compatible with the Mixing Station app. From your comment it looks like you're using the X18, not the XR18. If that's the case, can you confirm that the X18 is compatible with the Mixing Station app? Thanks!
@@stewcrew9264 Yes Mixing Station does work with the XAir 18. The XR & XAir mixers use the same internal software, so have the same features. There are differences with the connectors though. The XR18 has TRS balanced Jacks for Ch 17 & 18 inputs, the XAir 18 has RCA connecters. The 6 Aux outs (most commonly used for Monitor feeds) are XLR on the XR18, but are TRS balanced Jacks on the XAir 18. There is no difference in performance, you just need to have adaptor cables. If you have not used any of the X series mixers before here are some things to consider: The internal router is really only intended for setting up and rehearsal situations, an external 5G router is highly recommended for gigs ( the 5G wireless band is much quieter traffic wise as most phones use 2.4G). Mixing station works fine on older Ipads, I use a 4, in a heavy duty case (yes I have dropped one!) a reasonably good battery should last min 3hrs and that is with constant hands on mixing. (the mixer will not be effected if it looses signal and can be set to automatically reconnect when signal returns). I would recommend also getting a laptop (Win XP upwards) with Behringer’s XEdit installed, as this can be connected directly to the XAir by ethernet cable incase you have issues with the WiFi. Mixing Station now supports Midi, so it is possible to use a Behringer Xtouch, BCF2000 etc to control mixing functions. I have upgraded to an X32Rack as this gives a big increase in inputs and outputs, especially as SD8 & SD16 stage boxes can be added (not possible with XR/Air) This is particularly important if a band uses stereo in-ear monitors - the XAir/R18 is limited to 6 mono monitor outputs. Mixing Station is probably the best software I have used (in any situation) and support is excellent with David -the developer- answering questions personally . It is updated and improved with new features pretty much monthly. Cheers Dave
@@AWTechTuesday I’ve been looking for the option but can’t find it. Maybe there has been something wrong with the migration to the new app. Is it called DCA spill now? That’s what it says in the app instead of popgroups.
So... I was basically forced to switch from the xair app since apples wonderful update, but there are a couple of things I'd love to know how to do. One, is put some reverb in my monitor mix, and two, I'd like to put reverb on the mains, and have it stay put. I'm very new at using this app (like a week or two), so sometimes I get lost in the lingo. I had my vocals sounding pristine with my xair app, but now they have some delay, but no reverb. And every time I turn off my xair 12 board, it goes back to the same thing, so I'd like to know how to save it. Thanks!
If your mixer is going back to default after a power cycle, perhaps the internal battery has died. If that’s the case, one cool thing about Mixing Station is that you can save scenes on your tablet as well. Click the Folder icon and go to “Offline Scenes”. Reverb in your monitor is pretty easy. Select your monitor’s bus and then click “Sends on Fader”. Now, look for the layer that says “FX RET”. Here you will find your 4 FX returns. Turn them up in your monitor as you like :) Not exactly your situation but similar concept can be found in this video here - ua-cam.com/video/OWQM47fnVeg/v-deo.html Hope that helps! -Chad
@@AWTechTuesday Thank you so much. I have spent several hours watching vids trying to figure this out. It's like wade in the ocean and find a single drop of water lol! I tried just messing around with it as well, and I did figure out how to add reverb to the mains, but not my aux!! Bless you for helping me out Brother!!! I also play in the worship team at church. It's my happy place! 🙂
@@AWTechTuesday So how did you find the paid version? Every search I've tried at my app store only finds the free version, and I'd love to get the Pro version of the app. Thanks!
May be a stupid question, but how do you get a custom layout to be loaded by default when opening the app? I set my custom layout for default in the layout tab - but it always reverts to the factory default layout.
That’s odd. That doesn’t happen to me. Are you a member of the Mixing Station Facebook group? David, the creator, is on there and he’s super responsive.
@@AWTechTuesday thank you for such a quick reply. I got it to work by going into “Layout settings” and changing the “mode” to “override mixer layout”. I wasn’t aware of the Facebook group but I will be joining. Thank you for that. I’m having one other main issue, I’m not sure if you’ve covered it in any of your videos. I can’t get the FX to sound right, like I want a soft vocal reverb but anything I try to do sounds like the sound is coming from a room down the hall. Do you have a video addressing FX? Thank you again for your time and helping others out like this.
First, thanks for the video and clear explanations. I'm new to both Mixing Station and the A&H QU-16 board my church just acquired, and I'm slightly overwhelmed. I'm doing what I think many may want to do, which is mix live for the room, and then have another mix for streaming. Probably very obvious, but after watching a number of videos and reading up, I can't figure out how to achieve this. Now I've got a LR feed, and then a "Mix 1" feed for streaming, which accommodate separate volume levels per fader, but not separate EQ settings. How do I configure Mixing Station to have have independent EQ settings at the touch of a button?
Unfortunately that’s not something you can really do with that mixer. This video is for a different mixer but the concept is the same: EQ your speakers outputs so you can set a baseline for your mixer. If you are successful, your EQs in the room will sound good online too. m.ua-cam.com/video/pzDcHUSYB_A/v-deo.html
Hello! I'm Vietnamese, very happy to follow your channel. Currently, I'm not familiar with RTA on the X32 behringer, use the x32 card's card, I hope you have a video tutorial, please let me know. ? Thank you very much.
Great app. I use it for IEM on Bus 6 X18. Have you found that creating a custom layout is somewhat restricted as far as the details of the layout (moving, sizing buttons, how many channel strips you can select, colors, etc.)? Is this because the main FOH computer has ultimate control over much of this? Must I be connected to the X18 to create a custom layout on the Bus? Also, can you migrate a custom layout to a new device?
Hey Steve! I find that keeping things simple is the best approach. I can get around the app incredibly quickly by just using the tips listed in this video combined with the layout the developer starts you with. But that’s just my approach :) Thanks for watching and commenting! -Chad
Hello I mixing station a question please is it possible to record a scene and at the same time a layers. Because when I save a scene the layouts and not saved thank you
Hey thanks for the video it's very insightful! We use a SOUNDCRAFT UI24r, which is now supported by the app. We play together with 8 people and everyone has their own aux channel for in ear monitoring. Do you know if it's possible to create a button in the app which allows me to mute one channel (my Guitar) for every aux except of my own? So I can noodle around in the rehearsal without bothering anyone...
Interesting idea. It looks like the answer is yes. You can make a button that has a bunch of commands to alternate the on button for your channel for a bunch of different mixes (excluding yours). I tested it offline since I don’t have one of those mixers nearby but it should be fine :) -Chad

There’s nothing special needed for Mixing Station to work across multiple devices. If you move something on one device, you will see that same change happen on other devices (assuming you’re looking at the same channel or parameter).
