I second rdmitch44028's comment. I too have watched it several time and it has helped me set up my iPad for a couple of upcoming concerts that I am running sound for. Thank you!
A small win, perhaps - you could use a Mute Group button for the band mics/sources in that blank space next to their channels. Just lump them in a mute group, then make a button to turn it on and off.
Hello I would like to know if it was possible to create in layout a hand mono m/c thank you Bonjour je voudrais savoir si cela était possible de créer en layout un main mono M/C merci
I am a newbie. Thank you for indulging me. I can get sound to my speakers, but having trouble getting individual effects, like reverb, etc to each individual channel. I see Buttons on the FX for Inserts and a button that says insert mode. Do any of these need to be selected for basic functioning of getting effects to the channels?
Greetings. Sorry for my delay. For FX I would use a mix bus to send a mix of channels you want to the reverb (or whatever). Then the "reverb" channel shows up as an effect return for the FX rack. If I can help further email me. bignoteaudio at gmail dot com
@@kvarnbymusik5608 I think you are referring to the SoF List. It has the "mute enable" button and then "fine" button. Then the Selectable sends on fader. I'm guessing.
@@kvarnbymusik5608 I don't own this tablet specifically. I have an older Lenovo android tablet and the files look different than the ipad version so they may not translate. Let me know if I can help more.
I usually don't ride the master fader. I like to pass my inputs to subgroups and attenuate before it leaves the console. However in a "run and gun" situation I'll run the LR Stereo at -10 to -15 dbFS and route to the matrixes for speaker outputs. (which stay at unity to start) This way all my input dynamics operate in a range that is usable rather than having to set thresholds super low. Does that make sense?
Yes. More so that I can run my input gain higher giving me the best available signal to noise, then keeping the channel fader around unity so I have the most fader travel for small adjustments. Here's the video of Scovill explaining how he does it. It's a lecture but great information. ua-cam.com/video/khBHcfyI5e8/v-deo.html
thanks for the great concise info. too many videos make use of the edit program which not everyone uses. I know some do but the ipad/android seem to be more popular. A few questions possibly you could address: One you build your “ideal mix” is it saved in the app, or in the mixer ? There has to be a way to save it so you can build mixes for multiple bands or venues. What’s the purpose of MS scenes if i can’t save there. I know on my X32 i can store setups in the mixers scene section. What the heck is the offset for and i also see the option of bring to foreground or background. No clue and nothing in the manual community or videos
The way I think about it is, mixing station is only a remote control. For saving settings that you can recall for different bands use the scenes function in the actual x32. In mixing station think of it like a controller only. You can build whatever controls you like but it "reads" the information from the console for settings. For the offset it's for adapting to setups. I used it to change which channel was controlled by midi. Midi uses "0" for the "1" position. I haven't done this in a while so perhaps you can tell me more about what you are doing. Happy to continue the conversation. bignoteaudio@gmail.com
@@bignoteaudio2544 I only used the X32 as an example of saving a scene. to date I am using MS for X-air and for Mackie DL32 units. It seems like there is really no way to save a program on those applications. I am going to try to see if I can compose the program on the native software and save it and then open it with MS. I've tried saving to MS scenes, snapshots, and every option. I can modify the settings in the edit mode by making a copy of a layout (to meet a specific needed band layout) but I dont see anyway to name it other than copy. anyway, definitely appreciate your videos and replies.
Hello I mixing station a question please is it possible to record a scene and at the same time a layers. Because when I save a scene the layouts and not saved thank you
Hi. Layers are saved with mixing station. The scene for the mixer is saved in the mixer. They are separate things that need to be saved separate. You can save your layout in the layout tab under the gear icon in mixing station. Then click the folder icon in the upper right. You can save layouts and layers here. Hope that helps. Thanks.
Lou, Currently I use two scenes. One for a Big Band that I run sound for (6 instrument, 2 vocal, monitor & LR channels. 10 total channels) and a second scene for visiting DJs (two input, monitor & LR channels. 4 total channels), that connect to the sound system. Can multiple LR Mix Mixer Views be created? I don’t see how. With the Big Band view, the channel order is as follows; 1,7,4,5,6,12,11,12, Bus4, LR. For the DJ view the order is 1,2, Bus5, LR. Is this possible? Thank you, Chris.
You can make a locked down set of "channel "strips" in the layout. These would be added individually. My simpler suggestion would be to dedicate channels to the band and DJ and use the custom layers to bring up the channels you want to see. So in your example, Use the band channels in one layout and the dj channels in another. This is, IF you have extra input channels. Happy to help further. bignoteaudio at gmail dot com

Can I transfer the mixing station program itself from one android device to another? I Have it on my samsung phone, and would like to use it on a couple of LG G pad 7.0. Or, do i have to purchase it for each device?
Great video Lou....I followed this video right through and have set up my mixer view identical to yours on my Android tablet for XR18 mixer. There is one issue however that has occurred and I'm wondering if you might have a solution....I've set up my SoF buses to flash with corresponding colors on the channel strips when the bus is activated...Ex Bus 1-all strips flash Red, Bus 2-strips flash Green etc....once everything is set up I then save the layout....if I quit the application then restart it, once I reload the same layout, all my channel strips go back to flashing grey when the buses are activated...have you ever run into this?...if so, is there a solution that you know of?....much appreciated..thanks and cheers....Gary
Per our conversation: I think this is due to working offline and the mix bus color going back to the default white color. I think if you connect back to your mixer you will see the colors of the mixbus.
Great video, but when I click on a fader it doesn't select that channel, so it makes the buttons down the left pointless because I have to click on the scribble strip to select it which opens up the channel strip. Second issue is all my mix buses are called "MixBus" by default, and not Bus 01, Bus 02, etc., so how do I change that? I can rename them on the scribble strip but that only applies to whatever scene I'm in.
Hi. Thanks. To get the fader touch select, that is a preference in the app settings. I'm not sure where but it's in the channel strip setup. You make "fader touch" select the channel. Second issue, in the layout setup you have to label those buttons as [chname] or possibly [sofname]. more here: dev-core.org/ms-docs/custom-layouts/#label-tags
Thank you for your help in resolving these. Just one more thing, when I select a bus the mixer background always just changes to green and not the selected color for that bus. I set it to flash and that works ok, and is very useful so I don’t forget I’m mixing a bus!.
