We sang this song for uil last year (my eighth grade year) in varsity choir, and it brought most of us to tears. If you are singing this song, I want you to know this so you can sing with more emotion. This song is about the holocaust and it's basically a little girl realizing she's gonna die, and she's saying "who will cry out for me when I'm dead?". Our choir did a little project where we each picked a picture of a real girl who went through the holocaust to keep with us, and we researched that girl and learned they're story. So we each had a girl to sing for, it was very emotional, it took that song from a two and we made it a ten, from the amount of emotion we put into it. I still have that picture of my girl, Renate Krochmal, and every time I see her I remember my experience learning about the cruel event and everything I gained from it. Again, if you are singing this song, I strongly encourage you to research and learn about this event, and maybe pick out a girl for yourself so that when you're singing, you have a purpose, you're singing to that girl. Beautiful song, and a strong message.
I’m in choir and we’re singing this for a concert in a month and we’re currently working on the solfedge but looking at the lyrics and learning what it was about (because the booklet with the music said for a girl at auschwitz) I almost cried but didn’t because all the kids would’ve stared at me but I feel a very emotional connection to this song and it sounds beautiful these people did a very good job

I remember singing this song in one of my choirs in Nebraska. It was such a beautiful song. I was in that choir for about six years and they felt like a home/family to me. They were all such beautiful singers. The choir is called Naova (Nebraska Academy of Vocal Arts). Around a year ago my family moved from Nebraska to Arizona and I had to leave them, and just now, when I’m listening to this song, I realize how much they meant to me. My director played a huge part in my life and today, I’m beginning to want that back. I’m starting to think I should’ve thanked her more than I have because of how much she improved my voice and how much she cared for me. I miss the church we sang at, the retirement home where we sang for elders every year, the other singers, the director and pianist. This is one of the MAIN THINGS that is making me want to move back to Nebraska. This song is bringing back memories and I sang it with Naova in 2018!

My school and another in our district both took this song to UIL and many people told us that we sang it better (We were backstage and couldn’t hear the other choir so idk how true this is) I feel the only reason Is because we had done that project and formed an emotional connection to the song opposed to the other school who didn’t. Even now I kinda zone out when I hear it

Very nice mellow almost "dark" sound. Lovely dresses, and girls watch the director very attentively. That being said, it is very "vowel-ly" and not nearly enough clear consonants. It may be an audio problem. As others noted, I completely missed the "H" sound in WHO which is very needed. The few consonants I heard (mainly just a "T") were overdone, and the rest were completely overlooked. That being said, what a bunch of BEAUTIFUL VOICES. The tone is darn near perfect, and it's clear this is an "audition only" choir. Either that, or this director has perfectly trained those girls to listen to one another. Brava!
