Patina Paint Tutorial on the Element Ecto body!

- Recently I had suggested to fellow UA-camr, RCU in the shed, that he paint a used body he picked up in a patina style to cover up the fluorescent orange it had been previously painted. He asked if I could show in a video how I do my patina paint jobs and I agreed that I would. Well here ya go Mark, I hope you find this info helpful!
I decided to use the Element Ecto body, which I had recently been using on Sgt Rock, for the demo seeing as I have just picked up the single cab CreepER body for Sarge. Since the body had been painted a couple of times before, both inside and outside, I figured it would be perfect to use in the tutorial.
I think the patina paint job on the Ecto came out great and if I hadn't already picked up the CreepER single cab I would definitely be rolling this one again!

Great job
Thanks bro! I like to do the painting as well as the building!
That looks amazing man!! Great job and thanks for sharing bro!😁✌
Thanks brother! It turned out pretty good for a quickie tutorial! The Ecto will be a backup body for the G Speed SCX10II which will be getting a new CreepER single cab!
Great tutorial, straight to the point. What color is that c10 you painted?
Hi J, I'm glad you liked the video! I answered the paint question on the other comment! Thanks for watching my vids!
That's awesome! Definitely using that technique when I get my ecto! Gained a sub from me dude good work! Saying hi from the UK 🇬🇧
@@richardwinsonRC thanks Richard! I’m glad I was able to give you some good ideas for your Ecto! Also thanks for the sub, I really appreciate all the support!
Paint pen you recommend?
I use paint pens from Hobby Lobby, the brand is called "Painters" and I really like the silver argent plateado in metallic for the chrome highlights, it works pretty well! I hope this info helps, thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Looks great. New subscriber 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks bro! It turned out better than I thought it would! Thanks for subbing!
So...any paint that says for plastic will work on the bare body? Or for initial painting on a fresh lid will you need something specifically made for them?
Hi Chad, yeah I prep the body by sanding the outside areas that will be painted (like a 120 grit). I usually paint the inside the same color so if it does flake or scratch off it's not too obvious. I make sure that the paint does say it's made for plastic and a primer coat definitely helps to keep it from flaking off too badly but on lexan it will get some flaking. I try not to put the paint on too heavy, just a couple of light coats should do the trick! Good luck!
That looks awesome bro nice job the steps should be easy enough to follow I've never attempted this style before should be interesting at least I can start straight after work tomorrow now 💪 thank you for making this vid bro 👊
You got it brother! I can't wait to see how yours comes out!
@@CactusCrawlersRC hey bro I'd like to include a clip of your video in mine to show where I'm getting my information from I'll give full credit on the screen state verbally what and who I'm watching and put a link in the description to your channel and the video but only if it's ok with you
@@rcuintheshed6981 Heck yeah brother, go ahead! That would be awesome!
Looks awesome, cool paint job
Thanks Duke! The tutorial was something I did for another UA-camr! I'm glad you liked it!
Not bad at all. Probably much cheaper, easier, and quicker than store bought options. 👍
Thanks DirtyPlumbus! I agree that it can be done much cheaper if using big box store paints and can have awesome results! Thanks for watching!
wow the end of the painting is a beautiful rust effect, 💯full of patience and painstaking thanks for the knowledge Friend 👍🤝
Thanks for watching the video! Yeah, I really like the way the rust effect came out. I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
