I bought 2 of these 1800kv motors for a RC4WD Bully II MOA build, but the cans are way too long. I ended up going with two 1800kv HH Revolver V3's and two CC SW4 esc's. I love the performance of the HH/CC combo, but it literally SCREAMS so loud that it prohibits back yard runs. I considered going to these shorter Fusion SE motors as they would fit in the Bully II, but it is clear they are not as good as the original. Thanks for the video!!
I run a Fusion SE and as far as good solid performance goes, it's there. The Fusion Pro is great only if you want to have the ability to have basic braking and the ability to adjust punch, cause the Fusion SE has the ability to do everything else for half the price. Just my two cents.
Thanks for your great work,I'm new to the RC crawler scene but I use your channel to learn so much about rc parts, accessories and upgrades etc...such a good channel
I have 3 Pro's and 2 SE's, also had 3 of the pre pro Fusions. The SE for the price is amazing, but I would say with the 40amp ESC it is more conducive to lighter trail trucks or small wheel trucks, whereas the Pro would be better for precision crawling and heavier trucks with its 60amp ESC. The Pro is by far the best one, but it's almost double the price.
Doing research on a motor & ESC for a custom recreation of my brother's boat. It does not have to be a all-in-one unit. But from reviews on this channel these motor combos looks impressive. The RC boat is going to be 2ft in length. Printed out of PLA plastic. Is either of these hobywing motor combos a good choice? Or for a boat should I look for a different motor combo. I know Hobbywing make a stand-a-lone water proof ESC. Also, this boat is not designed to be a high speed racing boat. His full sized boat only goes 8-10 Knots under full power. Thank You.
@@johnm.gerard1718 Hi, I dont know much about boats, all I know is that water resistance on the prop is way more than one thinks. If its a very slow boat these would work, but the safest and best bet would be to get a boat specific motor and esc that suites what you want to do with the boat. Waterproof is a must IMO and watercooled would also be a good thing.
Great review once again! Seeing how HW is deep into all in one’s I can’t believe Castle hasn’t responded yet. Interesting to see if they release their own version this year.
Great video, thank you. I have the se 1200kv in a capra axle lcg rig. Works well but needs to be geared up a bit (18t pinion on stock spur and transmission). I think the 1800kv would be the way to go for most applications. I also have two axe systems, theres not a huge difference in start up speed and the ease of installation makes the fusion type systems a no brainer. Only disadvantage is the weight penalty where the smaller outrunner and heli base escs would be lighter if that's a concern.
I picked up the 1200, but after seeing how much slower it is when compared to the brushed motor. I think I am going to trade up to the 1800KV. I think that will be better for my Ecto
I preordered mine way back… Hobbywing recommended on there official UA-cam video. Do the automatic motor pairing . Right out the gate !! On all the fusion’s.. I have it in my trx4 sport with a 15t pinion gear .. it’s the s*** on low low and I have wheel speed too 💯💯👌
Thanks for the information in this video!! I love the Fusions I have. I've purchased the new version of the 1800 just haven't installed it yet. I can't wait to see your running comparison video of the two or three setups!! Thanks for the great content!!!
Great review! I have an SE and a pro, both are great. My switch failed on the pro due to letting water in so I joined the red wires and now it works again but no on/off switch.
I've got both, and I way prefer the 2300. It is smoother and slows down more controlled, so less endos. The 1800 seems more powerful and torquey, which is amazing for the price. Nice review 👍🍺🇬🇧
Good comparison video Francess, now I would think even tho the low speed of the SE isn't quite as low as the Pro on a table that once you install it in a 7 lb truck and start to throttle you wouldn't be able to notice the difference between the 2 ye, no ?
Nope, the ultra low speed actually translates to exactly that in a rig. I have the pro and an 1800 se. The SE just doesn't have the ultra slow crawl but that's not really needed anyways.
Sorry to the rest but just the best reviews here! Unbiased and well delivered. Not a fan of the zip tie though wanna see em in a truck with you using trigger to slow roll. I have og Fusion and it’s hard to imagine one much better lol
I love the HW stuff. I have a few versions of the Axe and one of the Fusion Pros. The biggest thing about HW versus the other brands is just how quiet they are. I had a Castle system similar to the AXE and it was whiny and loud, also had a larger footprint believe it or not. The AXE works great in higher speed MT's and mud trucks, not sure on the fusion though mine is in a very heavy truck and I haven't had any issues mudding or crawling.
I'm currently running one of the 1800kv fusion motors in a WLTOYs 144001 buggy (FOC turned off, low drag brake) and it absolutely kills - the motor control is so precise.

How is it to service this motor and replace the bearings in it? I run my RCs hard and often in wet conditions and I often find myself having to remove the bearings from my motors and either clean and re-lubricate or even replace them. With the traditional separate motor ESC combos in my rigs this is usually quite easy, but with the fusions being combined into the motor I question how easy this is to do.
So i got the hobby wing fusion se i have run three batterie packs through it and its amazing except on the fourth battery pack on a 2s lipo in a a traxxas trx 4 it caught on fire and haven’t quite figured out why it caught the truck on fire but im taking it down to my hobby store today to figure out why
So with this only being fwd/reverse and no brake, what happens when you hit the "break" it goes straight into reverse? Is that something that can be adjusted so you still have that delay like a brake?
Hi Thank you for the very helpful video. I have an Integy MC01 Super Class Monster Crawler Pro Kit 1/8th It needs two motors for each axial. Will two Fusion SE 1200kv have enough power to run the truck? also enough to drag a baby stroller? Or do you have other motors to recommend? What is an good ESC for them? I have DuraTrax LiPo Onyx 2S 7.4V 5000mAh 35C Hard Case Battery with Deans Plug DTXC1965 is it the right one for the system?

I have an 11.2lb Gen 8 and I was going to update the esc to a 1080 g2 and then later get the trailmaster 21t. I like the idea of drag brake switching on the fly. Would it be better to just spend the money on the SE?
I replaced a 1080+540/35t combo with an SE 1800kv on my custom build and wow, it can do things now. Performance boost is incredible and overall predictability of the rig is a new level. I was aware of the fact that SE isn't as good at super low RPMs as Pro, but honestly, do we need them that much? I don't think so. Anyway, I'm amazed with this thing. Hopefully it'll last long, because the biggest downside of Fusion family for me is that all of them are almost non-serviceable.
Mine should be here Saturday. Putting it in a budget TRX4 Sport build. I have a high end built TRX4 Sport but I want to compare a budget build to a high cost build.
I'm looking to upgrade from standard to brushless in my trx4 bronco. Will using the Fusion brushless motor/ESC in the review lose my ability to change modes from Crawl to Trail? Meaning, can the motor drag brake be turned off like standard Traxxas Trail mode ?
When you say CRAWLER do you mean slow rock crawling only? I’m new to this and want a trail truck to explore and want some trail speed as well as torque for some climbing! Are either of these possible for a faster trail rig or only for crawling?
I run the pro in 2 trx4s currently, Holmes brushed in the third (sport), I will likely be swapping the pro into the sport and putting the 1800kv SE into the 2 speed trx4runner

Would this work on the capra with stock skid? Im looking for a brushless option for the capra but I know you have to stick with 540 size motors, if this one does not could I get a suggestion on what you might go for?
I own the standard old-school fusion. I have one of the new pro models and I’ll probably get one of these for my girlfriends rig. These things are amazing and for that price a 1080 and a decent motor is going to cost you about the same money this is kind of a no-brainer.

I bought the 1800kv Fusion Pro soon after they were released. My crawler has never performed better. FOC is almost cheating lol it's that good. If you're thinking to buy this system, do it.. Driving is so much nicer and smoother. All the programming makes a fantastic addition to your crawler I cannot say enough good things. AND it's quiet!!!
Thanks for showing it man, I have a few questions: I have the AXE system in my Gen 8 Axe does that have FOC, if so can it be turned on or off like with the Fusion Pro? Next the 40A vs 60A, does it make a big difference? Finally do you have or would you compare the HW Fusion Pro vs the Spektrum Firma 2 in 1 2300kv, I heard it's similar to Fusion Pro made by Hobbywing?
I'm looking forward to this one! I am wondering if you are familiar with the Firma 2-in-1 Crawler Motor + ESC. I am trying to use a NiMh battery with it for indoor use as opposed to using a LiPo for now. It seems like the motor isn't responding to the NiMh battery, and it shuts down after 30 seconds. Could it be that it needs to be programmed? And that would mean I need to purchase something extra to program it with this motor? Sorry for the long question... I just wanted to throw this out there in case someone had some info about it!
Hobbywing makes products for spektrum so essentially the spektrum 2in1 is nothing but a fusion inside. Spektrum sells a separate programming card for the 2in1 you'll have to program the motor to run on nimh batteries.
I have a trx4 21 bronco and for me its a all around truck i bash it slightly and crawl it when i upgraded to the 1800kv fusion se i was dumbfounded i could crawl even slower and the FOC function blew me away i also got way more top speed in 2nd gear
I was just about to buy a brushed system for a Tanya Jeep YJ roller I stumbled across at an incredible deal. At this price I could pull the system from a trx4 for the Tamiya and have upgrade for the trx4 🤗🤗 The no brake option kills it for me though. Just not at all scale driving IMO :/
@@MoppelMat yes understand that lol. I like using the break with the controller not using solely motor braking. I know it works fine for crawling. I use the mode a lot. I just don’t like it for trail riding, scale driving, etc.
So, what was your experience in use comparison? Hobbymate is currently holding my money hostage with zero reply to comments in the last 10 days. Ready to use, but wouldn't mind seeing
I have both motors. The pro is way better than the SE. But the SE is also good for the buck. I have a problem with the SE, its not recognized by the card or the box. Therefor i can not programm it. My dealer contacted Hobbywing to solve this issue.
Yeah, I think the 2300kv is strong enough for some applications. On 3s, that translates to 29,000 rpm with good torque. The only issue is this Fusions are sensored motors. So it gives up some punch in favor of low speed modulation.
The specs on the SE are pretty much the same as the original fusion, Just cheaper and shorter. I replaced an original with one and cant tell the difference in performance.

Hobbywing makes products for spektrum so essentially the spektrum 2in1 is nothing but a fusion inside. Spektrum sells a separate programming card for the 2in1 you'll have to program the motor to run on nimh batteries.
@@ShivamSingh-ud5ik I appreciate that very much. I will need to get myself a programming card. Thank you very much!
I have a trx4 21 bronco and for me its a all around truck i bash it slightly and crawl it when i upgraded to the 1800kv fusion se i was dumbfounded i could crawl even slower and the FOC function blew me away i also got way more top speed in 2nd gear
I just put the same one in my trx high trial f150.
Crawls nice and slow up and down everything.
Then you can lock the diffs and do a wheelie.
I was just about to buy a brushed system for a Tanya Jeep YJ roller I stumbled across at an incredible deal.
At this price I could pull the system from a trx4 for the Tamiya and have upgrade for the trx4 🤗🤗
The no brake option kills it for me though. Just not at all scale driving IMO :/
You can brake with it! If you go to 0 throttle it stops instantly and if you ease it off, it stops slowly. You drive!
@@MoppelMat yes understand that lol.
I like using the break with the controller not using solely motor braking. I know it works fine for crawling. I use the mode a lot. I just don’t like it for trail riding, scale driving, etc.
Can I import it directly to South Afrika from Home hobbies.
Francis do you have the 1800 se to compare with 1200 se , with only a $10 increase I'm leaning towards the 1800. What's your thoughts?
Most definitely the 1800kv. I'm not really sure yet why one would opt for the 1200
@@RCReviewChannel I was thinking about a 1200kv for my straight axle crawler
Hi! Can we put this on Toyota fj 40?
Nice review trying to save money will this fit the Axial Capra?
Yes. 550 motors don't fit the Capra but this is a little shorter than a 550 can motor.
I have the fusion pro and I love it, have the SE on back order 🤙🏽
I want to get one what is better 1800 or 1200kv its 30€more.
Very Naice Review!!!! And will both Hobbywing Fusion fit in a TRX without having to change steering servo location?
Yes
@@mcsbikelife3829 Thks! And for a TRX 6 with (in the future) brass 1800kv ou 2300kv? For me torque is the most important!
i think this is more suitable for trailing truck. but the fusion pro is for rock crawler
So, what was your experience in use comparison? Hobbymate is currently holding my money hostage with zero reply to comments in the last 10 days. Ready to use, but wouldn't mind seeing
Whats the best servo for 100 looking one for kraton exb
I have both motors. The pro is way better than the SE. But the SE is also good for the buck. I have a problem with the SE, its not recognized by the card or the box. Therefor i can not programm it. My dealer contacted Hobbywing to solve this issue.
Hello. Which one would be best for slowly climbing steep slopes or rocks with the trx-4 defender? se 1800 or pro 2300?
Gutted it isn’t shorter than the SE, need to fit one in my MST Jimny!
I ordered the 1800kv SE about 2 months ago, when might i receive it?
I ordered mine about them too. I just got it maybe 2 days ago. I'm guessing you will get yours soon.
Are any of these 2 in 1 systems powerful or fast enough for a non crawler setup?
Yeah, I think the 2300kv is strong enough for some applications. On 3s, that translates to 29,000 rpm with good torque. The only issue is this Fusions are sensored motors. So it gives up some punch in favor of low speed modulation.
@@RCReviewChannel Isn't it a good thing that it has sensors?
I have quite a few of both of them so simple!
r these good for off road buggies too?
The specs on the SE are pretty much the same as the original fusion, Just cheaper and shorter. I replaced an original with one and cant tell the difference in performance.
I’m still waiting for the auto drag brake from the axe to make it into the fusion.
Love your videos. Thank you!
Great comparison, really helpful😊👍
Very cool. More room for batteries in a small car. Thanks for sharing.
Waiting for field tests
What kv's does it come
The lack of Punch adjustment is pretty big. The 2300Kv is more punchy
Great comparison video as always 👌
Does it have FOC?
Will motor heat cook the inside esc
Nope
