Philodendrons are great and come in so many colors now. A word of caution, for those that don't know the leaves (only the leaves) are poisonous, their toxicity will not affect your fish as long as the leaves are kept out of the aquarium.

Houseplants literally saved our lives! All of our plants except the submerged plants started dying this winter. Some were 30 years old and some were brand new. One day I noticed that the plants in the guest bedroom were fine. The only difference was that we had closed off the heating vent. I called a local company, three weeks later they showed up and I heard the guy scream " Open all the God damn windows!" 😂 so a new furnace later he told me that it had been leaking a poisonous gas for at least a year and we should be dead. They refused to leave until it was done.

My peace lily, philodendron, and pothos collection do a solid job with bio filtration and they're absolutely stunning to look at. Bro did you also know that pothos can be trained to grow UNDER WATER?I had saw on some other dudes channel that they cant breath oxygen underwater and die but that is 100% not the case. I successfully keep pothos completely submerged in all 8 of my tanks and have done so for 1.5 years now. So vibrant and green and my fish and frogs love it!!! You should test it out and do a video on it. I feel like most people arent aware! If you do, just know that the Pothos will shed a few leaves during the acclimation period but once those root balls start to sprout in a few weeks, it will stabilize and eventually even grow new leaves underwater! THANK you, for correctly calling Adansonii the "Swiss cheese plant"! I recently learned that the Monstera Delisiosa that my mum has always called a "Split-leaf Philodendron" isn't a philodendron at all, but so many people call it the "Swiss cheese plant"! All you have to do is look at the Adansonii to know that THAT'S the Swiss cheese plant!

I've used Golden Pothos in guppy/betta low tech tanks ❤️Keeps the water absolutely pristine (aside from the weekly water changes)Currently have tonnes of Pothos with my Goldfish (till they get a bigger tank).

I never thought of spider plant! And I’ve never even heard of the iris. I’m using sweet potato and pothos currently. I’ll have to give them a try!

Also, the umbrella plant, schefflera. It grows like crazy in my tanks, it takes some time before it roots, but when it does it loves to grow in water. And the roots are really beautiful. I have it in all my betta tanks….

I'm a big fan of using filter foam in back chambers if you've got them. Roots don't necessarily "like" light and will grow fuzzy and fluffy in an oxygen rich environment. Those fuzzy root tips will soak up exponential nutrients.

Ive been experimenting with random plants (that were being thrown out at work) seeing what would grow out the tops of tanks. I have 4 out of 5 of your top 5 already aha. Didnt have the Spider plant, curious about the mondo!
Ive also have success with some types Peperomia sp. , which is ironic since the bunnings label says it does not like wet feet. Keep up the amazing work! Ive also tried some different types of Alocasia's, Hoya's, Ficus pumila minima - creeping fig, and they've all done fantastic. Yet to experiment with different types of mangroves sources from local areas!

I do this also but I cut about a 1.5”-2” slice of grey pool noodles and then just stick the trimmed end of your cutting through it and place it at an open edge of your aquarium. It stabilizes it nicely. And like you said I have roots start in a little over a week. I’m gonna try floating an avocado seed next.

I grow peace lilies out of the weir/overflows in my reef ready tank. They grow like crazy, constantly new leaves and flowers growing. My wife is tired of getting bouquets of white lily flowers at this point. Otherwise, I grow a ton of pothos out of all my tanks, but haven't ventured much into other plants. I'll give some of these a try to change the look up a little.
