This is the most relaxing aquarium setup video I've ever seen. I wonder if we sometimes become too perfectionistic about an ecosystem needing water filters, CO2 systems, various substrates, and chemicals, forgetting about a natural ecosystem like this one.
I have a big aquarium (besides 5 other smaller aquariums I have) but I'm just too lazy to maintain it, has been months without water change, the water has gone 45% and needed to turn off the hang on filter (the water level is to low), The water is brown. The fish still alive without oxygen, the vallisneria-gigantea almost took over the tank. Yes, aquarium with plants needs no extensive maintenance.
@peaceofnaturee Currently, I am with my 20 gallon long (yet to reveal it on my channel atm). But at some point, I wanna go bigger like you and many others who enjoy a huge slice of nature indoors. One day, it WILL happen. It just may take longer.

Tank size and the amount of plants and fish is why no filtration can work. If you have a small tank, it's harder to achieve. But balance between plants and the amount of fish is key.
You’re so right. It’s possible to make no filter in small tanks too, as you said balance is so important. In coming weeks I will publish a video about nano filterless tank with nano fish.
Earlier this week after a few months of preparation I finished setting up my first fish tank. I'm applying the same philosophies as you and watching your journey with this thank excites me about the journey I am about to embark on with mine. You were an absolute inspiration in determining what I wanted my fish thank to be and for that I will be eternally grateful.
oh man, i'm watching this video now as i just bought a beginners tank for my and my kids to just try, when i saw your tank now i feel so eagre to go your way someday and create such an incredible eco system, i really appreciate all the effort and time you spent on your tank, it's so beautiful 🥰
Has demostrado que no hay límites en el Acuarismo, y con paciencia y de la manera más natural se puede tener este hermoso hobby; Felicidades desde México 🇲🇽
I just want congratulate you on this beautiful tank. A few years back I've also created a self sustaining eco tank just adding water when needed and pruning the plants. Once the tank was established I stopped feeding my fish and and the fish just started breeding and multiply. Corry's bred tetras bred and the whole tank just flourished. The biggest key to success is to keep the tank well balanced. I so happy to see there is more people believing that it is possible as the over whelming idea of keeping a healthy aquarium is so based on filters and water change water change and water change. For those who wants to try it be patient and don't disturb the substrate and dont re-scaoe the tank leave it to set in. Beautiful tank well done❤
I gave up on having a fish tank after 15 years because it was annoying cleaning the water. I was a kid so I didn't know much about water or how to combat algie but at some point I did achieve this only to ruin it by changing too much water I realize that now. No filter tanks are the way to go.
I wanna say floating plants HELPS ALOT in these tank, i have a 15g tank but use a small hob filter with 0 water change after 2-3 months of cycle, it is doing really well now lol
This is the way they're meant to be setup. I've got a 75g with soil and sand substrate, tons of plants, hundreds of cherry shrimp, a few amano shrimp, a nerite snail, tons of pest snails, ottos, khuli loaches and a pile of guppies. No water changes, no fertilizers, no filters, no heater and it's thriving. No algae and no issues, looks beautiful.
Sounds like a dream tank. Btw if the reason you only have one nerite snail is because you don't want them to overpopulate, they won't breed in freshwater. Maybe you just already have enough snails but I figured I'd say this just in case.
I own an empty aquarium. Its dimensions are 50*50*50 cm. My friend, who follows you on your page, told me... First... about the clay substrate, how high should it be... and then the second layer of sand, how high should it be? ..and how many plants should we plant...and finally the lighting, how many hours should it be on...and I am sorry for the long question.. I am following you from Palestine
I always felt these setups were missing more invertebrates. There's more to a freshwater ecosystem than just fish, snails, and shrimp. There should be scuds for detritus and as a food source, freshwater worms for biofilm, rotifers, isopods, etc. With less fish, you may not even need to feed them if the tank had all these invertebrates.
Nice informative relaxed video. Kids play sand is a good cheap source of river sand, 15KG for £3. Its not always river sand so read the info on the back. I just spent days rinsing the play sand I got, and it's still isn't clean. I should have researched what is in that particular sand before buying. I'll be giving it to the chickens for baths and buying pool filter sand and blasting sand for fish tanks.
All my tanks except the external big pond have no filter and Cristal clear water, I still don't understand why people get so amazed with that. As if nature needs an electric filter for its ponds and lakes...
Some ponds do work well with no filter, rising and falling with the seasons, but most natural lakes and ponds are fed by a river or spring and have an output beyond simple evaporation, flow and water change are part of most natural waters, obviously the Dead Sea has no output beyond evaporation.

No matter how many shrimps are in there. What are you not telling us? Did you change some plants? Just be honest. The final aquarium is great btw.
Yes, what he is telling you works. The two main causes of algae are too much light and too much feeding of the fish. This is the first time I have seen the video's from this person, but there are literally hundreds from Father Fish. I set up a 75 gallon tank using his method a year ago and it is flourishing to this day. It is set up very close to this method, no filter, lots of plants and fish, very little fish feeding, only about twice a week, and the water has stayed almost crystal clear and I just replenish the evaporated water every couple of months, but I have a lid on it so there is very little evaporation. Go to UA-cam and search on Father Fish. You will be amazed. It is very simple and pretty much maintenance free.

Oh my god I want this for my 65g so bad. I've made so many mistakes getting that tank going I'd love to be able to dial it back and do something like this and go back to enjoying the experience again.
Try putting more natural pauses in the text to speech by making shorter clips. That way you can adjust the timing in post. But beautiful tank and thanks for including the steps.
I like a little surface agitation to keep biofilm off the top of the water, a filter usually brings that but I could see just doing a small powerhead near the top.
I use peace lillies , spider lillies, and photos plants on my tanks..I have a 48 year old Monstera ...each leaf is 2 metre in diameter..No way I could put some of her branches to grow into any tank. However there are cultivated smaller growing versions..so maybe I get one of those 😊

Just stumbled on your video and watched facinated. Great stuff, thank you for sharing. Who knows one day I might with any one or all of my five grand kids?
great video, I am a bit further on the same journey and wanted to share some of my experiences (been going 2 years). After around 6 months the soil started to be depleted of nutrients. I first started to feed more which had no effect, then I added fertilizer in the water column which helped start an algea bloom. The solution for me was eventually adding root tabs. What is your plan once the soil is depleted? I know the idea is that the fish waste would provide enough nutrients for the plants but this didn't work for me.
I found a small flaw in the information about the assassin snail. The assassin snail also eats large snails, there are video's about it. He has like a small saw mouth and puncture his pray. Small or big. They also can eat weak shrimp or shrimps that are molding

Thank you for making & sharing this HUGE endeavor. Proof that bigger is better ❣ Your demonstration of how to control algae is such a key lesson in aquascaping, Such a beautiful creation ! One thing that I'm wondering about, and to some, the most important stage of aquarium culture, is the "cycling" of this huge slice of paradise. Did you skip this step ? Also, is there overhead lighting for the Monstera plant, or is it surviving on just the aquarium lighting ?

Ohh man !! It's fascinating than anything. In future, I absolutely want to have done this .
Really nice video. Thanks. I am gonna try this when my aquarium gets to small.
One of the best aquarium setup, I seen ever congratulations
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Wirklich schön geworden das Aquarium, auch wenn ich selbst immer einen Filter verwenden und Wasserwechsel machen werde...😉
Oh my god I want this for my 65g so bad. I've made so many mistakes getting that tank going I'd love to be able to dial it back and do something like this and go back to enjoying the experience again.
With your knowledge n experience..adding a filter will be a step forward..
Thank you so much!
Nice video mate!!
Many things that I believe in a watertank you demystified. It was a true class.
Thanks!
Absolutely stunning!
I’m a bit late but thicker layer of sand on the soil will help prevent soil from reaching the water column
If you soak it for about a week beforehand, you won't have much problems with that.
I use peace lillies , spider lillies, and photos plants on my tanks..I have a 48 year old Monstera ...each leaf is 2 metre in diameter..No way I could put some of her branches to grow into any tank. However there are cultivated smaller growing versions..so maybe I get one of those 😊
Most beautiful tank I"ve erver seen
It keep growing more beautiful. You did a great job on this aquarium. I hope it continues to give you pleasure for many years ahead.

hello from my fishroom channel in chicago, where I am an awestruck subscriber to yours! tell me if you can is the fast growing feathery pink and gold stem that you keep pruning Rotala Wallichii?
Hello! It’s type of Myriophyllum.
Just stumbled on your video and watched facinated. Great stuff, thank you for sharing. Who knows one day I might with any one or all of my five grand kids?
Please talk more about the lighting for your setup.
👍

Thank you so much!
Great work mate

水槽を前にして、揺れて座る人影…。
良いですね😊。
great video, I am a bit further on the same journey and wanted to share some of my experiences (been going 2 years).
This is bloody amazing
I found a small flaw in the information about the assassin snail.
The assassin snail also eats large snails, there are video's about it. He has like a small saw mouth and puncture his pray. Small or big.
They also can eat weak shrimp or shrimps that are molding
Thank you for information. 🌿
saw this beautiful video more than 10 times you are doing grate ,Can you please do a video for what plants are you used in your beautiful natural aquarium❤
Thank you so much! I will make.
@@peaceofnaturee ❤u bro
Absolute beauty! Thank you.. I can see a heater. What temperature do you keep?
Thank you! Sometimes I’m not being at home for a few days. These days I close home heater and I use heater for my aquariums. Temperature around 26c.
Beautiful Tank!
Harika video! Yerli üretim ifadesini görmesem Türk demezdim. Eline sağlık!
Çok teşekkür ederim! 🙏🏻🌿
Dude.... absolutely loved it❤❤
Thank you so much!
absolutely beautiful
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this beautiful video,I've learned so much fr this, thank u ❤️
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I was talking about cycling process my other videos. I didn’t talk about it in this one. All of my aquariums in my livingroom and terrastial plants have day light.
This is so awesome and very relaxing, I got plenty of aquatic plants in my garden, if we are neighbors I'll give it to you for free
Thank you so much! I also appreciate your considerate thought. ❤️🌿
@@peaceofnaturee you're welcome
